  • WE KNOW THAT THE AFTER MARKET DIDN'T EMBRACE THE 4.6L 2V THE WAY IT DID THE ORIGINAL 5.0L FORD, BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN YOU CAN'T JUST ADD BOOST. BLOWERS, TURBOS ANDNITRUS ALL WORK, AND EVEN BETTER WHEN YOU DO HEADS, CAM AND INTAKE. LET'S TALK TECH.

    2v is often slept on. Its a good motor for its size. The key is better rods and pistons with valve reliefs. Add boost and good cams. If you run out of what uou can do on 93. Switch to trick flow heads and tfs head grind cams and it will maximize efficiency and make more power at a few psi less.

      That’s a lot of money in parts. If you already have a 2v in your vehicle, def modify it. But if you’re starting g with a vehicle that doesn’t come with a 2v, find something else probably.

    Friend of mine had .4.6
    2 valve in a Mustang that he bought a salien clone kit for the real salien supercharger 373,s in the rear that' Thing ripped Pretty reliably bone stock engine . It's a shame there's so much stuff for the 5.0 Coyote stuff. Because those are cool but in my opinion are junk. I hated the 2 valve Trident 4.6 and 5.4 when they first came out. I really appreciate them now compared to the new stuff Ford has put out. Just on a reliability and easy maintenance basis. Cheap to fix diamond doesn't use motors with low mileage in the wreck yards can't go to wrong. spark plugs were nightmare didn't have enough threads they blow out spark plugs. Well I actually today I'm doing a motor job on an 07 5.4 tree valvve Trident those are absolute junk. Good job Ford you made a truck that had spark plug issues. The 2 valve they would strip out or blow out there wasn't enough threads in certain castings or threads were not deep enough cutter/ tap cut flat threads or the bore for the spark plug hole was to large an out of tolerance. The aftermarket came up with solutions an answers to that worked very well. They have for the 3 valve Triton but the sheet metal spark plug breaks off drops ceramic In the cylinder you can get it out. But it's always such a risk of some of thstuff doesn't blow out when you start the thing with no spark plug in it. Absolutely garbage. Timing chains cam phaser's flat Cam lobes bad lifters bad seals on cam towers.Then the ecoboost is basically the same animal. It just has 2 turbos crammed on A V6 they make power and torque with good but good God what a pain in rear to work on it's not worth it.

      Can't believe I read all this, but Ford was diabolical in everything if it wasn't the Mustang for sure. The 5.4 is a nightmare.

      ​@@Guns_N_Gearsthat's not very nice .and never got ripped off in school not even once. I dropped out when I was 17 . You can judge that however you want but I got 26 years in the trade own my own shop and And charge $150 an hour for my time. Just be nice. I deserve A little bit of teasing for how long that post was oh whatever.

    I kind of wonder why a 2v 5.4 swap isn't more popular. They need an intake adapter setup but from what I read they were easy enough and had good gains. If you are building go cubes. Also early ones came with a factory forged crank so why not? The 4.6 is definitely an engine i would boost first over a lot of induction mods. Way better bang for the buck.

    billet oil pump gears at least in a manual, then boost, but doing oil pump you are already doing timing chains then you may as well do cams

    Have you ever wanted to test a barra motor? I hear they can handle more boost than a 2jz. Your thoughts?

    I was watching your video comparing the 6-71 blower to the torqstorm and was wondering what you think a single four barrel tunnel ram would do with the torqstorm. I was thinking it would make more torque and horsepower than the 6-71 blower.

      the boost curve offered by the two are dramatically different but so are the intakes.
