Idk the updated side wasn't incredible and we haven't seen the updated moderate overlap test. This is a solid car but I'm not sure it surpasses Volvo. That Rivian though...
This is a requirement in Europe and it’s to prevent the 2 front passengers from smacking into each other. The annoy thing is that most new cars sold in Europe have them, but mfrs remove them for the US market.
Even though the crash test results are good, Hyundai Motor Company (Genesis) will start with next year's model year It is said to increase the stiffness of the body even more.
You guys (IIHS) are going to let the Lexus RZ slide with 17cm hinge pillar intrusion (with a good structure rating) whereas this Hyundai Ioniq gets 11cm on passenger side and gets downgraded to acceptable structure rating for even less hinge pillar intrusion?
too much pillar deformation.. hope a lot of you in the comments are reading the actual sub-ratings for the test and not just reading the overall "good." For 2023, this car's hinge pillar got bruised and battered and pushed back... poor foot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These electric vehicles are destroying 20 years of safety advancements that the insurance institute has done. They are way too heavy and when they hit a combustion engine vehicle the difference in weight ends up being catastrophic for the gasoline car. I feel that the insurance institute should Mark down EVS if the weight is over 6,000 lb. Regardless of it passes all their tests with flying colors. For example if the vehicle is over 6,000 lb it should get marked accordingly with their rating system the heavier it gets. So 7,000 lb could mean an acceptable rating due to the risk of others in the road. I really hope the insurance industry nips these EVS in the butt. We are counting on you because we do not want these horribly unsafe vehicles on our roads
The sound it makes when hitting the barrier is cool. :D The Genesis GV70 looks gorgeous btw., beautiful design for an SUV, in my vision.
Дизайн так а що це позашляховик невпевнений 😅дуже смішно
@@ОлександрІвасик-и5о почему? это выглядит не плохо, in my vision 😂
Lol did that one tiny piece of debris get launched into orbit, and then land at 0:05?
That’s exactly what i thought at first
Haha glad someone else saw that
Genesis is the next Volvo.
The Next Korean Volvo to be exact :D
Not even close

@@SuperMrgentlemanrivian R1S (or R1T idk) did poorly in the updated moderate overlap test
Would that new, interior airbag located to the right of the driver smack the passenger? Does the passenger get that airbag too when present?

Somewhat curious why the small overlap crash test doesn't include a 2nd row dummy like the Moderate overlap crash test now.🤔
That’s a rear seat test
moderate overlap gives the rear passengers a harder time I believe
스몰오버랩은 차량의 강성이 중요한영향을 미치는것이라 앞부분만테스트하는거고 뒷자석은 옵셋이나 스몰오버랩이나 비슷한결과일듯

I remember building these. Could probably find the body number to it.
almost looks like secure-foam from Demolition Man
You can see the force is passed on to the rear door, which makes me wonder if both front and rear door could be open after the collision?
Looked more solid from the top view tho…
How about G90?
Good
It squirted some pink liquid! Eww!

G90 next please
Want to see G90 video
They haven’t uploaded it, you’d have to check tech data
I thought it was part of the prep process to remove all fluids? Why wasn't this car drained of all fluids too? Was the setup missing steps?
