Thanks for the videos. Love how you present different views for and against certain drones. I currently have a mini2 and am considering either upgrading to the m4p or keeping the mini 2 and adding a Air 3
You are upgrading your drone if you were to buy Air 3 instead of Mini 4 Pro. Get the Air 3 though, I bought the Air 3 over the Mini 4 Pro when I had the opportunity to when I originally was going to get the Mini 4 Pro I do not regret my choice whatsoever and neither have I ever re-thought the choice I made, I originally thought I wasn’t going to use the 3x Tele camera on the Air 3, but I found myself using it A LOT. The only downside is that with the Mini 4 Pro I can fly inside my house if I wanted to due to bad weather, but the Air 3, I can’t really do that well, but I rarely fly my drones in the house, so that doesn’t matter and bothers me much. You can do whatever you want to do, but I’m recommending you to buy the Air 3, it’s such fantastic value, you’re getting a drone with the capabilities of the Mavic 3 Pro, but with a slightly worse camera, but a faster ascent and descent speed, longer range due to updated controller and O4 (Ocusync 4), and slightly smaller size and weight for a significantly cheaper price.
TL;DR You’re better off getting the Air 3 over Mini 4 Pro, it’s better overall value and the Air 3 has better capabilities than the Mini 4 Pro. You do whatever you want though.
Talking at you from Vietnam. Great video. Especially your shots from Del Mar and Fiesta Island. I was raised in San Diego and I always enjoy watching your videos to see my old stomping grounds. Currently I'm teaching English here in Ha Long Bay Vietnam which is also one of the best places to fly drones. I now have 8 drones total. Someday I will return to San Diego. I bought all my drones here in Asia so I haven't had a chance to get back home and fly there. I like your videos because it gives me some idea of what that will be like. I just bought the Air 3 and consider it the perfect drone. Cheers!
heading to hanoi early next year and I'm not sure which FIRST drone to buy. M4P or air 3....I'm leaning toward air 3 but I want to d the Ha Giang loop. Might be a bitch to carry with everthing else....maybe

The mini 4 pro also got the stack sensor though. Practically the sensors are pretty much same on both with the exception of the 70 mm and the weight of the Air 3 coupled with the speed of the Air 3.
Could you make a video comparing the night video mode between those two drones?
the mini series is all about convenience to me. Smaller form factor and 249 g means it's easier to travel with, and doesn't require registration/permits in my area, quieter means less attention while I'm working.
im a fan of the minis since the first gen..and im planning to get the mini 3 this year..but when i went to dji retail on our area, i saw the Air3, woww, i postponed my purchase and save up more to get the air3
Any thoughts on when or if DJI will release an sdk for the Air 3 so it will be compatible with Dronelink, DroneDeploy or something similar to fly mapping missions.
Coming from the Mavic 2 pro (which doesn't have remote id module) and the smart controller (which can't run 3rd party apps), I'm considering something newer from DJI and "upgrading." I do a lot of real estate photography as well as videography...

I appreciate you taking the time to create and share your drone videos and insight. I believe you come across as a guy that people can relate to. I realize that you put in a lot of time and effort to share your drone experiences. Since you do have experience with both the Mini 4 Pro and the Air 3 I was wondering what you think that each drone can do better than the other. Specifically, do you think that the 3x camera on the Air 3 allows it to still get footage further away and maintain a low somewhat “stealthy” noise level compared to the Mini 4 Pro being quieter but needing to get closer for comparable footage. I realize that the “depth of field” is affected when using the 3x camera but I am interested in your perspective on this. The Air 3 may be able to still capture good “non disturbing” footage while being more powerful and stable.
I know that you can’t respond to all but I thought I would ask anyway.

There’s no one drone to rule them all unfortunately. I take my mini drones with me everywhere. No issues either travel, airports packing etc. But when home or on a gig, I’ll bring the air or Mavic drones.

Mini 4 pro is so much easier to travel with. I have both the air 2 and the mini 2 and always found myself grabbing the mini for it's size. Just ordered the mini 4 pro.
Just went from the air 2s to the air 3 and it’s like night and day! Very happy with the air 3. The controller features are better, the drone itself has an amazing night time mode and I love flying it! I would consider the mini 4 at some future point though.

