That’ll be an interesting cycle, Itoi got inspired from Dragon Quest and made his own game with his own spin on it, Mother/Earthbound. Toby Fox got inspired by Earthbound and created Undertale. Maybe someday someone will create a just as amazing game and his inspiration will be Undertale.
Even though I read a lot of spoilers, i'm about to finish my first run (pacifist, had to) and feel like I just... can't, I don't want it to finish. This game means a lot to me me for many reasons, words can't describe what it is like, but I guess y'all know what I'm talkin' about. *filled with determination more than ever*
so i did my first run since 2015, i biffed it ofc and may have killed a few and got a neutral ending, however i did do a pacifist run on the side and it made me cry. definately stream-worthy to re-run my pacifist run for a single stream.
I got married with this song being played on the piano as my beautiful wife walked down the aisle. Finishing this game was the first time we ever cried together and its responsible for some of the happiest memories of my life. Thank you so much, Toby Fox. You made me the happiest man on Earth.
"Still just you, Frisk." Frisk: To search a person for something concealed. The name for Frisk is odd, but it really makes sense. If you played the pacifist run, that is exactly what you did. You were revealing monsters' hopes, fears, regrets, loneliness, every little bit about them. By doing this, you discovered the truth, you looked deep beneath their exteriors and the lore of the world to discover beautiful and unique souls. Despite the unknown that awaited you, despite the dangers, despite the fact that you could die in this "kill or be killed" world... you continued with a smile and a tender heart to these monsters who only ever wanted their freedom. You opened your heart, revealed what you concealed, and they done the same. The monsters became your allies, your friends, your family. You learned about them, and they came to know and love you. "Despite everything, it's still you."
+Zane McCormick Another interesting little tidbit about name choices : Chara, in Irish, literally means "friend". Even the name is contradictory, seeing as the First Human trying to possess you throughout the entire game, tricking you into thinking they're an ally, the only ally needed. The only "friend" you could possibly want. When really all they're after is power. To use *your* power, *your* determination, to destroy everything.
***** The reason Chara doesn't do anything bad to Frisk? Because they died. It's what's left of them that is trying to take your soul's power, their determination for evil. But that's all. It's not a matter of "letting" you reset, they simply have no other way of manifesting other than pure unadulterated evil. Just like a demon can't be summoned unless all of the "right" criteria are met, the right "ritual", if you will. That isn't a kid, that is a demon. Chara did a lot worse than that. This is where the assumptions start, but based on the info given, my guess is that Chara wanted to merge with Asriel, or the other way around, to become a being powerful enough to destroy humans, hence their suicide. Only Asriel's will won when their SOULs merged, and refused to attack the humans that attacked him. Chara is the reason Asriel died. Chara knew the sight of his body in a monster's hands would cause them to attack, and they wanted to kill them all. Because they hated humanity, as stated by Asriel. Chara wanted all out war, but they only had one friend, and they used him to try and destroy. Similar to what they attempt to do with Frisk.
When the barrier is broken you have helped freed..... two brothers that can now live normal lives as family,no longer nihilist or native... A mother and father that never came to terms with the death of their children,can now learn and live with their past and mistakes.... A guilt stricken scientist that only wanted to help her people,can now move pass her mistakes.... A soilder that was put into a war,no longer has to fight the enemy..... A star that had the same audience,can now make an even bigger one..... A ghost that never had happy memories,can make new one's.... And two children soul's who were never laid to rest.....can finally be in peace...... 💛💙💜💚❤

“Despite everything, it’s still you.” This quote always strikes me when I see it. It reminds me of all the hardships I’ve been through, and all the experiences that I’ve had. It’s a reminder that I will change, but no matter what, it’ll still be me nonetheless. It’s just life, but it’s a reminder that everything’s gonna be ok, and I will get through life. So whenever I look in the mirror, I will remind myself that like Frisk does in the game.

