As much yeehaw as there is in this pack, I do like how a lot of these items really come off as suiting Native American and Latino folks. Some of this stuff looks very comfy for the desert, which is something that's pretty uncommon in the game and refreshing to see as someone who's currently being slow roasted in the Mojave. That short orange dress with the little flowers I remember seeing variants of fairly often.
I actually feel the same way! I’m a Puerto Rican so my grandma wears a lot of native and /Latino clothing so seeing some of theses items felt very much nostalgic to me! I also live in Arizona so some of theses clothes are very much worn here :3

I don't have Strangerville, so maybe that's why I'm loving these looks so much! And although I do have Seasons, I feel like I have so few true outerwear options. Actually the CAS items are not dated or for a specific "time period". They are what the ranch/rodeo/western horsemen wear in the United States. Tends to be mostly in the midwestern and pacific northwest parts of the country. Though, anyone who's into the whole ranch/rodeo scene tends to wear that style of clothes...regardless of what part of the country they're from. So no, it's not dated, it's just the American Ranch/Rodeo culture.
I think mollie meant that *outside* of the ranch context, most clothes would only feel natural to her if you're aiming to represent a specific time period in which this style was popular in general, or popular in other contexts. like 70s, 90s maybe. all depends on where you are in the world I guess
I will say I like the CAS and like that it pairs well with Strangerville and Jungle Adventure. I often pair those packs together when doing sims or townie makeovers. I have been itching for more western inspired CAS since the Strangerville pack came out❤ I personally adore how there are assets that look like you've been working in the dirt (I think that is the main selling point for me lol that and the accessories and shoes) 😊 love your CAS reviews btw Edit: so glad to finally have a pair of work gloves! (Are they riding gloves? idk they look like work gloves to me so that's probably what I would use them for) Edit 2: oh yay I finally have western boots (and hats?) For all the age groups! I love love love everything about this pack, the build buy, the CAS, everything! I only have one small issue on the swatches of certain build buy items that don't all match, like doors and windows, spandrels, and the kitchen counters that don't have 'clean' versions but can can be fixed in an update . And yes the items are similar but still diferent and they all look great to me.
From what I have seen, yes there is a lot of denim in the game already, but I like the denim textures in this game better. It just looks like actual denim instead of just blue fabric 😅
i understand bc western riding is mainly done in chaps, denim etc so sims don’t change into athletic when riding (which i’m v happy about) but that one more english riding fit i would have expected to be in athletic along with a couple of the t-shirts
SO a Random thought as we are talking about really capitalizing on the necklace slot on the body frame.... I think it would be interesting if they started experimenting with push-up/ padded bras. Basically, it would be a way for sims with a male body to wear a fem top and then use the necklace slot to add the shape behind the shirt for drag queens and trans- presurgery
The only things I like in this CAS are the new hairstyles & bandanas & like 6 clothing items. :/ The rest of it is just not my taste. Some hairstyles look similar to what we already have but I don't use CC & don't mind using "multiple variations of one hairstyle" one bit. Plus I'm glad the male sims got quite a lot of new hairstyles this time around.
I really like the masculine full body outfits this time! I just wish feminine frames got some of that more sporty, sleek equestrian look. I get that it's a western pack but some more preppy looks would suit the horse theme and competitions well too.
Yes. I'm confused why if this is supposed to be a horse riding/equestrian pack why do only masculine sims get the horse riding outfit and a helmet for both. And they don't have riding boots. They have a competition saddle, you'd think they'd have given us the full outfit. I haven't got the pack yet. I'm hoping to get for my birthday.
Although I have low expectations on this pack in general, some of these CAS assets made me want to create yet another “boho plant parent” sim… success??
Kinda disapointed we did NOT get unicorns. Sims 3 HAS unicorns from pets but why could we NOT get unicorns with horses?? That at leaste would have been nice to have unicorns in this NEW exspansion pack. Also it still feels more like a game pack. IF were a game pack maybe just maybe we would NOT have to be paying 39.99/ 40.00 for this pack. Thats still to exspensive. I MAY WANT horses but NOT at that price. Crazy. I just WAIT till it goes on sale and if its NOT to exspensive than MAYBE just MAYBE I MAY get it but NOT NOW. NOT at that to exspensive price. Ty for the Post though it waa interesting. 👍✌
they aren’t proper unicorns though. they don’t have any special abilities, moodlets etc and you can only create them in cas. they don’t randomly spawn in the world like they do in sims 3 which is what most people mean when we say we wish they were in the game. it’s purely an aesthetic horn that sparkles (and you physically HAVE to create one too as they don’t pop up as a breed in the breed list)
Wow. As someone who grew up in and lives in the American West of Colorado I wanted to share somethings that I feel you are off base on. Mainly.... these are not OLD TIMEY clothes. These are western style clothes. Many are work clothes worn on ranches. While I personally don't dress this way I could walk into a western store and buy any of these clothes. I don't think they are like the other clothes we have. Maybe because I can tell the difference between South American jungle styles and clothes of the American west. Also some of these styles have specific style of the indigenous Americans. Two styles of hats are very specific to them. Also, in the American west you don't wear athletic clothes to ride horse. You wear what you wear...ie denim jeans and shirts. No helmets. That could be why nothing is tagged as "athletic". Horses are a necessary utility. Not a sport. thank you for letting me know about the hats! the old timey comments were more about certain specific assets like the full body fem dress/pinafore and the duster jackets in masc full body outfits. not everything within cas a whole. i do really appreciate the elements of native american clothing they included and should have absolutely voiced that in the video
@@lisascankdealejo6447 the melon hat with the feather is very specific to them, also one of the more casual jacket with a necklaces is also one for male sims, there are a lot of influence that is for sure. I can see those even though I am from eastern Canada, I have lived out west.
I love so much the western esthetic, never dared wearing it when I was living out west, instead I was wearing moutain hiking gear, because it was my jam, going on hike. But yeah I remember the first time I saw a clothing store in Banff, which was western, and to me it was looking like a costume stores, but not, at the same time, just because in eastern Canada, you dont see that style, but I loved so much seeing people wearing it, the plains, the mountain, NOW I want to go back god dawm it. Its been 10 years already.

yes it is similar, but in a different color palette. I love that most of it comes in a dirty swatch.