One very cool thing with the Mini 4 - I have the Air 3 and the Mini 3 Pro (with the extended batteries). The Air 3 controller just had an update that makes it work with the Mini 4 and the Mini 3 batteries work with the Mini 4, so if I could somehow snag a Mini 4 Drone-Only, I'd be golden. Unfortunately, DJI won't sell it like that.

I had a Mini 3 pro. I swapped for a Mini 4 pro, I got RC controller, mini 4 pro and one new light battery . Then I used the rest of my Mini 3 batteries. The rest of the the accessories like the ND filters won't work on the Mini 4 pro . E - Waste in the making.

How is the mini4 compared to the air2s? Really considering the mini4 but doubt that I’m gaining anything regarding picture quality. Specially for photograph
Recently, I wanted to upgrade from my old Mavic Pro 1 - and just when I decided to go for the Mini 3 Pro - the Air 3 surfaced and I went for that one instead.
I mostly use my drone for still photos - and the telephoto lens has really been a game changer for me to be honest. I really don't think that I could ever go back to having only a wide angle now that I have realized what kind of photos I am able to take with the compression of a longer lens.
I might soon have more flight hours on my Air 3 in a couple of month than I haad with my Mavic Pro over the last 5 years 😄
Also, I love to take photos at night (which was not really possible with the Mavic Pro 1), and for that I love the stable platform of the Air 3, so that it is possible to use a slow shutter speed and not having too much movement in the drone even in windy conditions.
I know that I'm kind of an odd bird, mainly taking still photos with my drone - but for me the Air 3 is as perfect as it gets right now without spending twice the money on a Mavic 😊
You're not alone. I mostly use my drone for photography. Not that I cannot appreciate some good drone videography, it's just that I find it to be insanely time consuming compared to just taking great photographs.
It would be great to see a video showing footage of air 3 2.7k vertical video vs. mini 4 pro 4k vertical video. If the difference isn't major given the stacked sensor in air 3, I might go with air 3. But haven't been able to find a video like that yet.

I love my Air 3. I definitely have more piece of mind with the heavier body. Also that 70mm lens is a game changer for me.
Is that because of the wind resistance? That's what I worry about and hesitate between the two
@ The Air 3 and other drones its size and larger just handle the wind much better. I didn't have to many issues with the Mini 3 Pro I had. However when I was in Hawaii back in February it was extremely windy and I thought I was going to lose it.

The mini 4 pro puts me off a lot due to its wind resistance, which limits many flights, it is a problem, my favorite value for money, the air 3.

i was going to get the mavic 3 but its over 250g which makes it hard for me to travel to other countries with a drone over that weight limit. I got the mini 4 so that i could fly the drone on almost every country in the world.

I just got both of them. I really like all the features that air 3 have, except the size and weight! This thing is almost like a mavic 3! No way I’m gonna travel with Air3. The drone, 3batteries with hub and RC2 already took half of my backpack. Not to mention the heavy weight with all. So I guess the best drone is the one that I can take with me everywhere, which is mini 4 pro, despite missing my favorite 70mm 2nd lens and less wind resistant. I really wish they can just make the air little smaller and lighter. I guess air3 is best for car travel or use it somewhere you don’t have to carry around a lot. Since the size and weight of air3 is almost like mavic 3 pro, I’ll rather get that instead. I’ll return the air3 and keep the m4p.
I do still have the air2s from last year. The air2s is perfect drone with size, weight, portability, and features. Too bad its outdated now.

Please can you do a video where you compare the loudness of the DJI Mavic Mini 4 Pro with the previous generation, as well as older models such as the Mavic 2 Pro.

Does the air3 record from both lenses at the same time or do you have to select from one lens or another. Trying to decide from Air 3 or the the Mini 4. I have enjoyed my original Air 1 drone.
Pretty sure the noise for M4P is indiscernible from M3P
That's a shame. That's the only thing that prevented me from buying the M3P. I'll give this one a mess and hopefully the M5P will be superior in terms of noise reduction

How safe the mini 4 pro is in wind vs air 3? I understand that heavier drones resist wind better, but should one expect losing of the mini drone due to wind gusts?
2 reason why Mini 4 pro is better
1.) Bang for the buck
2.) Easier to travel with
Mini 4 pro is sooo 🤫 and there's something to say about how unintimidating it is. People either don't hear it or simply smile at it and continue on their merry way. I really really like that.