Eventually, hearing the flower's sobs, ASGORE, the king of all monsters, came running. He did his best to comfort the flower, promising it that everything would be alright. He was overcome with emotion. But... still... even as the king held him, the flower felt nothing at all. The flower realized that it was SOULLESS. Without a soul, the flower could not feel love or compassion. Still, it tried. It spent weeks in the company of the king, vainly trying to feel. When that failed, the flower ran away to the RUINS. There, the flower found the QUEEN, a being of infinite kindness and love. Surely, thought the flower, in her company I will feel whole. ... But the flower was wrong. The flower fell into despair. In a world without love, it no longer desired to live. So, it attempted to leave this world. But at the last moment, the flower grew afraid. Without a SOUL, the flower did not know what awaited it on the other side. Something primal cried out inside of it. The flower did not want to die. And then... And then... The flower woke up in the garden again. The flower realized at any time, whenever it wanted, it could reverse the flow of time back to the moment when it first woke up. The flower decided to use its new powers for good. It went from person to person in the UNDERGROUND. Solving all of their problems. Becoming their friend. The flower became beloved by all. But still... it felt nothing. Then, the flower grew bored. It began to wonder. What would happen if it killed these people? And so... out of boredom... out of curiosity... the flower killed them all. Time repeated again and again. Everyone has died. Everyone has been saved. Many, many, many times. The flower has saved everyone and killed everyone. Read every book and burned every book. And now there is simply nothing left for it to do. The flower was filled with rage. Now, it only desired one thing. To destroy completely the world that had failed it. But then... after many timelines had passed, something new happened. For the first time in many years, a human fell into the Underground. And the flower realized... That human would be its salvation. It kind of makes sense for it to be the name of the song, though. Think about it, this song plays as you're about to reach the climax of the game, the fight against the king of the monsters. Not to mention it plays as you're getting the games backstory. Why wouldn't you call it Undertale?
It was 2015 when I first played Undertale. I was 11 years old. Through my teenage years, this song has somewhat stuck to me like a theme song. I always felt like the whole world was against me and all I had was the game. When I first played Undertale, I suffered severe depression. Over the years, the diagnosis worsened. Now its Depression, Anxiety, Autism, and Schizophrenia. I'm 17 and despite having nobody in my life to stand by me or help me up, I've decided not to end my life because there are people out there who need a hand up. When I am no longer needed, Ill pass away silently. Even if Im constantly in pain and cant afford to treat my disorders, I know I could shield a few people from the cruelty I was shown all my life. And any time I felt like tying the noose, I listened to this song. I remembered how far id come. 17 years old. No friends. Never had a crush on anyone. Alone with my demons, but I promise, I swear to god, I wont let anyone get hurt the way I was. Ill stand strong and return to this song when I need it. Its all I have.

When I did a (true) pacifist run I got "It's you!" and then "Despite everything, it's still you." and I just had to lay down for a moment. Still a small detail in the game but it's one that really got to me.

i dont expect anyone to see this comment because it'll be buried, but im listening to this after all these years. it makes me remember the undertale community, the utau amino especially. all the conversations, roleplays, friends, art, mods, inspiration.. it all passed too fast. i really wish i could go back in time just to tell everyone in that community that i love them deeply, and that i'm proud of them. the amino helped me alot, not just in my confidence, but my art skills, personality, and being open minded. i still laugh about the times where i kept changing my username and nobody would remember me lol to anyone who has been from undertale aus amino, you guys remember our mods? shadsy, chicky, noicy and etc? remember the events? remember your friends? it was fun indeed. i hope you guys are having a good time right now. even after all this, you're still you.
So many genius moments in this part of the game (SPOILERS FOLLOW): 'Aren't you happy? You're about to be free.' This doesn't refer to Frisk dying. It refers to them breaking free of the influence of the Fallen Child, who has been attempting to possess them throughout the game. Through the player's actions, either violence or pacifism, they can allow the influence of the Fallen to grow stronger, or wash it away. This is why, in a normal/pacifist mode, the two mirrors in the game say 'It's you!' and 'Despite everything, it's still you.' Whereas in the genocide run, they say 'It's ME, Chara.' both times. In a pacifist run, despite everything that has happened to Frisk, all the hardships they've been through, they remained true to themselves and did not hurt people.

magnusm4 No, you're wrong. The 'goat boy' (Asriel) was the one who did not want to hurt the humans who were attacking him. The Fallen Child is the one who wanted to kill all of them. Asriel tells you that at the end.
This is the best song of the soundtrack, because of a few things, 1. The raw emotion being given off, because it starts out sounding like there is hope, but then it gets slower, and it gets to the realization that the original human, died, then Asriel wanted to grant the human their wish, but the humans attacked him, 2. The part when the realization of why Asriel isn’t there in the current timeline is because the humans wound up beating him to death, and when he got home, he collapsed, and died, the despair and death of the story is just made even sadder with the music, 3. The hope in the end of the song makes you realize, your journey will end soon, and you have to finish it, cross through the barrier, and go home, the hope of the monsters conveys that realization even more, and you have to kill Asgore to get through the barrier, And that’s why I love this singular song.

