And once the Restrainer is taken away..the Holy Spirit filled church..'the fullness of lawlessness will abound, then the son of perdition will arise' with 'peace peace & peace-& probably say the aliens have taken them 'for your safety'. Then its time again for God's dealing with the Jews..(who He has always loved but set aside for their idolatry & continual disobedience but allowed for the Gentiles to come in..the church to come forth in His name!. I m in JD Farags Bible Study on Daniel. Just in chapter 2 next. It seems the Holy Spirit is putting it on the hearts of a few teachers on line to preach from this amazing book that coincides with the Book of Revelation !
How I thank God for raising up such anointed teachers as Martyn for such a time as this. How we need to be encouraged to hold on in faith in the face of overwhelming odds for He is truly worthy and His word is powerful. It really is mind blowing!

I found the answer to my own question in the John MacArthur study Bible. A key factor in the “ brainwashing “ process of the Babylonian training was a name switch. This was to link the inductees to local gods rather than support their former religious loyalty. Daniel means” God is my judge” but became Belteshazzar, or Bel Protect the King. Hananiah, “the Lord is Gracious “ was changed to Shadrach “Command of Aku “another Babylonian god. Mishael meaning “who is like the Lord ?” Was given the name Meshach, “who is what Aku is ?” Finally Azariah “the Lord of my Helper,” became Abed-nego, “ Servant of Nego”, also called Nebo, a god of vegetation.
Eloi! Eloi! Lama Sabachthani? My God! My God! Why have you abandoned me? Why did Jesus cry out with this question? Jesus hung on His cross for six hours. It is my understanding that for the first three hours He suffered the normal torture that crucifixion is intended to inflict. However, the final three hours were unspeakably different. The sun was blotted out, the sky went dark and the real suffering began as the full fury of Gods’ wrath and punishment for the collective sins of the world was poured out upon Him. This punishment was meted out full measure, not only 'in' the presence of the Father (as symbolized by the darkness ie: Gods’ presence in Judgement & punishment), but 'by' the Father Himself. Yet not one complaint was heard from our Lord during the horror of this ordeal. He willingly became our sacrificial Lamb and bore the burden of our sin in Himself. However, the full and final consequence of sin is total, absolute, and eternal, separation from God. Therefore, in order for Jesus to redeem us fully, He had to endure that final and worst imaginable insult, the complete separation from His Father, which he had not, in all of eternity, ever before experienced. This, seemingly unexpected agony, coming at the end of a long day of ever intensifying torture, was by far the most shocking experience of our Lords’ ordeal in completing His selfless act of sacrificial love and obedience to His Father in securing the redemption of His most special and most loved creation, mankind. So, when Jesus cried out, “My God! My God! Why have you abandoned me?”, (directing those present to Psalm 22) He was, at that darkest, most despairing, most shocking and unbearable moment, suffering the ultimate consequence of sin (my sin / your sin) experienced in the total abandonment of, and separation from, Abba Father. This single experience was far more agonizing than the preceding three hours of darkness and judgement, added to the three hours of regular crucifixion experienced previous to that, combined with the prior torture at the hands of the Romans and the initial betrayal and humiliation at the hands of His own people who had violently and cruelly rejected Him, falsely accused Him, had Him illegally tried, illegally tortured and then illegally murdered. Jesus cried out, not in physical agony, but in the deepest agony that soul and spirit could possibly experience … the agony and desolation of total and complete separation from God. And in the same moment, His suffering being at last complete, and our ransom having been fully paid, the judgement ceased. The darkness of Gods’ total absence (in judgement & punishment), preceded by the darkness that had accompanied His presence (in judgement) was then immediately lifted, and the light of His presence in ‘restored fellowship’ returned. We cannot comprehend it… I am not worthy, and yet Christ went through all of that torment for me. I truly need the scales to be removed from my eyes again, so that I can see clearly. Jesus died for the trauma and oppression that is upon my life, and that of my adult children… For every generational curse that appears to be upon one of my daughters and myself. Never ending infirmity upon my youngest (33yrs old) including mental illness. I had an aha moment on Daniel 7 a while ago. It isn’t just a ‘to be ignored repeat’ of Daniel 2. Those winds of verse one get up until all four are simultaneously blowing from 4 directions making it an impossible sea for a church boat. I think we have been seeing the first Babylonianish beast of the west rising with its pharmakeia and trade and corruption. The left and right wing of the political set are both taking us in the same direction and the US is being torn in two. Take a map of the Middle East and colour in Iran, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon with the same colour, then rotate it 90 degrees. What do you see with its nose on Israel? If the crouching animal wants to raise up on one side it must thrust out a leg. That is more possible now that the US is out of Afghanistan. It’s mouth is touching Jordan(Edom, Moab, Ammon)
I can’t think of any office more blasphemous than the office of the pope. He is by his very existence declaring that Jesus Christ is not the head of the church but rather he is. In fact, a literal interpretation of the office is that He himself is Christ on earth. His title Pontifex Maximus, means that he is the greatest mediator between God and man. He isn’t the only mediator, as Mary, the saints and every priest and cardinal who takes confession are as well. Scripture is clear that we have just one. Jesus and only Jesus. And he will think to change times and laws.......The Council of Nicaea in A.D. 325 Roman Emperor Constantine and the Catholic Church established Sunday as a day of rest. And at the Council of Laodicea around 365, the Catholic Church made it illegal to “Judaize” or be idle from work on the seventh-day Sabbath. Well who would think to dishonor God's day of rest, established in Genesis 2 I might add and No it wasn't a law of Moses and done away with at the cross. God blessed the sabbath and separated it as Holy, Only God is Holy so for God to make a day Holy it must be very special to him. I pray God's people will wake up and take God's 4Th commandment seriously.

