    Sironen came in for some real heavy treatment from the Wigan forwards in this game. He was a great player and they had clearly been instructed to take him out. In those days it was part and parcel of the game and with Skerrett and McDermott on the field Wigan had two of the best to do it. Really strange decision to move Henry Paul to centre. Connolly was the best defensive centre of that era whilst Henry Pauls best position was full back in his early years. I remember being disappointed after the game as Wigan had not played anywhere near their potential.

    • @adamely997
      @adamely997 11 месяцев назад

      Interestingly neither Skerrett or McDermott had the balls to come to Australia and have a crack in the NRL like proper tough forwards the like of Crooks, Ward, O’Reilly etc. Both their skill levels would have seen them at Reserve Grade level in Australia, or at best, coming off the bench for the last 5mins of the game in 1st Grade.
