  • The Mecanum wheel is a omnidirectional wheel design for a land-based vehicle to move in any direction. It is sometimes called the Ilon wheel after its inventor, Bengt Erland Ilon (1923-2008), who came up with the concept while working as an Engineer with the Swedish company Mecanum AB, and patented it in the United states on November 13, 1972.
    DESIGN CONCEPT
The Mecanum wheel is based on a TIRELESS wheel, with a series of RUBBERIZED external rollers obliquely attached to the whole circumference of its rim. These rollers typically each have an axis of rotation at 45° to the wheel plane and at 45° to the Axle line. Each Mecanum wheel is an independent non-steering drive wheel with its own powertrain, and when spinning generates a propelling Force perpendicular to the roller axle, which can be vector into a longitudinal and a transverse component in relation to the vehicle.

This video will focus on improving the beginners skills in fusion 360.
This is nice exercise to put to practice what we have learned so far.
In this video you will find about basic use of commands like extrude, fillet, chamfer, loft , trim , stitch , sweep ,creating sketch , sheet metal etc.

For those struggling with the bend part at 11:34 you gotta create multiple bends and make sure when you click "stationary side" its outside of the area that will be bent. At least that worked for me

Your workflow is not parametric and
    YOUR ROLLER GEOMETRY IS WRONG
You can't just put in a cubic Bezier with a tangent constraint till it looks kinda like a mecanum wheel. Think about the crossections. In the end when viewing the wheel as a whole in orthographic projection the outer edges of the rollers MUST form a perfect circle. (Otherwise you're going to get bumpy wheels) if you think about it, you have a profile that when projected at a plane 45° to it's sketch plane MUST look like a perfect circle. There's only one possible profile that does this: an *ellipse with it's the ratio between it's semimajor and semiminor axes of sqrt(2)*

I don't use inventor , bending in this video is a sheet metal workspace command , I don't know if inventor has one or not?
      U try making it manually

Hi, I don't know when you will see my comment, but I request you to please reply as when using the bend command it works for 5 bends correctly but for the remaining three it selects the different side. You skipped that part in the video, can you help me to tackle this? Thanks in advance.

Not sure if the creator of this video is reading comments, but I have a suggestion for future videos to make them even more helpful to us:
since this is not a beginner's lesson, you can skip saying things like "Select C for Circle," "D for Dimension," and similar basic instructions. Also, it would be very helpful if you began with an overview of what the object is comprised of in terms of Fusion 360 elements (for example, "This plate is just a circular pattern of lines and fillets, and this bend is not complicated--we will do that in the sheet metal workspace. Then when you began drawing specific areas, it is helpful if you refer to and show us the finished object again so we can see what you are starting on and better be able to grasp what you are doing.
By doing this, we as the students can immediately begin to try to think through the problem and see if our predictions are correct by watching what you are doing. When our thinking is wrong, we are immediately shown how to do it correctly. I hope this helps.

The thing i do is to try solve this by my own before i continue through the video. And every mistake i do each time, i write down to remember for future projects.

i agree with you except one. whats the matter with select c for circle or d for dimensions ? these basic and useful things are very helpful to me.