Thanks Martyn. Daniel’s prophecies are especially relevant to our times and the time, times and half a time just around the corner. It’s good to be reminded of them and their relevance. Just a caution: I think there was a reference to Daniel 10. In my LSB version it mentions Gabriel was delayed by a prince and goes on to refer to Michael as a prince. The Hebrew for both references is the same and I couldn’t see a reference where that Hebrew word was ever used as demon.
Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but He revealeth His secret unto His servants the prophets. God does not want us to be ignorant of the things in the Bible. We should know who the little horn is and what it means that the little horn intends to change times and laws. Here's a clue... Which of God's ten commandments deals with time? Ack. Love your treatment of the topic but ...-why is it we use the Babylonian names of Daniel's friends? Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. Babylonian names had ties to Babylonian dieties. They deserve better. Pointing at log in my own eye. I did have to looke them up.
We don’t use Belteshasazzar which is Daniel’s Babylonian name, so why do we use the Babylonian names of Hananiah, Mishael, & Azariah ? Just a small question, but maybe they would rather be remembered as their God given names. Though I know it’s easier to remember the Babylonian names. Just a thought.

"The four winds of the heavens" is NOT saying that God is the cause of the "stirring up of the vast (symbolic) sea" at Daniel 7:2, creating political governments from agitated, restless mankind, for how many have read Revelation 13:1, 2, that states: "And it ("the dragon", Satan the Devil, Rev 12:9) stood still on the sand of the (symbolic) sea. And I saw a wild beast ascending out of the sea (just as at Daniel 7), with ten horns and seven heads, and on its horns ten diadems, but on its heads blasphemous names." "Now the wild beast that I saw was like a leopard, but its feet were like those of a bear, and its mouth was like a lion’s mouth (or the combination of the first three "beasts" at Daniel 7, thus denoting the entire political system under Satan's authority and not a single political government). And the dragon gave to the beast its power and its throne and great authority" . Rather, "the four winds of the heavens (that) were stirring up the vast sea", is pictorial of the masses of radical, unstable mankind as wanting to create their own political governments from different directions, each being unique in political structure. The "four kings" stand for four political governments or world powers that held sway over God's people, with Daniel 7 saying that "in the first year of King Bel·shazʹzar of Babylon (about 556 B.C.E.), Daniel saw a dream and visions of his head as he lay on his bed......." "I was watching in my visions during the night, and look ! the four winds of the heavens were stirring up the vast sea (or the raging of unstable determined to create their own political entities). And four huge beasts (or political empires, NOT individuals) came out of the sea (or the restless, unstable, agitated masses of mankind, see Isa 17:12; 57:20, 21), each (governmental empire) different from the others."(Dan 7:1-3) Note: the first two political governments that ruled over God's people of the Israelites were Egypt, from about 1728 B.C.E. till 1513 B.C.E., see Ex chpts 1-14 and then Assyria, see Isa 52:4, with Assyria starting to exercise control of the ten tribe kingdom of Israel during the reign of king Menahem (reigned about 790-781 B.C.E.), see 2 Kings 15:17-22, and Assyria's empire ended in 632 B.C.E., at the hands of King Nabopolassar of Babylon and Cyaxares the Mede. The third world power to rule over God's people was ancient Babylon, as Daniel 7:4 describes: "The first one was like a lion (under the rulership of King Nebuchadnezzar, reigned 625-582 B.C.E., who was fierce, see Dan 3:16-20), and it had the wings of an eagle (or was swift in taking down other nations, see Isa 14:16, 17)." Daniel 7:5 describes the next (or 4th) world power to hold sway over God's people: "And look ! another beast, a second one, like a bear. It was raised up on one side, and three ribs were in its mouth between its teeth; and it was told, ‘Get up, eat much flesh.’ " This next world power were the Medo-Persians. On the night of October 5/6, 539 B.C.E. Daniel told King Belshazzar: "This is the interpretation of the words (or writing on the wall, Dan 5:5): MEʹNE, God has numbered the days of your kingdom and brought it to an end. TEʹKEL, you have been weighed in the balances and found lacking. PEʹRES, your kingdom has been divided and given to the Medes and the Persians.”(Dan 5:26-28; Note: Medo-Persia is also called a "ram" at Dan 8:4, 20) Daniel 7:6 describes the 5th "kingdom" that followed the Medo-Persian empire: "After this I kept watching, and look ! another beast, like a leopard (depicting being swift), but on its back it had four wings like those of a bird (that shows this "kingdom" as very fast in defeating other nations, extending its territory). And the beast had four heads, and it was given authority to rule." This was the "kingdom of Greece", that began with Alexander the Great (reigned 336-323 B.C.E.) and ended with four of his generals (or "four heads") fighting among themselves for control of the vast territory that Alexander the Great has conquered, from Macedonia to just beyond the Indus River in India. Daniel 7:7 describes the 6th world power, ancient Rome, saying: "After this I kept watching in the visions of the night, and I saw a fourth beast, fearsome and terrifying and unusually strong, and it had large iron teeth. It was devouring and crushing, and what was left it trampled down with its feet. It was different from all the other beasts that were prior to it, and it had ten horns." This ties in with Daniel 2:40, that says: "As for the fourth kingdom, it will be strong like iron. For just as iron crushes and pulverizes everything else, yes, like iron that shatters, it will crush and shatter all of these." Then, there comes "ten horns" (or "ten kings", Dan 7:24) or the complete number of other nations (NOT ten literal kings) that arises from the "ashes" or dissolution of ancient Rome when it fell to the German warlord Odoacer in 476 C.E. Daniel 7:8 now describes the 7th and final world power of Bible history: "While I considered the horns, look ! another horn, a small one, came up among them, and three of the first horns were plucked up from before it. And look ! there were eyes like human eyes in this horn, and there was a mouth speaking arrogantly." Ancient Rome had established a colony in Britannia, or Britain, from about 43 C.E. when Claudius was the Roman Emperor till 410 C.E. when the Romans pulled out, having created the city of Londinium, or Roman London, now called just London. From being ' a small horn ' that was insignificant for centuries after the Romans left, till it grew over the course of some 1,100 years as Britain and was able to ' pluck out three horns ', first the Spanish when it defeated the Spanish Armada in 1588 C.E. (with the help of a severe storm in the North Sea), then next took over the Dutch as the leading merchant marine at the end of the 17th century. And finally, Britain took down France as the last of the three "horns" at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815 C.E., notching itself as almost a part of the last world power, but it needed help to secure it to the end, with Britain joining hands with its "child", the United States during World War I, so that the Anglo/American world power came into existence, having grown into an arrogant "bigger horn".(Dan 7:20) The United States, along with Britain, is the 7th and LAST world power of human and Bible history, as Revelation 17:9, 10 expresses, in which the United States, and Britain backing it up, as the one "permitted to give breath (or life) to the image of the wild beast", initially the League of Nations in 1920 and then its resurrection out of the "abyss" or death-like state, as the United Nations in 1945.(Rev 17:8; Rom 10:7)

You have introduced me to Karl Keil and his thoughts on Daniel 7:25 which I have independently been grappling with for 10years with no confirmation anyone was thinking the same things. It’s wider, much wider than any of us comprehend. Gods divine providence is what Satan is trying to ‘replicate’ not change. But if the world’s population believes the false providence, Satans narcissistic supply is satisfied from his perspective at least. We all need to be on guard for the twisted ‘times and events’ presented progressively and subtly via doctrines of demons

