Man these shortcuts is just insane. I've been using fl studio for about 15 years and i love it in so many ways, but editing audio files and fading volumes etc has never been as ez as with studio one. Im gonna put time to learn this in and out. Will prolly watch this video many times over and over. Thanks for sharing. Excellent content :)

I have to stop and take notes in a word document for this. If you get this, make more of these vids for the studio one. There's not enough quality content for studio one out there. Keep up the good work.

    Great Vid - thank you!
I think it’s worth highlighting that in S1 all keyboard shortcuts and macros are customizable. There’s even templates based on other DAWs. For instance as an ex-cubase user, I just started with presonus’ supplied cubase template and further customized from there (something impossible in steinberg’s environment- at least back a few years ago).
For instance: I much prefer to have fast toggle on/off access to the mixer so added Cntrl-Shift C to do this. This way I don’t always have to jump to F keys.
    Anyway, Cheers!

Oh for sure this is one of the great features of Studio One! Thanks for the helpful comment 👌 It's always good to hear how other people have customized their shortcuts.
I'll be doing another video on some custom macros that I've made too.

Amazing, thank you so much for this great video! I don't suppose there is away to move the cursor with the keyboard? My setup is awkward and it would help a lot if I didn't have to use the mouse when starting off with a project... I have seen shift with +/- but it doesn't work on my keyboard because I don't have a number pad :(

When you click “T to add track” is there a short cut for the drop down menu to select music?
My brother is visually impaired and this would make it extremely easy to add tracks for him and select music without having to use a mouse to find and click on the drop down menu list. Thanks

What’s the shortcut to where let’s say you record audio or virtual instrument and want to cut the very end tail of it?
Example I’ve seen is let’s say someone has extra seconds at the end of a recording, for this example track goes to bar 15, they put the cursor at bar 14 and hit some hot key and it automatically cuts that extra part off instead of clicking the track and dragging the tail end to the desired bar

Any idea if you can change the zoom mouse wheel shortcuts? I really want to make just Ctrl and mouse wheel horizontal zoom rather than Ctrl + Shift. There doesn't seem to be an option though unfortunately.

like you i use as many keyboard shortcuts as i can to avoid the mouse. I do however have a much easier method so that i don't have to memorise tons of shortcuts. I use a Corsair K95 gaming keyboard. It comes with software for the keyboard called iCue which allows you to map complex keyboard shortcuts to the keys. Where it shines is that you can create layers so that once you've mapped all available keys you simply create a new layer and you can continuing mapping to the new layer. I have 3 layers in operation Recording for all shortcuts that are recording related. The second layer is Editing and the third layer is mixing I can switch easily between layers and fire off shortcuts with a press of one key, not multiples. Have a look at my videos if you want to know more. I find it liberating to not have to use modifiers and the keys, just one button.

  • @stupidusername38

here's one that confused the hell out of me. Maybe someone else has experienced this. With the Console view open using the Up and Down arrows navigates up and down through the tracks but it also moves left and right through the console channels. Here's where it gets confusing, if you have FX, VCA or Busses the arrow keys won't scroll left/right through these non Track channels. Instead, you have to use the bracket keys [ and ] to navigate left right through console channels

Some laptops will have other function buttons over the F keys. You may be able to change it so that by default the button acts as F5 instead of the light dimmer. Try holding the Fn key and pressing F5 for now. Let me know if it works or not.

Hello, I still have not upgrade from STO 3 to 5... don't know if it's worthy for me. So far very impressed by your tutorials... I wonder how a young person like you got to know so much about this software. I am a newbie really, never really experimented much with STO 3.
LET ME ASK YOU, ALL I really purchased this s/w was to create BACTRACKING TRACKS, to make my guitar learning less boring. Anyway you can make some videos just doing that? CREATING SOME SIMPLE backing tracks? guitar, drums, bass, maybe more? TIA. EM