I've watched this video as well as your Mini 4 Pro video. Unless I missed it, what is not clear to me is if there are intelligent flight modes on the Mini 4 Pro that are not on the Air 3, or better versions of them on the Mini 4 Pro than on the Air 3.

Same modes, but the active track on the Mini 4 pro is enhanced. Both on the user interface and with how smooth the actual tracking is. I would assume this active track 360 will be updated on the Air 3 eventually.

@@garyheurich6835 I don’t see why not. Both have the same sensors and transmission. Seems like it would be a software to give the air 3 the new user interface and activate the new trace features. Not sure what is missing.

if you already have Mini 3 Pro, that is pointless to upgrade from 1/1.3 sensor to 1/1.3 sensor. straight go for Mavic 3 Pro or wait for Mavic 4 Pro.

It's definitely an upgrade over the Air 2S. Significant upgrade to quality and transmission range, not to mention the omnidirectional obstacle avoidance. I went with the Air 3 but if you don't want to drop the money on that, the Mini 4 pro is a solid upgrade.

i used to edit on ipad and the best editing software i have used has been adobe rush for videos and adobe lightroom for photos they are both completely free, but of course you can upgrade to get more features, i never found that i needed them.
I don't edit on an iPad normally but check out Air Photography channel, he has some iPad editing videos.

You forgot the battery hub feature of air 3 that can combine the remaining batteries into one.

Non of the drones currently available from Dji meet my requirements.
I need
1.a minimum of 20 real megapixels .
2. Mechanical Shutter.
3. A "rate switch" which halfs the amount the srone moves per millimetre of stick movement, for smoother shots.
Not the same as Cine mode.
4. The 60 degree vertical gimbal is essential for panoramic shots.
5. Red and green lights on the legs, for ezsy orientation identification. The same as on full size boats and planes.
The potential of an upcoming Mavic 4 with an updated 24mm main camera with the same new processing technology thats in the current 3x camera.
The Air 3S now has the potential to have a larger sensor, which would be an interesting drone for sure.
In both new drones we can look forwad to adding sound as in the X1 Hover.😊

1 reason to buy the the Mini 4 Pro. You don't have to think about the rules and can fly almost everywhere. That's why I skipped my M2P and got me a Mini 4 Pro.
You still need to register it in EU countries and get A1/A3 license.

Interesting thought process. Feels though that Air 3 owners aren’t mini 4 owners - certainly not as a primary device. To me it’s comparing a truck to a hot hatch. They are just not in the same market

It's good to hear someone talking about the good points of the air 3. It seems like when the mini 4 pro came out the air3 became some kind of bastard child! I love my air 3 it's a awsome drone in my opinion.
I’m torn on what I should get, the mini 4 or the air 3. I have the mini 2 and i have experience with the mini 3. I love the portability of the mini drones but I want the extra wind resistance, dual cameras and higher top speed in the air 3. It’s hard to figure if I pay the extra 300 for the air

Does the mini4 overheat quickly while sitting going through an update or whatever and shut down like the mini3?