This proves, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that you don't need a big, rich company. You just need passion, love, and a journey that is not about the destination, but about the choices leading to it. I'm more concerned about the fact there are 2 Snowdrake's, 3 Dummies and 3 Shyren there, because that shouldn't be the case. -If Snowdrake dies, Chilldrake will take its place every other battle, meaning there is only one. Same can be seen during your ''Victory Walk'' through Snowdin Forest, where you see the whole family (with Chilldrake just being a friend of Snowy). -Regular Dummy is only in the ruins, and the only other one is Mad Dummy, who clearly isn't one of these. -Shyren, like Snowdrake, has more informating, being that they have a family. This is proven by the Amalgamates: Lemon Bread is Shyren's sister and Snowdrake's Mom is...well, Snowdrake's Mom.
I remember, when I first heard of Undertale, I was completely uninterested. I was kind of turned off by how many people were talking about it and either praising it or hating on it, and as a result it just felt overhyped to me (though I always thought the soundtrack was great!) Then one day, my brother got a copy of it on the Switch, and I watched a bit of it and thought that it actually looked pretty fun, but I still never really could bring myself to playing it. Come a year later, my friends were talking more about it and told me that I really needed to play it. So one day, I finally made up my mind and decided to pop the game in my switch and start playing it... My god, I’m glad that I did that. What I ended up playing was one of the best games ever created, and it really helped me to get through a really rough patch in my life. This song in particular always seems to bring tears to my eyes because I’ve just come to associate it with the magic I felt when I first played the game, as well as some other truly great moments I experienced both in and outside of the game that brought me some happiness and comfort during that period of my life. I feel that some people forget that a game’s fandom does not make a game, and even then the entirety of a fandom is not always completely toxic. I forgot that with this game, and if I wouldn’t have finally taken the time to try it out for myself, I would’ve missed out on a great experience that I likely would not have experienced otherwise. Sorry for my essay of a comment, but I just wanted to share my story with this game. I love Undertale, and I hope more people will be able to appreciate it for years to come!

This song is truly indicative as to what kind of game Undertale is It's probably the most emotional and hopeful songs in the game, but you aren't the one hopeful... This is actually one of the most gloomy parts of the game for you... But not for the monsters, after all they're about to be free, it makes you stop and think about how you've affected all the others. for just a split second, you forget all your worries and you too, feel hopeful for them, This song itself, having the huge leitmotif of his theme, makes you feel like this is a song that monsters him to their children every night, as if asriels spirit lives on through them (forgetting flowey) To them, even if you weren't a bad guy, the "bad guy" is about to be defeated, they can finally leave. What I'm trying to say is, it's beautiful that undertale's most impactful song is a song about rooting for the enemy, even if it means your own death
This game was truly a beautiful masterpiece... I can’t describe it without writing a 1000 word description of how amazing this video game was. I’ll just say this... Listening to this song, you think of all the choices you made, the monsters you spared, and those you killed. And you think, who is the villain here? The monsters had everything taken from them, they just want it back, Asgore and Toriel lost everything they had... both of their children, in just one night... just one. I don’t know the lore in depth for every part and character of the game, and also, I didn’t play the game much when it was very popular 4 years ago, I wish I was, i really do, I would have had so much fun, but instead I played it around a year ago and got all the endings, now, the community is much more small, some say it is dying out, but I really want to keep it alive as much as I can, just to experience what I really wanted to, but couldn’t, I never have thought more and had a better time with a video game before, listening to this song, especially at the flute part... It makes me tear up. It really does. This game is such a beautiful masterpiece, and it always will be... No matter what... Undertale is now 5 years old. I can't believe I've spent half a decade watching this community thrive and grow. From the amazing to the funny, Undertale changed me for the better. Everyone here is telling their incredible stories with undertale, but just putting it simply, this game will go down in history as a game that changed the lives of so many people. It might even be remembered in the future as one of the best games, not only of this generation, but ever made. Thank you Toby Fox, thank you so much.

