    Really good fundamentals video for Kalita Wave brewing. For the 185, I would recommend 30g of coffee and slightly finer grind with an extraction time closer to 4 minutes in order to increase sweetness in the cup. After brewing, coffee bed should look like a flat bed of wet sand. Depth of coffee bed is as important as grind size in this brewer.

    For the ones who think this is a time waster: Slow home brewed coffee is half about how amazing it tastes, and half about the therapeutic, mindful, slow-morning routine. I did the "late to work, rush out the door, chug coffee, burn tongue, run a red light" thing for far too long before prioritizing a slow morning, resulting in a much more mindful and joy filled day, noticing the small things.
    I make Chemex pour overs every morning, and I enjoyed this video :)

    Great video. I normally make espresso at home, but have slowly worked my way into the world of pour overs. It's not my everyday cup, more for the days off. It's such a relaxed way of making coffee. Even if you pour a little more or less than a recipe says, it still makes a good cup of coffee. Cheers!

    the good thing about style is that it is largely based on personal opinion and taste. coffee, on the otherhand, is a lot more scientific, although it still can be affected by personal bias. while this video was good and nice departure from clothing, there were a couple things I disagree with. the kalita "185" refers to the size, the smaller one is called the "155". the system itself is called the "wave". the kettle you own is also based on the same design aesthetic from kalita. the best part of the design is actually not the three holes, as there are plenty of small, three hole, V-shaped drippers on the market. it is actually the flat bottom, which allows the water to properly make contact with the grounds promoting an even extraction. kalita's 'wave' paper filters are actually some of the cleanest on the market. especially the bleached, white ones you used in the video. while you can rinse them it is not necessary. rinsing is primarily used in preheating the brewer and the vessel that will hold your coffee. consistent temperature is one of the key elements in coffee brewing. i really do appreciate the content in this video and i am looking forward to future videos. these were just some things i disagreed with.

    • @Hueguh
      @Hueguh  6 лет назад +5

      Thank you for clarifying the Kalita nomenclature. I've seen the no rinse filter debate for a while now, however, I still get a faint paper taste. Thanks for watching!

    @Hueguh thanks for recommending Blue Bottle! Just received a sample in the mail today and I'm considering subscribing. I have the same setup as you except for my scale. I've been using the Acaia Pearl scale for over a year now. I highly recommend it if you're ever looking for an upgrade.

      I have been looking to upgrade, so hard to tell when the button has been pushed on the Hario. I would love to pick up an Acaia some day!

    When I go more minimalist, J won't be spendin all my more productive time with all that when I can just put a spoon full of coffee in a cup, add hot water and milk if I want and just drink it

    Everything that you did on this video is exactly the same with me every morning :). Moreover, i love experimenting new bean variety which surprisingly has its own unique taste and aroma. Regards from Indonesia :)
