My top reasons why I prefer live deliveries. 1. Dispatch later. 2. Small talks. 3. No stocking shelves to fit product in cooler/freezer. 4. About an hour or two til sunrise. 5. Free drinks/food. Good topic mane!
I respect you food service guys even more after my first night on the truck. Wow! Last night was my first night with Performance 852 cases key drop accounts. Yall keep me in your prayers I need that determination, dedication, and motivation to make this job work for me. My family needs this! This old man is tired though
Ayyyyeeeee you got this bro! You just laid out why you got this. Your family needs this!! Your body will get acclimated l. The first couple months are the toughest but if you can push through it, the financial reward on the other side is worth it. You have more job stability in good service than many other trucking lanes
I do chain delivery so all our stops are key drops , that being said . It sucks working in pitch black but not having to deal with workers or cars in the lots make the job easier. + the pay is better for us overnighters ! GFS Wisconsin driver here 💸
I agree, that pitch black work is terrible but it’s a fair trade off when you don’t have to deal with people. There is a pay difference for working overnight or on a chain account with GFS out there?

You a good dude. We just had a meeting about delivery times. Our drivers have been all over the place with times, its our highest cost right now because customers charge us for late or too early deliveries. Sometimes its scheduling though too, some of my delivery times are crazy and unrealistic. I like live deliveries if the customer is cool and doesnt mind working and getting it put up. If they are just standing there and nothing is prepped for my arrival I prefer a key drop.
You make a good point. We get “dinged” if we are outside of the time window rather it’s before it starts or after it ends. I have moments where I prefer one over the other, just depends on the stop and customer.
My company, we deliver produce to schools on saturdays and I personally love it. My company doesn't care when you leave as long it gets done. We dont use scanners we have paper invoices. I guess they both have there pros and cons.
I’m sure it’s not difficult at all but man it would suck having to use paper invoices instead of scanners. It just seems so time consuming. Which company do you work for that delivers to schools on a Saturday?
@@TayTheLocalTrucker I work for Charlies Produce. We are on the west coast. Paper invoices does have its problems. Especially if you dont know the product, or mis read it. But they its faster and we delvier way less cases. but I dont know. Never used a scanner so I cant compare the 2.

All very solid and factual reasons right here! Your number 4 is HUGE!

@@TayTheLocalTrucker thanks brother made it through my 3rd night very sore. I’m not giving up.
@wslycmmngs you can’t give up now, you’re already going through the pain so dig out the pleasure from it!!

At PFG in Cali we have liftgates (with ramps). At my drop yard, we have all 28ft trailers. I prefer 48s because it’s easier to work out of.

I love key stops. Less traffic in the parking lot and in the restaurant is a plus.
That is a good pro for sure, the ability to maneuver in and out of the parking lot and restaurant without much hassle is a plus
Key drops can be tough if they got small coolers and Freezers I prefer they put up as I bring in depending on the size
I agree, it’s easier for us both if they’re putting it up as we bring it in.
Proud of u son
Thank you Ma, you finally watched your sons video 😂😂

I’m new to trucking. I like key drops but it can be dangerous not knowing who watching and plotting while you working and not paying attention

@phantomrider7184 Fair enough, that’s understandable. Thank you for the insight.
@@TayTheLocalTrucker Thank you! Keep up the good work and drive safe!
I’ve used both and I prefer a scanner over paper.
Key stops are my favorite. Less traffic, more volume and no employees in my way.
I can agree with that completely!
I love key drop, and when you have 18 stops with 989 cases, you've been doing it for 26 years.
Shirt and salute 🫡 to you my guy, 26 years is incredible and commendable
All depends on route
Very true, different factors can make it either beneficial or a hassle
I love key stops. Less traffic in the parking lot and in the restaurant.
I hate key drops cuz it seems like they order too much and I have to put product on the shelves and try to find space
🤣🤣🤣 it’s something almost every time with a key drop right!
Key stop you work with more space and no one bothers you 💯
Absolutely spot on point! That definitely makes a key drop worth it for sure 👊🏾
I prefer key drops no customer in the way of the delivery
Was stop 1 first watch?
Correct
What is the average pay per week for drivers?
Here at my division if you work 5 days, you’ll gross $1500 minimum but everyone typically grosses more than that
I prefer key drop myself
It’s understandable why a lot of drivers do
Customers try to get free stuff with key drops
😩😩 good point!!!
