This video will discuss the different types of Muay Thai heavy bag options that can be used when training. In the beginning, it is often difficult to know which type of Muay Thai heavy bag is best as there are so many different brands, types, shapes and sizes on the market.
This can leave a new Muay Thai student feeling overwhelmed.
Ben will go through the 3 most common types of Muay Thai heavy bags in this video, highlighting the benefits and drawbacks of each.
Here are the types of bags that will be covered:
    1) Ideal for Muay Thai (light and long)
A great beginner bag, especially for those looking to train the multiple weapons employed in Muay Thai. You'll be able to practise a wide variety of leg kicks, punching combinations, knees and elbows. However, it is worth noting that due to how light the bag is, you'll struggle to put together heavy combinations (due to the bag's lack of ability to absorb power without significant movement), therefore you must adapt your style to the bag.
    2) Standard Boxing (light and short)
A solid choice if your primary concern is to work on your boxing. This bag, unfortunately, doesn't allow for low kick practise unless you bring it down and rest it on something to support it. Similar to the previous bag, due to the weight of the bag you'll likely find it not possible to throw heavy combinations.
    3) Ben's favourite (heavy and long)
The Fairtex heavy bag is no joke. It can absorb power punches and has the length that allows you to unleash all of your moves on it. Although it is Ben's top pick, it isn't necessarily the best option for a home gym. This is predominantly due to how big and heavy it is (you don't want to tear up your ceiling or crash through some walls!).

Thank you for the review, sport stores near me don’t sell Muay Thai bags. So I’m trying to buy online but don’t know which bag to pick. From 4,5 or 6 or which weight size to get. This kinda help. I have a stand for it but just can’t decide which bag will be good

Yeah check out the aqua bag. Also the double-end bag and reflex bag. Both train different capacities and are way easier on your body than a heavy bag.

Im currently around 65 kg and I have a 31 kg heavy bag but I want to get a banana style bag to practice leg kicks. Also the 31 kg bag just moves around too much for me now as I've practiced. Is there any bag youd recommend? I am in the US.

Can't go wrong with the fairtex 6ft banana bag! Fill it with rags like old clothes. Be aware that it will take LOTS of rags.. probably over 50kg of rags and it will take you a few hours to fill it, but the finished bag will be amazing.

@@the-tfc-gym I been reading a lot that they just don't move right and don't have a lot of movement which is why people don't like banana bags..if u had to have only one bag between banana 6ft and 5 foot heavy bag 80 to 100lbs which one would u chose?
Iam looking for one to do muay thai and boxing but only have room for one bag.. already have 40lbs round watwr bag and double end bag

80lb/36kg banana bag heavy enough for a 180lb/85kg athletic beginner?
I found one for a really good price I'm on the fence about it lol

    • @1krazyking

Have mine on layaway its the same size 80 bucks not bad. Im not learning to let out anger just want to hit something with precision and focus really on combinations and movement. Like shadowboxing but. Its recommended a bag size half your weight. If your looking for s0mething to absorb your punch definitely look in a 100lb bag. Honeslty you have like 1/3 more body weight on the bag thats close enough. The issue is I guess mobility and positioning of the bag to get creative and work with what you have.

Is 5ft heavybag with and weight of 28kg okay for the home workout some kicks and punches?

    • @the-tfc-gym
      @the-tfc-gym  3 года назад

Depends on how big you are! if it weighs 28kg and you are 100kg, it may be a little light and move alot when you hit it. If you haven't purchased anything yet, I would personally recommend something heavier but it you have it already, it's a good starting point for your training and as you get more experienced you may choose to upgrade.
