I just had my taxes done for my first year as an independent contractor courier (toally different type) but you get to write off $0.67/mile. So overall, for this summary, you will write off $893 in mileage. That helps a lot! I use Everlance to track my mileage, but MileIQ is good too. I'm excited for you! You have a great future ahead of you. Best wishes!
thanks alot!!! I am currently tracking my mileage with MileIQ.

Good luck on your journey. I appreciate the video.
thanks alot for watching @Jayh_135
I agree with some of the comments about your success for the past 2 days, but it doesn't stop there with a total take of $1033.50 after driving 1333 miles. We need to dig deeper into your true operating costs, especially on your fuel cost and the wear and tear on your vehicle for such a long mileage. From your numbers, your actual gross is 99 cents per mile (gross amount % total miles).
To accurately assess your profitability, we should factor in all expenses associated with running the delivery service. This includes maintenance, insurance, vehicle depreciation, and other overhead costs. Calculating the total operating cost per mile by dividing the total expenses by the total miles driven will provide a clearer picture of your business's financial health.
While I can't gauge if 99 cents per mile is good or bad without knowing your freight market, it's crucial to keep a close eye on your operating costs. Efficient management of these expenses, such as optimizing routes, monitoring expenses closely, and ensuring timely vehicle maintenance, will be essential for long-term profitability.
So, keep track of those expenses and make sure to factor in everything from fuel to maintenance, including your deadend miles. With smart cost management strategies, you'll be on track to maintain profitability and sustain success in the delivery business.
thanks for the comment. I do plan to start adding my fuel cost in my videos because I have gotten that question alot. Also the total miles driven in the video, includes the deadhead miles. I have factored in all my expenses associated with my business, but chose not to share everything.
Sprinter vans don't make more than $1.25 per mile
@@imjusahusla I just saw a video where a guy had 2 loads. One was around $1.50 the other was $1.75. I guess it depends where you are but I think you're right. $1.25 might be average because the guy got some offers as low as .88 cents.
More than wear and tear. If your averaging 2,000 mile a week that's about 100,000 miles a year. What does that give you about 2 or 3 years before you need a completely new rig?
God taking you places, trust him..🙏🥂😎
thanks alot @brandon-305 I appreciate that and will always keep God 1st
@@EverydayImRussellin13 Excellent. 😎
Keep going bro 💪🏾 if someone hating f them
Thanks for dropping the sauce like this brother I drove a box truck for somebody and kind of felt like the rates where terrible and the box truck game is just a mess I prefer the cargo van since it’s not DOT regulated.
@JaveonBurton no problem bro!!!
Where do you book your loads from?
New sub
Thanks for subbing
u will succeed brother
thanks bro!!
Just curious which carrier company you are rolling with? Keep up the content 💪🏽
Hey man you could also try to get a partial load when is your first load is small.
I thought on your second load which is from MI to TN you gonna get also partial one.
But anyways appreciate your hard work
thanks alot. with the carrier company I sub contract for, almost all of my loads are direct loads, so I can't do partials right now.
@@EverydayImRussellin13who do you sub w?
@@rashad1myers Square One Transport
He's not hustling. He's Russellin' . . .
Yes sir!! love your content by the way
Don't ever forget to put ya mechanics money up too
Can you show paperwork we need to do this? Do you need BOL and work tickets of your own? How do you get loads? I’m just starting my own trucking company as well but still working things out. Great video and best of luck!!!!!
I applied to be a subcontractor and drive for a carrier company to kinda learn the business starting out. Once my background check was completed, they sent over the contract for me to review and sign if i agreed. The carrier company has dispatchers that find loads for me and once I get a load that's when I get the BOL.. I hope this was helpful
Cool man. Did you have to get tout in authority? Where did you find the loads?
I'm a sub contractor for Square 1 transport, they have a team of dispatchers that find me loads. I drive under their authority.
Congratulations, brother. Wish you success in your new career. Do you guys have hours of service restrictions as semi truck?
thanks alot bro!! no I don't have hours of service restrictions. yesterday day I had a long haul (13 1/2 hours) I drove 8 hrs stop and took a 2 hour nap, then finish off the last 5 and a half..
Damn u a Foreign Port etc vessels?
hey i was wonder whats programs you use to find loads is it DAT
@moonreft1 I'm a subcontractor for a carrier company.. they have dispatchers that find me loads
What were your total miles including all the dead head? you have to have an MC and a DOT # when you started and which carrier did you get this load through. Also, what kind of insurance did they require?
hi @nonyabines533 1,333 was the total miles including deadhead miles. you don't have to have a MC and DOT to drive for a carrier company.. You only need a DOT if you're driving under your own authority.. I drive for Square One Transport and im under their commercial insurance.
@@EverydayImRussellin13 Ty brother. Excellent content; subscribed.
What company do you use to get your loads?
How did you get in business. Just bought the same van in pa and looking to do the same thing as you.
I started by watching alot of other guys that are in the business.. I then went and got my LLC. registered and got my USDOT #. got all the proper permits needed and then starting looking at different carrier companies to drive for. I found the company I drive for now on Craigslist.