For what seems like such a simple game with graphics that seem like nothing special, Undertale remains as one of the greatest games ever made for one big reason-it changed lives. It has always been motivational to me. When I was feeling down or lonely, there would be a new character moment that would make me smile widely. People kept saying "play undertale" "watch undertale" and then I looked it up and the first let's play was jacksepticeye's play through and I became addicted then I got the game and played all three runs it was sad for the genocide because I loved all of the characters. Now I know like 1000000 fan games. And this changed my depression in my life. The whole point is undertale is a wonderful game.

It's still you. No matter how long its been, whenever i listen to this song, I feel like a kid. I want to express my true emotions without caring what other people think. Be yourself. Don't be afraid. We all have a little bit of the souls in us, so don't be afraid to let them loose.
I'm super late, but I want to say it. I have NEVER been close to this sad when faced with the prospect of leaving a fictional world. Not even remotely. This song is incredible, in that it perfectly captures the sadness you feel, knowing that your journey is almost over. But through that, you feel a sense of happiness, reminiscing about all the friends you met along the way. Then you continue hearing the song, and you realise that you aren't going to see them anymore. This song is perfection. Screw Spear of Justice, screw Megalovania, even screw Hopes and Dreams/Save the World. This is the best song in Undertale. This song IS Undertale.

They made friends. They were the savior of the underground. But it wasn't them doing it, was it? No. It was you. You made the choices. You made the decision to save everyone. But they are you. That's your mind in them. Those are your actions. So you should be smiling, too. Not just them. But you too.

That’ll be an interesting cycle, Itoi got inspired from Dragon Quest and made his own game with his own spin on it, Mother/Earthbound. Toby Fox got inspired by Earthbound and created Undertale. Maybe someday someone will create a just as amazing game and his inspiration will be Undertale.

The name for Frisk is odd, but it really makes sense.
If you played the pacifist run, that is exactly what you did. You were revealing monsters' hopes, fears, regrets, loneliness, every little bit about them. By doing this, you discovered the truth, you looked deep beneath their exteriors and the lore of the world to discover beautiful and unique souls.
Despite the unknown that awaited you, despite the dangers, despite the fact that you could die in this "kill or be killed" world... you continued with a smile and a tender heart to these monsters who only ever wanted their freedom. You opened your heart, revealed what you concealed, and they done the same. The monsters became your allies, your friends, your family. You learned about them, and they came to know and love you.

+Zane McCormick Another interesting little tidbit about name choices : Chara, in Irish, literally means "friend". Even the name is contradictory, seeing as the First Human trying to possess you throughout the entire game, tricking you into thinking they're an ally, the only ally needed. The only "friend" you could possibly want. When really all they're after is power. To use *your* power, *your* determination, to destroy everything.
***** The reason Chara doesn't do anything bad to Frisk? Because they died. It's what's left of them that is trying to take your soul's power, their determination for evil. But that's all.
It's not a matter of "letting" you reset, they simply have no other way of manifesting other than pure unadulterated evil. Just like a demon can't be summoned unless all of the "right" criteria are met, the right "ritual", if you will. That isn't a kid, that is a demon.
Chara did a lot worse than that. This is where the assumptions start, but based on the info given, my guess is that Chara wanted to merge with Asriel, or the other way around, to become a being powerful enough to destroy humans, hence their suicide. Only Asriel's will won when their SOULs merged, and refused to attack the humans that attacked him. Chara is the reason Asriel died. Chara knew the sight of his body in a monster's hands would cause them to attack, and they wanted to kill them all. Because they hated humanity, as stated by Asriel. Chara wanted all out war, but they only had one friend, and they used him to try and destroy. Similar to what they attempt to do with Frisk.