Excellent, you can not read the Bible without observing this spiritual realm. My church is a very Bible teaching church but I miss this recognition of this realm.
Funny that we always refer to Daniel by his Hebrew name, but his three friends by their Babylonian names. Below is the short version of how to behave in Babylon. *Daniel 3:16-18* "Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego answered and said to the king, Nebuchadnezzar, “We have no need on this matter to present a defense to you. If it is so, our God, whom we serve, is able to rescue us from the furnace of blazing fire. And from your hand, O king, let him rescue us. And if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods, and the statue of gold that you have set up we will not worship.”"
We live with a spiritial reality that flashes at us at times more than others. GRACE SETS THE PACE. john 20 better to believe than see. New eyes. Love this message Martin, very encouraging and eye opening indeed! However, I would like to quickly challenge the notion that you made at the 30 minute mark of this sermon that 'I don't know what the horns mean and I don't think we can know'. I know that you said at the start you didn't want to get bogged down in eschatology for the sake of time and encouragement for the brethren, but I'd argue that in Daniel chapter 7, the angel gives Daniel the vision, AND the interpretation. Daniel 7:19-27 tells us very plainly what the horns are, and what they represent. I would encourage everyone to read that passage, because it tells us that while the little horn triumphs over God's holy people for 3.5 years, then King Jesus will return and 'the sovereignty, power and greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven will be handed over to the holy people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him.' Daniel 7:27 NIV Bless you all!

That's 10 minus 3, which equals 7, not 10 plus 7. The little horn is the papacy, not Israel. Daniel specifically mentions that he sees the horn on the 4th beast, and all of the beasts in Dan. 7 represent Gentile empires. God NEVER refers to Israel in prophecy as being a beast empire.

I had spent six years in the New Age religion but still looking for a reason to live. He showed me it was Himself, and removed my remorse and anger and self destruction. I was forty-one years old. I think an important prayer is for the peace of Jerusalem as the Bibie commends us to do..yes pray for our Govts too. I like to pray that they stand with Israel yet we know the Bible says : all nations will turn their back on her.

I found the answer to my own question in the John MacArthur study Bible. A key factor in the “ brainwashing “ process of the Babylonian training was a name switch. This was to link the inductees to local gods rather than support their former religious loyalty. Daniel means” God is my judge” but became Belteshazzar, or Bel Protect the King. Hananiah, “the Lord is Gracious “ was changed to Shadrach “Command of Aku “another Babylonian god. Mishael meaning “who is like the Lord ?” Was given the name Meshach, “who is what Aku is ?” Finally Azariah “the Lord of my Helper,” became Abed-nego, “ Servant of Nego”, also called Nebo, a god of vegetation.

Why did Jesus cry out with this question?
Jesus hung on His cross for six hours. It is my understanding that for the first three hours He suffered the normal torture that crucifixion is intended to inflict. However, the final three hours were unspeakably different.
The sun was blotted out, the sky went dark and the real suffering began as the full fury of Gods’ wrath and punishment for the collective sins of the world was poured out upon Him. This punishment was meted out full measure, not only 'in' the presence of the Father (as symbolized by the darkness ie: Gods’ presence in Judgement & punishment), but 'by' the Father Himself. Yet not one complaint was heard from our Lord during the horror of this ordeal. He willingly became our sacrificial Lamb and bore the burden of our sin in Himself.
However, the full and final consequence of sin is total, absolute, and eternal, separation from God. Therefore, in order for Jesus to redeem us fully, He had to endure that final and worst imaginable insult, the complete separation from His Father, which he had not, in all of eternity, ever before experienced.
This, seemingly unexpected agony, coming at the end of a long day of ever intensifying torture, was by far the most shocking experience of our Lords’ ordeal in completing His selfless act of sacrificial love and obedience to His Father in securing the redemption of His most special and most loved creation, mankind.
So, when Jesus cried out, “My God! My God! Why have you abandoned me?”, (directing those present to Psalm 22) He was, at that darkest, most despairing, most shocking and unbearable moment, suffering the ultimate consequence of sin (my sin / your sin) experienced in the total abandonment of, and separation from, Abba Father.
This single experience was far more agonizing than the preceding three hours of darkness and judgement, added to the three hours of regular crucifixion experienced previous to that, combined with the prior torture at the hands of the Romans and the initial betrayal and humiliation at the hands of His own people who had violently and cruelly rejected Him, falsely accused Him, had Him illegally tried, illegally tortured and then illegally murdered.
Jesus cried out, not in physical agony, but in the deepest agony that soul and spirit could possibly experience … the agony and desolation of total and complete separation from God. And in the same moment, His suffering being at last complete, and our ransom having been fully paid, the judgement ceased. The darkness of Gods’ total absence (in judgement & punishment), preceded by the darkness that had accompanied His presence (in judgement) was then immediately lifted, and the light of His presence in ‘restored fellowship’ returned.
The debt had been paid in full, the legal requirement and demand of the Law was fulfilled, the ordeal was over … It was finished.

