I have these for a year now. No problems with the stitching. Nicest thing is you can use them without bandages. Even for my brittle hands they give good protection. The wrist locking system is superb. Only disadvantage is that they’re too hard for sparring. Finest gloves I’ve ever had.
I've used these for about six months now and there are some discoloration. This discoloration actually started happening after the first time I've used them, it just got worse. Some stitching on the leather piping of the strap also popped. I air them out after every session. Applied vaseline on the glove today after reading on reddit. I'll see if the discoloration slows down. Also to mention, I've contacted Rival about the discoloration after the first session via email and instagram and I've not received a response.
I just use traditional 12oz gloves for heavy bag. I wrap my wrists with RDX Powerlifting Wrist Wraps and use Tuf Wear gel quickwraps over the top of those. I later found out that some pro boxers prefer to use quick wraps as well so it seems I was onto something. I'm not knocking these Rival bag gloves since I never used them, although they seem pretty expensive, for some of the features that seem fairly gimmicky to me.
I bought one of these. Love them. Lasted 3 trainings :( Until the nylon strap broke from the seam. I loved the protection they gave to my hand (for a "10oz" glove - 10,8oz left, 11,2oz right).
Been following your reviews for a few years now! I've got a pair of Everlast Protex3 Evergel Hook & Loop 12oz Boxing Gloves that I've been using for bag work for the last couple of years. I love them but looking for something with more support and pop. I bought these exact Cyber Edition gloves earlier today before watching your review, which made me happy about the decision I made! Thanks for the solid review/feedback.
Nice video as usual! After using the RB10 bag gloves and watching this video, I do hope they could improve the wrist area of RB10 especially the thickness of cuff which is a little bit thinner than this or rb11v IMO.
Hey Carlos, thank you for this review, it is the only one I could find. I've been eying the Rival RFX-Guerrero-V Bag Gloves since a while. However, in Germany, these newer Intelli-shock Bag Gloves are just 30 € more expensive, so I might choose them instead, since I love the pop sound. I am recovering from a shoulder injury, so there will be no sparring and intensive partner work for months, but soon I will finally able to do bag work again. And we have Covid lockdown anyway, so this feels like a reasonable opportunity to get nice bag gloves. Unfortunately, this slick cyber edition is sold out and I don't like the white & gold version that much visually. Would prefer the black & gold Venum hammer. Or the grey and gold RFX. It's a pity the only available version of the Intelli-shock currently is white. Best wishes, Martin
Thanks Carlo, I've been waiting for this review! Love the style of these gloves but I don't think the d3o worth the extra money. Now I'm just about to order the guerrero HDE-F bag glove. Do you confirm they outperform the rb50? keep up the good work, I love your content!
Thanks man, yeah they outperform the rb50 especially the wrist support. The hdef is just as good you don’t get the same hard pop as these but still just as good imo protection wise
Thanks for the real honest review!!! Way better than that other British guy who has the boxing review channel. Just subscribed to yours and unsubscribed from that other guy. Keep being honest!!!
Nice glove. It seems loma signed with venum for a signature glove... so maybe rival said screw it ppl will see the colour and print and automatically associate them with loma. 🧐
My wrists hurt after a few rounds in on the heavy bag, I always wrap my hands, also use gel knuckle pads and they still hurt. Will this go away over time if I keep training? I do have small wrists but I weight 14 stone at 6ft, I think god has mugged me off with little shitty Mayweather hands
You should tape off your wrists before hand wrapping to make sure it’s more secure. Also ice your wrists after training with an ice pack to reduce swelling
Gets some Johnson’s athletic tape. You can get another brand but some are not as easy to tear pieces off. Just find the happy medium and don’t wrap the tape too tight.