One more reason no one is talking about is that the mini 4 pro have its gimbal 2 axis and not 3 axis
I currently own the Air 3 and its an amazing drone. But with this new RID, it has become at times a liability to fly since anyone can know my location and that of the drone as well. With the mini 4 pro I dont have to worry about this. I ordered the Mini 4 pro just because of this issue. I may be keeping both drones for a while but may end up selling my Air 3.
I could be wrong but I think that DJI controls the RID being active in their drones that it is already built into. I don’t think there is a current way to deactivate the RID that is built into the drone but someone might figure that out in time. I’m also considering how RID will affect the privacy of the drone pilot since it is built into many drones even those weighing less than 250g. How would you know if ir when it is activated?
I just flew the mini 4 pro and used the drone scanner app and it didn't show up unlike when I fly the air 3 it shows the drone location and mine.
Why does this actually matter unless you’re breaking the laws of flying drones? I’m not here for arguments because I don’t have a drone and I’m looking into buying one. Just genuinely curious 🧐
@@jamesgrantham1743 because it's a high value item, someone might want to steal it. or, regardless of following every law, some people are paranoid nutjobs and want to harrass you because they think you're spying on them.
so did they change RID for MP4? because it's mandatory in M3P, it used to be optional but they got rid of that now it runs no matter what.
As of October 3, 2023. One of the biggest reasons to go Air 3 over the Mini 4 Pro is that the Goggles 2 or the Goggles Integra will work with the Air 3 but not the Mini 4 Pro.
None of DJI’s current goggle line work with a Mini 4 Pro at this time.
There may be a firmware update to allow compatibility, or there may be a new goggle coming out, but as of right now you can’t use DJI’s goggles with the Mini 4 Pro.
When you ask about this to DJI, they just say they will run it by their engineers.
Give me a break, they know if that’s being worked on.
FYI all of DJI goggles WILL work with the Mini 3 Pro, just NOT the newer Mini 4 Pro.

@@adilla7423 The term "goggle line" is referring to the "product line" of goggles manufactured by DJI. I am saying none of DJI's goggles currently work with the Mini 4 Pro.

My Air 3 was delivered last night. Was going to take it out and fly today, but the President decided to ruin that for me. At least for the next 5 hours until the TFR is lifted. Ugh.

it did..just couple days ago..has the new AR RTH like the update from the Mavic 3 Pro..but it is a "standard" feature on the Mini 4 Pro..
Air 3 now has the augmented reality features. Update the app and the drone firmware.
As an air 3 and a mini 3 pro owner I think my wallet will stay closed for now.. as good as the 4 pro is I think I have enough with the 2 I have

Why is the telephoto a "completely different look"? How is it different than if you took your 50mph flying camera and moved it closer so the center object is the same size on the lens?
Background compression and parallax is completely different that just flying closer. Plus you would have to extremely close to the subject to get these types of shots with a wide angle lens.
@@FlytPath The parallax I get. Background compression I'd have to see. "Extremely close" part ... just seems kind of stalky to me. 50mph flying camera means that you can get closer, quickly, not wanting to get close just makes me ask, why are you afraid of getting close?
I'm also not saying that its nothing, but that seems to be what you are paying $400 for, so is it worth $400?

@@andyklapper8484 getting close generates a bit of noise. you could just be filming yourself, but having distance and the tele lens allows that to be less of an issue...where other people could be nearby and you don't to make them hear a loud ass buzzing because you're flying close by. also it helps if there's objects nearby and you want height to fly over them but shallow angle which requires distance.
@andyklapper8484 Taking pictures of wild life might be a good example so as not to spook them. I have the mini 2 and often fly over the marsh and sometimes try to get pictures of wading birds.

as an owner of the mini one and now the air 3 Ive been loving being able to take lightning shots with the air 3 without having a bunch of camera shake from the wind.

My Mavic air 2 is very durable
I bought the air 3 to replace my mavic pro. I’m not “upgrading” again until the air 3 isn’t supported anymore. I just don’t have thousands of shekels to fork over every 6 months for a new drone…nor do I have a wife who approves of spending thousands every few months for my hobby.😂

Depends on what you want / need. Speed, acent and decent are important Factors for me, also the Wind resistance, the Longer Battery life and the Zoom especially because I’m a lot in the Mountains. the Air ist better for me.
In the end, you can achieve much more with the air than with the mini . With the air, you come further higher, and or lower, have more time to film and the ability to zoom. These are all very important factors. In my opinion. Therefore, I am very happy about this video, and I cannot understand why so many videos neglect those facts. Nobody is ever talking about the longer battery, life, the highest speed, and the better incline and decline rates.

It seems like DJi is going back on the 120m height limit on the sub 250g drones as well, so that's another reason to go away from the small drones, Mavic 3 goes to 1000 meters, and if you are in high terrain, that's the difference in being able to make the shoot you want vs hovering far down looking up like an idiot 😂 I don't care about flying higher than 120 m in my regular area, however in terrain I want that for sure.