“Despite everything, it’s still you.” This quote always strikes me when I see it. It reminds me of all the hardships I’ve been through, and all the experiences that I’ve had. It was 2015 when I first played Undertale.
I was 11 years old.
Through my teenage years, this song has somewhat stuck to me like a theme song. I always felt like the whole world was against me and all I had was the game.
When I first played Undertale, I suffered severe depression. Over the years, the diagnosis worsened.
Now its Depression, Anxiety, Autism, and Schizophrenia.
I'm 17 and despite having nobody in my life to stand by me or help me up, I've decided not to end my life because there are people out there who need a hand up.
When I am no longer needed, Ill pass away silently.
Even if Im constantly in pain and cant afford to treat my disorders, I know I could shield a few people from the cruelty I was shown all my life.
And any time I felt like tying the noose, I listened to this song. I remembered how far id come.

So many genius moments in this part of the game (SPOILERS FOLLOW):
'Aren't you happy? You're about to be free.' This doesn't refer to Frisk dying. It refers to them breaking free of the influence of the Fallen Child, who has been attempting to possess them throughout the game. Through the player's actions, either violence or pacifism, they can allow the influence of the Fallen to grow stronger, or wash it away.
This is why, in a normal/pacifist mode, the two mirrors in the game say 'It's you!' and 'Despite everything, it's still you.' Whereas in the genocide run, they say 'It's ME, Chara.' both times. In a pacifist run, despite everything that has happened to Frisk, all the hardships they've been through, they remained true to themselves and did not hurt people.

Oh, wow. I thought it meant dying. I was sad but kinda ok with that, if it meant changing Asgore's mind and having him use my soul to go up and live aboveground again, but wow. I remember looking in the mirror and being glad I hadn't been violent.
+theguycalledchris That's weird cause in the lore it said the goat boy carried his friend home and got attacked and wanted to hurt them but the boys soul made him resist. What your saying is he want to harm contradicting what he previously stood for.
magnusm4 No, you're wrong. The 'goat boy' (Asriel) was the one who did not want to hurt the humans who were attacking him. The Fallen Child is the one who wanted to kill all of them. Asriel tells you that at the end.

This is the best song of the soundtrack, because of a few things,
1. The raw emotion being given off, because it starts out sounding like there is hope, but then it gets slower, and it gets to the realization that the original human, died, then Asriel wanted to grant the human their wish, but the humans attacked him,
2. The part when the realization of why Asriel isn’t there in the current timeline is because the humans wound up beating him to death, and when he got home, he collapsed, and died, the despair and death of the story is just made even sadder with the music,
3. The hope in the end of the song makes you realize, your journey will end soon, and you have to finish it, cross through the barrier, and go home, the hope of the monsters conveys that realization even more, and you have to kill Asgore to get through the barrier,
And that’s why I love this singular song.
This song and Hopes and Dreams still make me cry even after 7 years
I just cant forget the tragic story that goes at the beats of the sound and how the drop has the twist.
This became more than just a video game.
It became a symbolic journey for life itself.
Every decision and consequence felt REAL.
Even though they're not. This proves, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that you don't need a big, rich company.
You just need passion, love, and a journey that is not about the destination, but about the choices leading to it.
And of course... *D E T E R M I N A T I O N*.
+Luxai People seem to forget that the big companies used to be little companies or groups of people. The problem is somewhere along the line they lost their way (except for maybe Nintendo). Probably somewhere around the time they started making people that know nothing about games into the CEOs and financial managers of their companies.

Luxai Well I do hope they try to keep their future consoles at least on par with the other consoles from now on. And of course I hate their abusive copyright policies and the youtube program. Unfortunately enough youtubers signed up for it that it likely won't die. I just meant they generally don't screw over their customers like the other companies by releasing broken games early for the holidays or flooding their games with overpriced DLC.

I'm more concerned about the fact there are 2 Snowdrake's, 3 Dummies and 3 Shyren there, because that shouldn't be the case.
-If Snowdrake dies, Chilldrake will take its place every other battle, meaning there is only one. Same can be seen during your ''Victory Walk'' through Snowdin Forest, where you see the whole family (with Chilldrake just being a friend of Snowy).
-Regular Dummy is only in the ruins, and the only other one is Mad Dummy, who clearly isn't one of these.
-Shyren, like Snowdrake, has more informating, being that they have a family. This is proven by the Amalgamates: Lemon Bread is Shyren's sister and Snowdrake's Mom is...well, Snowdrake's Mom.