Does your wrist hurt when striking without gloves? Till you answer try these out... 1) strengthen your forearms - plenty on youtube (inc grip strength) and add some knuckle planks (pushup position but on your knuckles) 2) try some fight gloves - but caveat is that they're soft rather than hard. Large gloves (training/bag/sparring) are so large they can introduce poor striking and twist the wrist. 3) better positioning inside the glove - try altering how much wrap you have over your hands (not wrist) to improve fit in the hand compartment. Often you can strike on the 2nd knuckles too - the next ones down your fingers (which causes problems with the tendons through the wrist) - try adding a knuckle pad to bring the striking surface forward. 4) make sure you're striking correctly - try striking on the middle two knuckles (jack Dempsey's advice). Remember the knuckle plank? You naturally sit on the middle two knuckles. 5) gripping with thumb - some gloves have a very straight thumb, some are very winged. By gripping and cranking down with the thumb you engage the forearm, making everything tight. Give them a go and remember that some bags are rock hard. Combine that with a rock hard glove and it's like punching a brick wall.
Do you think 8 Oz would fit me? With wraps on Hand circumference - 8" Closed fist circumference - 10" Bottom of palm to top of middle finger - 7" Tip of thumb to tip of picky - 7.5"
How is the hand pocket for these? I'm a XL when it comes for their bag gloves (RB11). Also , how do they compare in terms of hardness on impact with the RB11? I really like the RB11's for light mitts but would like a bit more cushion, spring back or I guess feedback? When hitting a heavy and hard bag.
Good afternoon! Really enjoy your videos. Would it be possible to do a video on how to make the stand-alone bags (like my Century 2XL Pro) stop bouncing when I'm hitting it, if such an endeavour is possible? I've tried unsuccessfully. Thank you for your time and teaching.
Hi! Thanks for the review. I was thinking of getting these. I just got the venum shield mostly for sparring based on your recommendation and I am really loving them. So thanks! I haven’t used them for sparring yet but have been using them on the bag. They are so comfortable. Since I like those I was thinking of getting the venum hammer for bag gloves cause i saw your review of those too.. But I think these look cooler and the wrist support looks better. How do they compare for you in terms of comfort and performance?
He reviewed the Powerlocks before if I am not mistaken. They would be the same. Same leather, same padding, same durability. Usually a "women" glove is only different in colors and size. Hope this helps a bit.
@@hectoribarra1245 there holding up but I baby them I'll only use them for 2 to 3 rounds on the heavy bag out of 12 rounds and always on the double end bag padding has gone down some but I don't really throw my all with them on the bag just really tap and work on shoulder and arm conditioning
Carlo, would you say that the 2 things that are holding Rival back from being in the same rank (or better than) with Winnings and Fly is their quality control, and Rivals not using genuine leather for alot of their products ?
@@csquaredboxing I know. I was just kidding....or was I 🤔?? Hehe. Great videos by the way. I made my last 2 purchases of the rival rb80 impulse and venum impact based on your reviews and was exactly what you said it would feel like. How would you compare the shock absorption and hand protection of these compared to the RB 50 bag gloves?
Finally after months of waiting rival finally got these back in stock and I snagged a pair of 10oz. Hoping this batch are better quality wise as I've heard some say they are already falling apart on them after a few months of use. Do you wear wraps with these or is it too tight? I have same hand size as you roughly but have a really bad wrist so I have to wrap my hands.
Man Carlo, must say I'm disappointed. My D30s are my go to when I'm working the bag for a class or extended session. Really sad they couldn't get their QC on point with this pair, seems like they cared more about the fancy embroidery and design rather than the gloves...these aren't cheap either!!
What’s the inner lining like? I have the RB10, which I like for the most part but I’ve noticed that retain odor (despite wiping them down and using glove deodorizers) and that I occasionally get blisters on my middle knuckles in part because the lining is a little abrasive. Great videos!
If u want to get rid of rly stinking gloves the aggressive way which. Seem to work for me is spray inner with dettol antiseptic liquid and blast interior with air dryer on low but high heat
Great review as always. Would these 10oz gloves be a good fit for a 9.5-10 hand circumference? I always get gloves in xl I'm worried they may be to small if you say the 10oz fit you good? Thank you
Thanks Carlo! I just got a pair of these in 10oz but the tip of my middle finger sticks into the leather, they feel great otherwise, but I'm guessing they're too small for me? What would you recommend? All the best!
