I was at this game, wedged in somewhere at the northern end near the scoreboard. 45000 people so they let a lot of the crowd sit on the field near the boundary fence! Things you see that you'd NEVER see today...kids swarming onto the field while Langlands takes the conversion near the end of the game...head high tackles that go unpenalised....half back Billy Smith placing the ball for Langlands to kick to restart play...contested scrums... Can't believe how much ball GBritain dropped. Their handling was atrocious! This was a DRY field!!! Artie Beetson gave some examples of why he's rated as one of the best forwards ever to play the game...his offloads while charging into the defence line were legendary! Changa Langlands..that famous sidestep catching defenders off guard. Hepworth was easily G Britain's best. He penetrated through the line nearly every time he had the ball. Big win for Aust but a false dawn. The Pommies got revenge in the 2nd and 3rd tests to end up taking the series. Roger 'the dodger' Millward took Hardisty's place in those tests, and made a massive difference to Britain's attack.

I must of been close to you sir at that scoreboard, I remember langlands first penalty kick ,it hit the post and went in !!