When I was rejected, I listened to this and felt hope again...
Reading this comment 8 months later after you posted this and how the comment tells you to stay determined fills you with *determination*
I remember, when I first heard of Undertale, I was completely uninterested. I was kind of turned off by how many people were talking about it and either praising it or hating on it, and as a result it just felt overhyped to me (though I always thought the soundtrack was great!) Then one day, my brother got a copy of it on the Switch, and I watched a bit of it and thought that it actually looked pretty fun, but I still never really could bring myself to playing it. Come a year later, my friends were talking more about it and told me that I really needed to play it. So one day, I finally made up my mind and decided to pop the game in my switch and start playing it...
My god, I’m glad that I did that. What I ended up playing was one of the best games ever created, and it really helped me to get through a really rough patch in my life. This song in particular always seems to bring tears to my eyes because I’ve just come to associate it with the magic I felt when I first played the game, as well as some other truly great moments I experienced both in and outside of the game that brought me some happiness and comfort during that period of my life.
I feel that some people forget that a game’s fandom does not make a game, and even then the entirety of a fandom is not always completely toxic. I forgot that with this game, and if I wouldn’t have finally taken the time to try it out for myself, I would’ve missed out on a great experience that I likely would not have experienced otherwise. Sorry for my essay of a comment, but I just wanted to share my story with this game. I love Undertale, and I hope more people will be able to appreciate it for years to come!

This song is truly indicative as to what kind of game Undertale is
It's probably the most emotional and hopeful songs in the game, but you aren't the one hopeful...
This is actually one of the most gloomy parts of the game for you... But not for the monsters, after all they're about to be free, it makes you stop and think about how you've affected all the others. for just a split second, you forget all your worries and you too, feel hopeful for them,
This song itself, having the huge leitmotif of his theme, makes you feel like this is a song that monsters him to their children every night, as if asriels spirit lives on through them (forgetting flowey)
To them, even if you weren't a bad guy, the "bad guy" is about to be defeated, they can finally leave.
What I'm trying to say is, it's beautiful that undertale's most impactful song is a song about rooting for the enemy, even if it means your own death

I can’t describe it without writing a 1000 word description of how amazing this video game was.
I’ll just say this...
Listening to this song, you think of all the choices you made, the monsters you spared, and those you killed. And you think, who is the villain here? The monsters had everything taken from them, they just want it back, Asgore and Toriel lost everything they had... both of their children, in just one night... just one. I don’t know the lore in depth for every part and character of the game, and also, I didn’t play the game much when it was very popular 4 years ago, I wish I was, i really do, I would have had so much fun, but instead I played it around a year ago and got all the endings, now, the community is much more small, some say it is dying out, but I really want to keep it alive as much as I can, just to experience what I really wanted to, but couldn’t, I never have thought more and had a better time with a video game before, listening to this song, especially at the flute part...

It's 12:47 PM. You're 12 years, 3 months, 1 day, 2 hours and 37 minutes old. You remember last year. When all of your friends could get along. When you spent hours in a call with them. When there was no drama, and you joked about living with them. No, you dreamed about living with them. You promised them that one day, you would finally meet. Two years ago. When you and him first met. Two kids, sitting at a computer, laughing, cracking jokes, introducing each other to other friends. Getting in fake arguments, just to be fun. When you COULD actually go out and see the world, and wonder when you could finally see all of it.
Then one day..
You found a game. You had seen it before, but.. This time, you really, really needed it. It was called UNDERTALE. You run to your Ps4 where you had it installed from a previous playthrough. You spend hours on it and eventually fight and SAVE Asriel. Your friends cry with you, all of them standing behind you. You spend more and more hours talking about UNDERTALE, UNDERTALE, UNDERTALE! In countless calls, countless messages, countless images.
But.. it gets stale.
Your friends start slowly fading away from the game, and soon you're the only one left. But you fade too. You play other games, promising yourself that you will never forget this game. Never, ever. And you don't. You never forget it, and you never will. This game will always be with you. You know that, and it's burned, deep into your SOUL.
As time passes, the times change with you. More people die. More people become sick, and your one and only true friend that's left was the person you once hated. You dream and hope for the next years, you NEED to see him. You need to. You think about all of the times that you laughed with him, cried with him, hell, even yelled with him.

