    I just subscribed yesterday, and find your channel very informative, plus your reasonable, “middle of the road” demeanor is refreshing. I’m a native Californian living in Oregon, and as much as I love the nature (NorCal) in both places, I am fed up with government policies, mainly taxes. You’ve given me excellent information, and ideas for my next exodus. Thank you!

      🙏🏼 Thank you so much! We've got plenty of nature up north of you! And most people don't realize that Oregon state income taxes are higher on the middle class than California because of the way they've set up their tax brackets. I so appreciate your input ☺️

    Very helpful! Where I live, trash/recycling is included in property taxes

    I am glad you have this channel running. i have more knowkedge now to add to what I have been researching on my own. I am trying to move to Washington as soon as I find a home in a neighborhood that is appealing . This helps me with budgeting for this move. Thank you.

    Worth noting that the PGE (Portland General Electric, not PG&E)'s electric rates are over twice the rates in Clark County at this point, and they're trying to raise them further. Pacific Power (which serves some random chunk of Portland that PGE doesn't) is somewhere in between the two, but is also trying to raise rates. Very rapid increases over just the past few years, and going forward if PGE gets what they want.

    Definitely some cost savings there. My pg&e averages $215/month, garbage is $119 every 3 months, water/sewer runs about $180 every 2 months. My Xfinity is $92/mo. Water service is comparable, but, the electric is definitely cheaper there.

      I don't think to the utility costs are make or break here, but it's nice to have visibility & no surprises after you get here

    Would have been nice to know approx size and age of home you are giving these utility costs for as that can vary the costs greatly

      Understood. I tried to provide published averages that would give more contexts across all home ages & sizes in our area, like I did for water & sewer. You can also take our electric rate and calculate how much your bill would be here based on the kwh you currently use.

    I live in SoCal we have solar I haven’t paid electric in 5 yrs. Your water is expensive in Camas. Did I get that right with water, sewer is $100 plus average a month in Camas? Ours average $60. Gas is about the same.

    • @halbyrd_
      @halbyrd_  6 дней назад +1

      Yes, that's correct about Camas water + sewer. Camas is the most expensive area to live in in SW Washington. Solar is less common here (I believe due to our low electric rates) & I meant to touch on it in the video but forgot when I was filming.

    1000$ utility bill in CA? LOL what are those folks doing in their home, running a bitcoin farm? 😆

    • @halbyrd_
      @halbyrd_  Месяц назад

      No lol, between the peak rates and needing to run your A/C constantly to survive 100°+ weather, it adds up really quickly. Plus, if you have a pool (which many do) it's just difficult to keep the cost down even when you try. Lots of people time when they do their laundry (like the middle of the night), just to try & save
