  • Learn how to deliver a devastating body rip/liver shot from a former World Champion!
In this video Ben will providing an in-depth instructional on how to land a body rip/liver shot that will have your opponent reeling!
    Things to remember:
    1) Making contact
An orthodox fighter will be using their lead hand (left) to make contact with their opponent's liver (assuming they are also an orthodox fighter).
    2) Setting your shoulders
There is a night and day difference between an 'arm' punch and a full body punch. By setting your shoulders correctly (pulling back the shoulder that will be firing the shot and pivoting in that direction, you'll give yourself the best chance of getting some real force into your strike.
    3) Visualise the trajectory (liver to opposite side shoulder diagonal trajectory)
A trick that works suprisingly well to generate more power is to visualise. You want to be visualising your fist that will be making contact as a blade and drive it through the opposite shoulder to where you make impact on your opponent.
    4) Palm up
Ensure that when making impact your fist is closed and your palm is facing up.
    5) Support your shot with your elbow
You want your elbow to provide as much support as possible to your fist that will be making contact, don't mess around with funny angles, just drill the shot straight through your opponent with the elbow reinforcing your fist.
    The setup
Here are two options you can use to setup your body hook/liver shot.
    1) Cross - body shot/liver shot
    2) Slip - body shot/liver shot
Both of these are solid options as they automatically set your shoulders in the right position to land the devastating blow.
