    That was an awesome reaction man. You didn't have to say a word, just like this short. We get it. It recaptured the heart and soul of the franchise we loved these modern fools worked so hard to dismantle. Kirk and Spok's friendship is timeless!

    We're called toxic fans. We're not. We're TRUE fans reacting to toxic creators. The Unification film is proof of how good Star Trek has the potential to be, if made carefully and with love. Reminding us of what TrueTrek used to be, in a better time.

    I was born in 73’ grew up watching it in syndication along with the cartoon. They were my favorite tv experience as a kid. It made me lookup and think HOW and WHY. Great franchise up through Voyager. Made me the sci-fi nerd I am today. Proud to be a Trekkie. Peace

    It’s Yeoman JM Colt’s serial number. A weird choice making a minor character from the first pilot so important, but here we are.
    I love this thing so much! Even want to rewatch the enjoyable but very imperfect Generations again. I even have an old Tee shirt from generations.
    I’m glad I’m not the only one who got so emotional seeing this!
    I loathe nu-trek, so this felt very much like a lovely closure.
    Maybe we’ll see some good trek in the future! I’d like trek made by people who love and understand it rather than a J J Abrams who admitted he never liked Star Trek. 😡
    Thank you OTOY! ❤❤❤❤

  • @J3335
    @J3335 День назад +2

    I'm not sure if this has been said, obviously this is Kirk's goodbye to Spock and the closure needed, but I think maybe this is also Shatner wishing he and Nimoy hadn't fallen out at the end, and he had had the chance to make peace with Nimoy before the end. He couldn't do that in real life, but through Star Trek he could. Just my 2 cents.

    Yes; tears. 765874 opens perfectly. The end for Kirk and Spock starts at the beginning. Gary Mitchell (Gary Lockwood) from "Where No Man Has Gone Before"; Kirk's friend, corrupted, a dark god, floating in space. Kirk sees himself as he appeared in the beginning, and end. Star Trek endures: Saavik (Robin Curtis) is with Sorak, her son with Spock. "How we deal with death is at least as important as how we deal with life": Kirk to Saavik, unknowingly portending the death of Spock, his best friend, the only person to solve the Kobayashi Maru by dying. It's how Kirk and Spock meet death here. Kirk doesn't try to cheat death, Unification is complete: Kirk's with Spock at the end, as it should have always been. Kirk and Spock; our great heroes at journeys end.

    I have commented before, this is more William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy for their love and admiration for each other. You have been and always shall be our friends. Live Long and Prosper.

    Trekkies losing themselves over this. I dont see why. The de-aging CGI still isnt there it looks like a videogame. 90 year old Shatner reprises his role but his posture is totally different and makes kirk look 'odd'. The score couldnt be less trek if it tried & narratively its an incoherant mess.. what is actually going on? Its bad fan fiction but that being said, its still the best trek we've had in over a decade. And that is fkn SAD.

      The de-aging is leaps ahead of where it was for say.....Tarkin in Rogue One and other recent movies like Dial of Destiny. The young Kirk was pretty dang good.

    • @armyfirefighter

      What's going on? Pretty simple. In real life, William Shatner was not able to attend Leonard Nimoy's funeral. Something he very much regrets. So the Roddenberry Archives and OTOY with the license of Paramount that made this canonical, put together these series of films so that in way Shatner is able to say goodbye to his friend though Kirk being able to say goodbye to Spock. They kind of have to move whole universes to do it in the film - as it would need in reality. So, it is a fan fic but with a reason and that is why people like it so much.