I am not worthy, and yet Christ went through all of that torment for me.

I had an aha moment on Daniel 7 a while ago. It isn’t just a ‘to be ignored repeat’ of Daniel 2. Those winds of verse one get up until all four are simultaneously blowing from 4 directions making it an impossible sea for a church boat. I think we have been seeing the first Babylonianish beast of the west rising with its pharmakeia and trade and corruption. The left and right wing of the political set are both taking us in the same direction and the US is being torn in two. Take a map of the Middle East and colour in Iran, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon with the same colour, then rotate it 90 degrees. What do you see with its nose on Israel? If the crouching animal wants to raise up on one side it must thrust out a leg. That is more possible now that the US is out of Afghanistan. It’s mouth is touching Jordan(Edom, Moab, Ammon)

I can’t think of any office more blasphemous than the office of the pope.
He is by his very existence declaring that Jesus Christ is not the head of the church but rather he is. In fact, a literal interpretation of the office is that He himself is Christ on earth.
His title Pontifex Maximus, means that he is the greatest mediator between God and man. He isn’t the only mediator, as Mary, the saints and every priest and cardinal who takes confession are as well. Scripture is clear that we have just one. Jesus and only Jesus.
And he will think to change times and laws.......The Council of Nicaea in A.D. 325 Roman Emperor Constantine and the Catholic Church established Sunday as a day of rest. And at the Council of Laodicea around 365, the Catholic Church made it illegal to “Judaize” or be idle from work on the seventh-day Sabbath.
Well who would think to dishonor God's day of rest, established in Genesis 2 I might add and No it wasn't a law of Moses and done away with at the cross.
God blessed the sabbath and separated it as Holy, Only God is Holy so for God to make a day Holy it must be very special to him. I pray God's people will wake up and take God's 4Th commandment seriously.

Thanks Martyn. Daniel’s prophecies are especially relevant to our times and the time, times and half a time just around the corner. It’s good to be reminded of them and their relevance. Just a caution: I think there was a reference to Daniel 10. In my LSB version it mentions Gabriel was delayed by a prince and goes on to refer to Michael as a prince. The Hebrew for both references is the same and I couldn’t see a reference where that Hebrew word was ever used as demon.

God does not want us to be ignorant of the things in the Bible. We should know who the little horn is and what it means that the little horn intends to change times and laws. Here's a clue... Which of God's ten commandments deals with time? Has someone changed that particular law???????!!!!!
Ack. Love your treatment of the topic but ...-why is it we use the Babylonian names of Daniel's friends? Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. Babylonian names had ties to Babylonian dieties. They deserve better. Pointing at log in my own eye. I did have to looke them up.

We don’t use Belteshasazzar which is Daniel’s Babylonian name, so why do we use the Babylonian names of Hananiah, Mishael, & Azariah ? Just a small question, but maybe they would rather be remembered as their God given names. Though I know it’s easier to remember the Babylonian names. Just a thought.

Walter can absolutely be trusted. All of a sudden worshippers of the sun (worshipping of the sunday) are trying to explain Daniel. I was as there as well. Thank God through Walter i woke up to the truth. You want to know the truth about Daniel and Revelation listen to the 7th day Adventists.

