This is our second day on our Mekong River cruise to Luang Prabang, Laos!
We started our journey in Chiang Rai, Thailand. We then took a bus to Chiang Khong, Thailand. We stayed one night before crossing the border to Laos. The border crossing was very easy and was organized by our tour guide. We boarded our two-day slow boat cruise down the Mekong River. In this video, we will show our itinerary for the second day of the cruise and our first impressions of Luang Prabang.
We left Pak Beng at sunrise to continue down the Mekong River. Our first stop of the day was at a handicraft village. The local villagers make handicrafts to supplement their income and we were happy to go shopping and buy some pretty scarves and bracelets.
After visiting the village, our cruise continued down the river until we arrived at Pak Ou Caves. These caves are majestically set in the exact spot where the Mekong River meets the Nam Ou River. These caves are home to over 5,000 Buddha images, of all different shapes and sizes, dating back to the 16th century. We had a great time exploring the caves and stretching our legs from the boat ride.
We arrived at our destination in Luang Prbabng, where we enjoyed some delicious food at the huge night market! We can't wait to show you more of this city in our next video!
We booked our tour with Nagi of Mekong and absolutely loved it! If you are considering a cruise down the Mekong River we highly recommend Nagi of Mekong:

Sabaidee. Welcome to Lao.
From China to Vietnam, the Mekong River is the lifeblood of Southeast Asia and offers a glimpse into the long history and diverse cultures of the region. The 12th longest river in the world and the 7th longest in Asia