The likeliness of you meeting him has skyrocketed, your parents have met, they're planning to come to your state soon, it's all piecing together. Last year was one of the worst years of your life. Toxic friends surrounding you, abandoning the people you love for them, but nearing the end, you met the best people you ever have been around, and you separated yourself from the bad ones.
UNDERTALE is now almost 7 years old. *Seven.* You were there for it's fifth anniversary, and it's sixth. Nobody was there with you. Nobody cares about that game anymore! Not because of the game, or the characters that are memorable and great, and not even for the nostalgia of playing it, but for the memories you associate with it. It's 1:34 PM. You're 14 years, 4 months, 7 days, and 15 minutes old.
This comment has become your own personal diary, so to speak. After you wrote the last update, June of that year, you met some of the best friends you could have asked for-- online that is. You met them in a stupid little Roblox roleplay game about Omori, a new game you've started hyperfixating on. You spent all summer, all fall, all winter talking to them and just having fun. You put your old, toxic friends behind you and focus on a new future. Leo's still your best friend at that point, and then...
It's 2023. The months fly by, you and Leo become more and more distant until March, when he tells you that he's breaking up with you; but you're still friends. You think you'll always be friends, and most likely-- yeah. You're just not talking very much, which is fine. But your friends, the friends you met last year took that place of being your best friends. Now it's almost been a year since you met them all, and Undertale is almost eight.
Your Undertale phase is starting to slowly creep back, as you're around people who actually care about what you like and will support you no matter what. Also, because you're about to start someone else's journey through this game.
It's one of your best friends birthdays tomorrow. You've saved up the money, and you're getting them Undertale on steam. (If you ever see this Rowan, hi!!!) You're so excited every day you can't even think.

That moment when you realize that this song has been in the game since the intro cinematic and is also a part of Hopes and Dreams. It's literally the first thing you hear in the game and the last thing you hear in the game.
The different parts of this song are repeated along almost all of the soundtrack but with different instruments and tempos. I love Toby Fox.

I'm super late, but I want to say it. I have NEVER been close to this sad when faced with the prospect of leaving a fictional world. Not even remotely. This song is incredible, in that it perfectly captures the sadness you feel, knowing that your journey is almost over. But through that, you feel a sense of happiness, reminiscing about all the friends you met along the way. Then you continue hearing the song, and you realise that you aren't going to see them anymore. This song is perfection. Screw Spear of Justice, screw Megalovania, even screw Hopes and Dreams/Save the World. This is the best song in Undertale. This song IS Undertale.

but on another note, nice to see a lot of kind people in the comments. i don’t hate fanmade content, in fact, i think some of it’s really really cool and creative. however, the actual game left an impact on my life and that’s one of the reasons i love it so much. the characters are memorable, the music is awesome, and it was difficult (in the fun way of course).
i’ve gotten more into deltarune as of late and so far, i thought the first two chapters were awesome, so i’m really excited for what’s next. maybe you can share your thoughts in the comments too :D also apologies in advance for being a cringe 13 year old lmao

Asriel, the king’s son, heard the human’s call. He brought the human back to the castle.
Over time, Asriel and the human became like siblings. The King and Queen treated the human child as their own. The underground was full of hope.
Then… One day… The human became very ill.
The sick human had only one request. To see the flowers from their village. But there was nothing we could do.
The next day.
The next day.
…
The human died.
Asriel, wracked with grief, absorbed the human’s soul. He transformed into a being with incredible power.
With the human soul, Asriel crossed through the barrier. He carried the human’s body into the sunset. Back to the village of the humans.
Asriel reached the center of the village. There, he found a bed of golden flowers. He carried the human onto it.
Suddenly, screams rang out. The villagers saw Asriel holding the human’s body. They thought that he had killed the child.

The king decided it was time to end our suffering. Every human who falls down here must die. With enough souls, we can shatter the barrier forever.

Whether you build muscles or gain weight, become toxic or become compassionate, every time you look in the mirror, you're still looking at the same person you saw before it. When you become elderly, you are looking at the same 5 year old you saw all those years ago. And the sentence is not just "It's still you," it's " *Despite everything* , it's still you."