"The four winds of the heavens" is NOT saying that God is the cause of the "stirring up of the vast (symbolic) sea" at Daniel 7:2, creating political governments from agitated, restless mankind, for how many have read Revelation 13:1, 2, that states:
"And it ("the dragon", Satan the Devil, Rev 12:9) stood still on the sand of the (symbolic) sea. And I saw a wild beast ascending out of the sea (just as at Daniel 7), with ten horns and seven heads, and on its horns ten diadems, but on its heads blasphemous names."
"Now the wild beast that I saw was like a leopard, but its feet were like those of a bear, and its mouth was like a lion’s mouth (or the combination of the first three "beasts" at Daniel 7, thus denoting the entire political system under Satan's authority and not a single political government). And the dragon gave to the beast its power and its throne and great authority" .
Rather, "the four winds of the heavens (that) were stirring up the vast sea", is pictorial of the masses of radical, unstable mankind as wanting to create their own political governments from different directions, each being unique in political structure.
The "four kings" stand for four political governments or world powers that held sway over God's people, with Daniel 7 saying that "in the first year of King Bel·shazʹzar of Babylon (about 556 B.C.E.), Daniel saw a dream and visions of his head as he lay on his bed......."
"I was watching in my visions during the night, and look ! the four winds of the heavens were stirring up the vast sea (or the raging of unstable determined to create their own political entities). And four huge beasts (or political empires, NOT individuals) came out of the sea (or the restless, unstable, agitated masses of mankind, see Isa 17:12; 57:20, 21), each (governmental empire) different from the others."(Dan 7:1-3)
Note: the first two political governments that ruled over God's people of the Israelites were Egypt, from about 1728 B.C.E. till 1513 B.C.E., see Ex chpts 1-14 and then Assyria, see Isa 52:4, with Assyria starting to exercise control of the ten tribe kingdom of Israel during the reign of king Menahem (reigned about 790-781 B.C.E.), see 2 Kings 15:17-22, and Assyria's empire ended in 632 B.C.E., at the hands of King Nabopolassar of Babylon and Cyaxares the Mede.
The third world power to rule over God's people was ancient Babylon, as Daniel 7:4 describes: "The first one was like a lion (under the rulership of King Nebuchadnezzar, reigned 625-582 B.C.E., who was fierce, see Dan 3:16-20), and it had the wings of an eagle (or was swift in taking down other nations, see Isa 14:16, 17)."
"I watched until its wings were plucked out (or after Nebuchadnezzar died in 582 B.C.E. and Evil-merodach succeeded him, 2 Kings 25:27, releasing 54 year old Jehioachin after being in prison for almost 37 years under Nebuchadnezzar, 2 Kings 24:15, showing him kindness that Nebuchadnezzar failed to show at all, see also Jer 52:31-34),"
"and it was lifted up from the earth and was made to stand up on two feet like a man (or slowing down), and it was given the heart of a man (or instead of strong and fierce like a lion, becoming weaker like a man under the rulership of Evil-merodach to Nabonidus (reigned 556-539 B.C.E., Nebuchadnezzar's son-in-law that was married to his daughter Nitocris) and his son Belshazzar, whose coregency ended on October 5/6, 539 B.C.E.)."
Daniel 7:5 describes the next (or 4th) world power to hold sway over God's people: "And look ! another beast, a second one, like a bear. It was raised up on one side, and three ribs were in its mouth between its teeth; and it was told, ‘Get up, eat much flesh.’ " This next world power were the Medo-Persians.
On the night of October 5/6, 539 B.C.E. Daniel told King Belshazzar: "This is the interpretation of the words (or writing on the wall, Dan 5:5): MEʹNE, God has numbered the days of your kingdom and brought it to an end. TEʹKEL, you have been weighed in the balances and found lacking. PEʹRES, your kingdom has been divided and given to the Medes and the Persians.”(Dan 5:26-28; Note: Medo-Persia is also called a "ram" at Dan 8:4, 20)
Daniel 7:6 describes the 5th "kingdom" that followed the Medo-Persian empire: "After this I kept watching, and look ! another beast, like a leopard (depicting being swift), but on its back it had four wings like those of a bird (that shows this "kingdom" as very fast in defeating other nations, extending its territory). And the beast had four heads, and it was given authority to rule."
This was the "kingdom of Greece", that began with Alexander the Great (reigned 336-323 B.C.E.) and ended with four of his generals (or "four heads") fighting among themselves for control of the vast territory that Alexander the Great has conquered, from Macedonia to just beyond the Indus River in India.
Daniel 7:7 describes the 6th world power, ancient Rome, saying: "After this I kept watching in the visions of the night, and I saw a fourth beast, fearsome and terrifying and unusually strong, and it had large iron teeth. It was devouring and crushing, and what was left it trampled down with its feet. It was different from all the other beasts that were prior to it, and it had ten horns."
This ties in with Daniel 2:40, that says: "As for the fourth kingdom, it will be strong like iron. For just as iron crushes and pulverizes everything else, yes, like iron that shatters, it will crush and shatter all of these." Then, there comes "ten horns" (or "ten kings", Dan 7:24) or the complete number of other nations (NOT ten literal kings) that arises from the "ashes" or dissolution of ancient Rome when it fell to the German warlord Odoacer in 476 C.E.
Daniel 7:8 now describes the 7th and final world power of Bible history: "While I considered the horns, look ! another horn, a small one, came up among them, and three of the first horns were plucked up from before it. And look ! there were eyes like human eyes in this horn, and there was a mouth speaking arrogantly."
Ancient Rome had established a colony in Britannia, or Britain, from about 43 C.E. when Claudius was the Roman Emperor till 410 C.E. when the Romans pulled out, having created the city of Londinium, or Roman London, now called just London.
From being ' a small horn ' that was insignificant for centuries after the Romans left, till it grew over the course of some 1,100 years as Britain and was able to ' pluck out three horns ', first the Spanish when it defeated the Spanish Armada in 1588 C.E. (with the help of a severe storm in the North Sea), then next took over the Dutch as the leading merchant marine at the end of the 17th century.
And finally, Britain took down France as the last of the three "horns" at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815 C.E., notching itself as almost a part of the last world power, but it needed help to secure it to the end, with Britain joining hands with its "child", the United States during World War I, so that the Anglo/American world power came into existence, having grown into an arrogant "bigger horn".(Dan 7:20)
The United States, along with Britain, is the 7th and LAST world power of human and Bible history, as Revelation 17:9, 10 expresses, in which the United States, and Britain backing it up, as the one "permitted to give breath (or life) to the image of the wild beast", initially the League of Nations in 1920 and then its resurrection out of the "abyss" or death-like state, as the United Nations in 1945.(Rev 17:8; Rom 10:7)

