  • My car started overheating. Cooling fan was not turning on and AC stopped working. I checked the cooling fan relay and that was okay. I bypassed the cooling fan module and the relay and hooked up the cooling fan directly to the battery and it turned on so the fan was good. I replaced the cooling fan module and it still didn’t work. In the owners manual it says NOTHING about cooling fan fuse. I did some research and found a cooling fan wiring diagram. I then tested the 50 amp mega fuse and it was bad. Replaced that and it worked! A couple days went by and my car turned off in middle of traffic. My car was stuck in park and I couldn’t even put it in neutral. I tested the 50 amp mega fuse next to the cooling fan fuse, and it was bad. Replaced the fuse which actually controls the BCM (body control module) which is pretty much all the essential functions of the engine. Now my car turns on no problem, but I don’t know if the circuit the BCM is connected to something else might need to be replaced. Moral of the story. Don’t buy ford they suck. Terrible cars.

The second fuse replaced was for the car to start (control module BJM).. Thanks for posting this because my fan has been out for a while. I bought a new fan and everything. So knowing your fuse went bad I'm going back in lol

I think the second failed fuse was for the Body control module, which also powers the anti-theft system. I'm my case, about a year ago that fuse failed, which caused intermittent inability to start the car and also the car would turn off if you wiggled the mega fuse block (like you mentioned). Also had a bunch of other weird symptoms like only the lights on the left side on the car working and the dash complaining about starting system fault. Sure enough replacing the fuse got it all working. I was able to order the part online.

is there any chance you have a vid of how to access the mega fuses? mine seem to be covered with a hard to remove cover but i might just have to play with it a bit for it to come off

Lol....funny when you said it turned of in the middle of an intersection not until it really happens to you. This is a huge problem that Ford really need to address on. What if this happens while on a freeway. I can imagine. Ford just sucks man. Every now and then it does something stupid worrying you. Sorry that this has to happen to Ford owners.