Hello just wanted to say great video keep it brother. But i have a question i also want to start my own van owner operator for starters what do i need to start. My other question is how many hours do work a day is it worth it?
you will need your own LLC, USDOT #/MC # ( if you chose to drive for a carrier company you won't need a MC #) as you will drive under their authority, BOC-3, UCR, and commercial insurance unless you sign on with a company that adds you to their insurance. it depends, with you being a Owner Operator you can set your own hours. for me it was worth it. I made way more in my first month than i would have at my old job working from home haha
congratulation bruh, and thanks for the motivation, what is the name of the carrier company you doing business with
Square 1 transportation is the carrier company
@@EverydayImRussellin13 thanks, they are in atlanta????

How much loads usually pay per mile? Approx
Did the load come off a Loadboard if so whars the name, if not whats the name of the company it came from
I'm a sub contractor for Square 1 transportation @quintonbogle1753
What dispatch company do you use? How do you bid around $1/mile & still win bids? I can't win any bids unless I bid around $.65/mile...
the company I drive for has a team of dispatchers that find loads for me.
Yes. I do the same, but don't get rates anywhere near $1/mile. Was just wondering how you get such good rates?
@woollymn999 yeah, I have to give the dispatchers all that credit. my rates have been great so far..
So you don't bid on loads? They just assign you a load & a rate?
@woollymn999 they call me and give me the details and rates on loads.. then I tell them yes or no on if I want them to put a bid in or not
Do you guys have your own authority or lease onto carriers ? If so who some of the carriers ?
@angelmartin4519 I currently lease onto the carrier company I subcontract for.. I'm also under their commercial insurance. the name of the company is Square 1 transport
What company you work for?
What company are you working for? I want to get back on road but need a company that will keep me moving
"Square One Transport" I have been stuck in cities/states where it took some time before I got my next load.. I've missed out on alot of loads, bc we were out bid.
Make a video on how you get your loads please make it extremely short under 2minutes pls even a short video can help pls
I'm a sub contractor for a carrier company, so they have a team of dispatchers that find loads for me.
@@EverydayImRussellin13 how do i do that im a trucker OTR and i want to quit soo bad I already have a medium roof van transti 2017 who are you contracted with and want are the requirements?
Yeah.... how much gas on both trips ? 😂😂
@slyhater71 I spent $203 in gas for both trips.. the dealership filled up my tank before I drove it off the lot.. so I started out with a free full tank of gas
What is the fuel cost for those two days ?
it was $203. the dealership filled up my tank before I drove it off the lot.
The best 👍 is for you..... 🇩🇿
thanks alot!!
How are u finding your loads?
the carrier company I drive for has a team of dispatchers that find loads for me.
@@EverydayImRussellin13 are you making good money? I'm thinking about jumping into it. I had a box truck but my truck was totalled. If I can find ways to make money in a van I'll rather that
Because I can see vessels no bs that's good and not vessels about our and your lots and the Foreign Port's etc vessels no bs 💬🤔 about it
How much did it cost to start up
it was a lil over $3500 to start up and that includes LLC, USDOT #/MC #, BOC-3, UCR, down-payment on commercial insurance, and down-payment on Van. I'm under the carrier company that i drive for insurance so I could've saved some money by not getting commercial insurance.
Where do you get loads
I drive for a carrier company(Square OneTransport), so they have a team of dispatchers that find loads for me.
@@EverydayImRussellin13 thx
Just asking not being etc or nothing vessels no bs
And the gas??
gas was $203 for those two trips
How much was your gas and where did you sleep, hotel cost? I found that is what kills my profit!
I spent $203 in gas for both trips.. the dealership filled up my tank before I drove it off the lot.. so I started out with a free full tank of gas. I also sleep in my van.
How much was gas?
gas was $203 total for both trips.. the dealership filled my tank up when I purchased my van. so I started out with a full tank. that's why the gas wasn't that expensive.
Congratulations bro!!!!!! Is your van a high roof?
@EllislogisticsLLC yeah it's a High Roof.. I'm 6'3 and can stand upright with no problem
take out your insurance, fuel.. food.. show an apporiate break down on your DAILY cost. There must be a cost per day for insurance..plus food! come on brotha this isnt properly done.
Stall him out he’s brand new. Keep going brother.
@user-fv6qi8xr7u lol.. it's cool and thanks alot bro. I appreciate it.
thanks for your comment @terryjulianlive I don't have a problem adding the how much I spent on fuel.. Almost all of the content creators I follow and mirror after doesn't include insurance cost and food cost in there recap.. plus it's a recap bro, not a breakdown of my whole operation.
Insurance is monthly. The only daily expenses would be fuel and or food(that fluctuates on consumption) from Michigan to Tennessee is no more than 120? If that I took my Audi from Illinois to Mississippi and spent 150 round trip just for comparison
It’s always a hater lurking smh! What you do? because if you was on top of your game you wouldn’t be trying to troll somebody else.
Congratz on the new business venture. I will be buying my own sprinter van at the end of the year. This was very informative. I would like to ask questions if you have an email so we can contact one another
@jcnycprofit yeah you can email me at jkrusselltruckingllc@gmail.com
Congrats black man
U dispatch for yourself?
no, the company I sub contract for has a team of dispatchers that find me loads
@@EverydayImRussellin13 Company name please?
@@keyfick Square One Transport
Lets be honest. You made $27 per hour. You drove 26 hours and spent about $330 on fuel. You netted $700 in two days but worked 13 hour days.
You cannot sustain this for a long period of time. Your body will begin to hurt. You will eventually become overweight and get diabetes.
Better to go to trade school and charge $30 bucks per hour then open your own business where you can charge $150 per hour. Home every night and you work 40 hours per week. Thats what I did.
thanks..
