My fiancé is from Laos and her family are first generation here in the states. The people are absolutely amazing kind hearted souls. We plan on visiting next year. Great video!
I'd forgotten what it was like to walk over the bamboo bridge and around Wat Xieng Thong but watching this was just like being there again. Beautiful video and the local music is perfect 🦚
Lots of wonderful memories… hope you get a chance to relax at the Utopia… there are also a couple of day-hikes in the countryside through rural villages and rubber plantations that end at one of the waterfalls. We enjoyed the hiking with the waterfalls as an ending rather than just driving to the waterfalls. Glad you are enjoying one of my favorite spots. We enjoyed dinner at Cafe Tuoi as well. Enjoy!
Thanks Ken! We do go on a few pretty incredible hikes in Laos, one in particular that probably makes our top 5 hikes ever...stay tuned for those videos :) Next week is the classic Kuang Si Waterfalls 🤗
@@SammyandTommy Yes, I'm sure the video will be enjoyable and looking forward to seeing it. Tad Sae waterfall is the other one. For our hiking tour before getting to Tad Sae, we hiked through a rubber plantation and a couple of remote villages with lunch in one of the villages. It was quite enjoyable. Looking forward to getting back to Luang Prabang in 2023.
Luang Prabang is a quiet small town. I like my solitude by the Mekong River among the thick banana trees and swaying palm. My math high school teacher from Seattle WA USA retired in Luang Prabang many years ago
Great video. Thank you very much for this glimpse of home Luang Prabang. I've lived there twice in the past 8 years of teaching and volunteering in Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos. I didn't make it on a flight from Siem Reap, Cambodia back to LPB before the Pandemic travel restrictions began. Been waiting here for the possibility of a flight out for almost two years now. I've eaten and watched movies many times at the place you had breakfast and visited all the temples in this video. I miss and hope to be there again.
That waiter looked so friendly! I would be completely lost with all those ingredients on the table, but after his explanation it all made sense..😅 The lights on the bamboo bridge look so cool at night ☺.. Loving the Laos series!
Thanks for the uploads, brings back memories from 20 yeas ago for me . It’s still got that laid-back feeling and peace on earth if there is such a thing . I remember doing A kayaking Day down the river that was a great adventure, stoping at some very spiritual caves . Also taking a boat out at sunset to see the Mekon Dolphins. Maybe that was further north . Any way enjoy yourself and make the most of your trip . Thanks 🙏
Nice video, I was born there but because of the war, my family moved to Thailand and ended up in the United States. I had vivid memories of Luang Prabang as we left when I was around 6 years old. Keep more vids coming
Loved your video. Beautifully shot. Have plans to visit luang prabang. Do the locals accept use or one has to change into local currency. Plz tell. Happy journey.
We learned they were actually panning for gold. We saw this all along the Mekong, very interesting. The lady playing the accordion was from France, she played so beautifully!

Your videos are so inspiring, and Luang Prabang looks like an amazing place to stay. Which other place in Laos do you recommend as a base if we have two weeks to spend in Laos?
Thanks so much Gerald! Luang Prabang was great but I really enjoyed staying in Nong Khiaw and Muang Ngoy! Make sure you watch our Pha Dang Peak, and Laos with a local videos to give you an idea! Thanks!
Sammy, did you guys just got in Laos March 2022…? How’s difficulty in Laos during these times.? I’m sure never feel hungry Cause foods everywhere and every place.. tell me see how was it. Plan my next trip to Thailand and Laos.
Great video :) I'm hoping to get back to Laos at the end of this year on the way to Australia, if they're allowing tourists back in by then. I've been to Vientiane and surrounds before, but this time am aiming for Luang Prabang. One question: how did you find the mosquito situation there? Everywhere seems to recommend malaria tablets for basically anywhere outside of Vientiane, so did you take them/have issues?
@@SammyandTommy I like the small town feel of Luang Prabang. The mountains and rivers in the background give you a mystic feel. The solitude by the Mekong River made me fell in love with town.

We went in January so you should be good but doesn’t hurt to be prepared just in case 👍 Have an awesome trip!

Never had any problems with mosquitoes in all my previous trips to Vientiane or Luang Prabang.
Do you remember the name of the hot pot restaurant?
I can't wait to go back to visit my once called hometown. Hopefully the Lao government will ease the Covid restrictions in October so I can go.
We hope you can return soon , thanks so much for watching!
I’m pretty sure it’s Sabaidee not sawasdee in Laos
Yup yup, you are correct sir! That's what we were aiming for but our pronunciation...welll it could be better haha 😵💫