Excellent, you can not read the Bible without observing this spiritual realm. My church is a very Bible teaching church but I miss this recognition of this realm.
Funny that we always refer to Daniel by his Hebrew name, but his three friends by their Babylonian names.
Below is the short version of how to behave in Babylon.
*Daniel 3:16-18*
"Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego answered and said to the king, Nebuchadnezzar, “We have no need on this matter to present a defense to you. If it is so, our God, whom we serve, is able to rescue us from the furnace of blazing fire. And from your hand, O king, let him rescue us. And if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods, and the statue of gold that you have set up we will not worship.”"
It is the names that Daniel wrote down of the men.
S0 many church "leaders" also lust after power and control and abosolutely reject any b accountability. Very sad, but then the remnant remains!

However, I would like to quickly challenge the notion that you made at the 30 minute mark of this sermon that 'I don't know what the horns mean and I don't think we can know'. I know that you said at the start you didn't want to get bogged down in eschatology for the sake of time and encouragement for the brethren, but I'd argue that in Daniel chapter 7, the angel gives Daniel the vision, AND the interpretation. Daniel 7:19-27 tells us very plainly what the horns are, and what they represent.
I would encourage everyone to read that passage, because it tells us that while the little horn triumphs over God's holy people for 3.5 years, then King Jesus will return and 'the sovereignty, power and greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven will be handed over to the holy people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him.' Daniel 7:27 NIV

@@TallyCat1 yeah but there's only seven Kings when it's finished. And the little horn comes from( one of the 7.). You have to understand Daniel 8 !. You would be the first person that I would know. that understands Daniel 8. Daniel 8 was written (before Daniel 7 )so you can interpret Daniel 7!

@JamieElison what? I'm not sure where you get that from. The narrative is that there are 10 kings, with a different king that defeats 3 of the ten kings. That's 10 minus 3, which equals 7, not 10 plus 7.
Anyway my main point was that we CAN understand what these things are with the text itself quite easily if we just read on, not like what Martin said, but anyways
It amazes me every day how clear and even more clear these truths become and yet simultaneously depresses me how many are moving into the darkness. I love my people in spite of the pain of watching them self destruct.
The meaning of the antichrist horn is very clear when compared with Revelation, history and the writings of the reformers. Seventh day Adventists understand very well. How will one know what side to choose if one remains ignorant of what is quite clear with prayer and study. God means for us to understand.

The little horn is the papacy, not Israel. Daniel specifically mentions that he sees the horn on the 4th beast, and all of the beasts in Dan. 7 represent Gentile empires. God NEVER refers to Israel in prophecy as being a beast empire.
