I was in that corner in the crowd as a 15 year old Kangaroos supporter, and have never forgotten that roar. The atmosphere was electric for the entire match.
Both teams littered with legends of the game… Hell of a series. Remeber it like it was yesterday. Absolutely loved Davies from the 80’s Union for Wales then he came north where we’d moved to! Jiffy is a legend.
I remember the All Blacks vs Wales in 1988. The All Blacks were far too good in both tests by a country mile but one player managed to score a length of the field try against the ABs. Jonathan Davies what a champion.Wonderful player in both codes.
Just absolute rugby genius. Instinctive dummy with pace to burn,. Slow, in and out. They don't make them like that anymore. And he bought our family home when he came back. True true genius. This and the baabaas try always gives me goosebumps
Jonathon Davies had genuine speed he did this very same thing while playing against the all blacks the fullback was Terry Wright a real speedster as well
One of the few times where GB were the better team. He got injured later in the game and I still think it cost us the series. Wonderful try tho, just a great player
Poms outclassed in the next 2 games but the 3rd test was an edge of your seat thriller. scoreline just blew out late. I remember getting up at 2am to watch it.
i was there that day.for some reason we were sat iin the middle of the assuies, the banter was fun and they said it was an awsome game.many beers flowed after with them, shame the other 2 test did not live up to that one.
Them were the days. My favourite memory from that time has to be 2nd test, June 1992 - for which Jonny Bag was crocked. I remember arriving in London and innocently asking an Aussie if he knew the result. "I've been travelling all night, did we manage to make a game of it?" A many beers victory. He didn't swing for me.
Yeah that Mullins.he was an idiot. Scuffled with his own teammate on the field at Raiders. Fullback of the 90s Tim Brasher would never have let that in.
JD was such an incredible player. Funny thing is i recall more than a few sports journalists saying he wouldn’t make it in rugby league 🤣🤣
Shocking pace .... Amazing player ....2 code Legend !
@J G i,m not arguing with you .I,m just commenting on a world class player .It doesnt matter what sport ...Jonathan is a legend .
Whereas J G is a cock end.

Me too. I was 14 and I think this was my favorite GB moment of all time.

Wish he played Rugby League in Australia more. Did have a stint with Bulldogs and Cowboys. Gary Conelly was at dogs at same time. Legends.
That’s a great compliment to him.
@wakstar1 always love seeing Poms test themselves in the NRL. Hanley being the best ever.
Absolute class. One of the best league players ever
Gobshites call it soccer.
The late 80s/early 90s were really the glory days of rugby. All the best players in the world played cross code.
I was there, best RL player I've ever seen.

As a kid I remember Davies scored that unbeleivable individual try v NZ but can't find it on RUclips
Just absolute rugby genius. Instinctive dummy with pace to burn,. Slow, in and out. They don't make them like that anymore. And he bought our family home when he came back. True true genius. This and the baabaas try always gives me goosebumps
Wish I would of gone this game JD very special player widnes so lucky to get him in his prime
He is my stepdad 💕💕
One of the greatest rugby league players
That’s so cool
wat a great try by a great player
Jonathon Davies had genuine speed he did this very same thing while playing against the all blacks the fullback was Terry Wright a real speedster as well
I'm Aussie but that dummy was outstanding.
😅That's not very nice

very fine player

Ignore the end scoreline of the 3rd test, was a great game.

WOW, he beat brett mullins AND Steve renouf..
See the play the ball leading to the try? Mullins was there and somehow got to the far side and almost caught Davies. Great footy!
Mullins made the previous tackle and nearly got Davies if you look at the footage
one of the greatest sportsmen to come out of wales
Wish we still had the GB team, might have half a chance against the Aussies and Kiwis today....
trememdous series, hopefully test series will return, it has been so long!!!!!
that crowd lost their shit
Davis was class
Useless Mullins wanting to fight at marker rather than get in position. Tim Brasher 10x the player. As for Davies, he was just special.
The Cliff Lyons try in the 1990 test was the best try i have ever seen
Don't like davis as he scored the winning try agains Keighley but!!! What a quality player.
Remember watching this life. GB were decent back then. Shame they aren’t as good these days
BRING BACK GB AND THE ASHES
Kangaroo full-back Mullins was too busy scuffling with Alan Hunte to get back in position.
Yeah that Mullins.he was an idiot. Scuffled with his own teammate on the field at Raiders. Fullback of the 90s Tim Brasher would never have let that in.
Why is it called the ashes?
Traditional after some burned cricket stumps/bails century's ago after a match.
Joe Lydon was as good a commentator as a player
Put a bet on for my uncle joe first try scorer easy money , simply on of the best
Mullins did well to nearly get Davies after making the previous tackle on the other side of the ground
You know you're shit at a sport when you have to refuse to play that sport against another team. RIP GBRL, at least you know when you're outmatched.
no
But ... What is that shit ? Not rugby
It's real rugby.
