  • In a previous video I ran through how to create a Blend toolpath and then compared that Blend toolpath to a Scallop toolpath. Let's machine the part on the Syil X7 and compare and contrast the results Blend and Scallop

    They did it again wish they would let you know why. I'll post with out a link. Trying again :) Blend looks very promising. It is strange how those water droplets seem to be where ever you are looking. Wonder if the original Rain X for glass or the new Rain X for plastic might help mitigate that . About the feeds and speeds, you might take a look at HSMAdvisor , it is a very powerful app for machinist and believe there is a 30 day trial. I do like your X7 looks to be a very capable machine and your shop is too organized, I'll give it a year LOL.

      Hi Ken. Your comments are coming through on my end. I can see al of them.

      Only the two showing at my end, strange, that's a first, anyway all's well that ends well.

    Kevin, I get that swirling with the face tool as well. I’d be really interested to see how you improve this.

    Had my coffee ready at 8am... could not find this video.....anyways. How do think the finish would be on the slopes if you 1/4'd the step over? Are you smoothing? Are you using a 90 or 45 degree face mill? Great video!

    • @MechanicalAdvantage
      @MechanicalAdvantage  3 года назад +1

      I don’t think changing the stepover would significantly change the finish. I’m running the programs off the USB drive. I have a feeling it is either the white label cutter or running from the USB stick. I’ll be doing some more testing to figure it out.

    The Adaptive Clearing with a flat end mill is leaving big steps for the ball mill causing tool deflection and marks in your surface. You may want to slow the feed rate down a bit.
    Is there a way to take a roughing pass with the ball mill leaving .005-.010" on the surface and come back with a finishing pass to clean up ? (Not sure if that's possible in Blend)

    • @MechanicalAdvantage
      @MechanicalAdvantage  3 года назад

      That is possible, but shouldn’t be an issue in this case. I’m leaving ridges of .030”. The ball mill shouldn’t have any issues dealing with that. I’m suspecting that running these toolpaths from the USB stick is causing some of the issues.

    Hi Mate how are you? We have almost the same machine, mine is a, Optimum that looks the same, same controller.... is there any chance you have a 3d file of your machine? i would like to use machine simulation and finish editing my Post for it...

    Morning Kevin,
    I was wondering how large a file you can load into your mill?
    It seams as though it eats code pretty well do you find it necessary to dumb it down with smoothing or other
    Attributes within Fusion? I find this to be true with my Fanuc control do you have videos on this.
    Have a good weekend

      That’s a good question. I have been running off the USB stick and I have a feeling that I need to move the programs to the control memory. I don’t know how much memory it has.

      I had trouble drip feeding larger programs from a PCMIA card recently
      It would actually corrupt the file on the card while drip feeding (DNC) crazy

    might be better for flow toolpath.

      If all the faces were relatively the same width. Since you can’t specify a stepover amount and instead need to specify number of stepover, some of the faces would get way more passes than the others.
