How refreshing to hear someone with a sense of aesthetic proportion in the big-is-good-bigger-is-better era. My 16cm wrist severely limits my choices in modern men's watches. The Parmigiani Kalparisma (no stones) is one of the few modern tonneau watches that could actually fit me.
I see some change over the last couple of years though. People tend to be a bit more open to smaller watches today than like 3 years ago (look at vintage Cartier for example). I hope the trend will continue.
@@AleksWatches exactly, I just got a medium Cartier Santos and have exactly a 7 inch rest tonight absolutely love the way it looks and feels, I have plenty of big omega and breitlings but the Cartier is such a classy watch in that size
Fits you great, bro. There's also something about an unpolished watch: you can put it on and not worry about scratching it. I much prefer unpolished watches for this reason.
Thank you - my father just gave my his full set of exactly this AP and I agree fully on what you say on looks at the wrist ! I always wonder how many of this reference were produced in total ?
Agreed. Many people who post their RO wristshots on RUclips or Instagram are wearing ill-fitting watches. It looks like they are kids borrowing daddy's watch to play dress up.
Maybe I'm crazy but I feel like you could pull off a vintage 39mm pretty easily. In person, 33mm looks so so small to me, but maybe that is just me being used to wearing an explorer ii everyday. I have tiny tiny wrists, and would even happily wear a 42mm offshore, and that watches aesthetic is to be a big chunk on the wrist. This is changing my thinking though to consider a 33mm at some point. I really want a tantalum AP, but the 56175 is probably the only one I can realistically go for haha. Awesome video.
I totally agree that 33mm RO is good size for 6.5" and smaller wrist. I wonder how hard is it to change the battery for the quartz movement watches? Do we need to send to AP service center for new battery?
Man I keep going back to this video, I really want one, but I've heard/red that these are a pain to service/change battery and I wonder how much of that is true.
Would love one of these. I wish I was in the market when they were back at 3k euro like you mentioned! 😂 Have you ever had to deal with any service costs of the quartz movement? People say AP service costs are high in general
Me too! Haha. Not really no. I know AP can be a bit tricky and expensive when it comes to service but I’ve seen quite a few of these fresh from factory service. Don’t know the price tag though for one.
Great video! I was always wondering how the 33mm would fit, your video cleared all my doubts. Quick question, does the 33mm have a blue dial version? If yes, could you share the reference pls. Thank you!
Thanks for the informative video Aleks - I've been eyeing 56175 for a while since I have a smaller wrist. But I've seen a lot of people on the Internet advising against going AP quarts. Is there a reason for why this view is so commonly shared?
Hows the service for the quartz? I have a Rolex 19018 DD quartz but I know Rolex can still service. Plus there are specialist watch makers for the oysterquartz with plenty parts still (I checked) is it a similar story for AP ?
@@AleksWatches ya the more i look the more i see that . i actually bought a 56175sa after first seeing this video , but the chain broke then i sent it in for repairs and AP stripped the crown so need a new one now . love the 33mm size and aesthetic tho - small wrists . so besides the 56175 i should try 4100 or 14790 ?
@@AleksWatches awesome! Mine is right around 16.5 so that’s good to hear. Do you think it would be crazy to look at the 30mm size also? The lug to lug is about 40mm so proportionally I feel like it would look similar to a 34mm oyster perpetual haha
@@AleksWatches Nice! I've never tried the 56175 in hand, got the 77350ST personally because I loved the size and was available for me on retail. But thanks for this video and the reply, really interested in finding one now here in Singapore and possibly my first vintage!
@@jakelazaroff8113 Hey man, sorry didn't notice this in my notifications. I think it wears perfect for me and has a nice understated look which is what I like. I have a 6.8-7inch wrist size. The next one up 37mm fits ok as well. But the 41mm feels clunky for sure.
You hit on something that resonated with me when you said it. You referred to the newer 37mm Royal Oaks as too wide, short and thick. I just purchased a Cartier Galbee XL. I noticed that it has longer lugs while having a more narrow case than something like a medium Santos de Cartier. This longer but narrower overall dimensioning is very attractive to me. My only issue with the Galbee is that the numerals are too close together making it less legible. I was going to purchase a modern medium Santos de Cartier until you pointed this out. What to do now!?
Whats your thoughts on the 33mm Royal Oak?
Looks great
Absolutely gorgeous.
I absolutely love it! 👏🏾
its for little girls and men who have little girl size wrists... stop normalizing this bs. MAN UP! and wear a jumbo OR 41mm for crying out loud.

The size looks great on your wrist bro. Wouldn't mind one myself.
Cheers bro. Great size and still affordable compared to much other stuff.
Classy AF. Nice one. Hard to find and expensive but definitely unique look all around.. and the AP is tough to beat!
Wow even with a smaller wrist I always brushed off 33mm, thinking it would be too small but your video has definitely proven otherwise!
It wears much bigger! Try it on. ✌🏼
My first luxury watch is a Rolex Airking in 34mm. I like it so much. I love how the watch in this video suits your wrist. seems so confortabile.
i love their 33mm quartz 67650st, easy maintenance & hassle free. Same looking as their stand size model but more comfortable

how often do this model need servicing? and how much it cost to service?
Looks so good how slim it is
That watch is bang on for your wrist. I would have a big concern about what to do when the quartz module fails (which it will one day).
They swap out the whole movement afaik
@@AleksWatches oK, if that is the case then an ApRO square jumbo would be my next watch

How’s the time keeping? I heard APs break easily. But this being quartz, gives me hope it works fine. Looking forward to hearing from you 🎉
You already answered your own question 😉
Perfect size
How does this fit compared to cartier santos carrée. Really interested in buying a full gold santos. Which of these two do you prefer?
More presence from the AP I’d say. For the current market price I’d say the Santos… but its a tough choice because I really like the 33mm RO
@@AleksWatches Interesting, thanks for the reply. Will have to find one to try on
Get a RO and save for a stainless carree
Grabbed a 34/35 mm 4100BA few months ago, feels bigger than my 5 digits 36mm daydate and datejust

If battery change is needed it costs 40 bucks. If something else is broke, they change the movement, thats around 1K. Just had mine in.
@@claesnyberg117 Cool, great info!

I have this 33mm AP 2 tone model in automatic movement. How much USD does it cost now in 2022?
15k maybe not sure
33mm is indeed a great size for the RO
What do you think about the current 33mm Reference 77321 proportion wise?
Don’t like it tbh
The proportions of this watch are perfect. What exactly is the difference between the references 56175 and 56303? They look very similar.

It’s quite expensive to swap the movement if its damaged by for example battery acid. Could be the reason. Thanks for watching!

do you like the 56023st for a wrist size that works well with the 33mm 56175sa ?
Sure. But the 33mm wears thinner and more “jumbo” feel. Both nice tho

Hey Aleks! The watch looks amazing. I have smaller wrists too, so I’m considering one. What size is your wrist if you don’t mind me asking?

Yes, imo the 30mm is too small for us. My girlfriend had one back in the days and she has like 14cm wrist
Elegant size
How do you think it compares to the 34mm Automatic that was released in 2020?
Nope not even close. Totally different proportions and feeling on the wrist. The 56175 is like a Jumbo on the wrist only in a smaller package
