@Eli Shiloh i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and im in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Things I really love about this video: you kept that belt in your hair and it’s true to the real life experience of throwing out clothes. I end up wearing random pieces I forgot about
The 'I got this as a hand-me-down from my sister, it no longer fits me, still fits her and she wants it back' is honestly a whole mood. Like me everytime I declutter. Sometimes I'm hannah, sometimes I'm her sister. 😂
I actually have more and more the feeling that these clearing out videos foster consumption because there is "now space for new items". This shall not be a harsh critique but it just came to my mind watching this. And I like watching these videos and a lot of people on youtube do them but lately I doubt that this is the most sustainable way of dealing with our clothes. Just a thought in the middle of the night cause I had a nightmare and can´t sleep no more but have to go to work in 3 hours - I should sleep now haha but had to leave this comment here. Love your videos Hannah :)
I read your comment before watching and thought to myself that It could be but didn't think it would be the case for this video but I did get that feeling a little bit with the whole desire to replace clothes... I don't know if you watch best dressed but she adressed that issue in her own wardrobe cleanup.
Yes. This. The most sustainable act is to USE UP WHAT YOU HAVE. Influencers love to pretend like you need to invest in fancy ethical brands but that is far from the solution. The best sustainable option is to not use so many friggin resources all the tims
Yes, especially giving away things that still fit comfortably but are "just a bit stale" encourages the culture that your clothes should "feel new". Charity shops can't re-sell everything they're given so donating things doesn't guarantee they'll be worn by someone else, they may still end up in landfill. If you're still wearing something it's better to keep it yourself.
@@morehannah I think that screams depop/giveaway! Though I can appreciate how a giveaway of some items may be crazy having seen some of the creepy comments on your fb from men who really should know better...
The “Good On You” app rates lots of high street brands according to how ethical they are and also has blogs/lists of good ethical brands! :) loved the video and the new channel!!! ❤️
my issue with sustainable clothing brands is they are RIDICULOUSLY expensive for me as a student, not to mention most of them aren't particularly size inclusive so i try to focus on sustainability in other parts of my life (makeup and cosmetics, cleaning products, shoes) but i've heard good things about patagonia and armedangels :)
I used to think that about price, but what I've learned is that it's much better to spend £40 on something I love and will wear for at least 5 years, than £7 on something that will last mabye 3 years max. For example, a few years ago, I spent I think 20 pounds on a brown fake leather jacket from h&m. It looked good for about a year, but then the plastic wore off the wrists it was never very breathable, I couldn't t really fit a jumper on underneath. On depop (second hand clothes app, would deffo reccomened) I saw an all saints practically brand new leather jacket that would have been over £150 if I had bought new, for £80. I bought it and it's such good quality, and such a staple item I know I will use for a long long time. So much more worth it! Same with shoes, I have a really bad habit of buying shoes for less than £15, but they break and are worn down and unusable after only a couple of months. Now I'm considering investing in some doc martens instead, because they will last me more like a decade, so I'll be spending much less money in the long run. Depop is great for cheap second hand clothes, and I would highly recommend watching Justine leconte on RUclips, she has lots of videos that helped me see the benefit in buying less, but better. :)
Erica Greene check your privilege there. Some people can’t outright afford to spend £40 or £80 per item no matter how beneficial it is, or how long it lasts. They can’t afford that money upfront no matter which way you twist it so they have to do what they can with what they have, and as already been pointed out, be sustainable in other ways.
Buying second hand is most times even cheaper than buying from H&M Zara etc AND is even better than buying from fairtrade clothing brands! So even on low budget you can do great things
And here are loads of online marketplaces, where you can find trendy pieces, (asos marketplace, fb marketplace, ... heres a list if you want to find more: www.dariadaria.com/fair-fashion (you have to scroll down to find the second hand links :) )
Looove this. Also reminds me I need to go through my wardrobe. I did the "turn the hangers the wrong way round" thing last November so the task is looming. I'd also highly recommend learning how to do basic fixes on your clothing, especially sewing up holes. I've had so many knickers, socks, and tops that where otherwise perfectly fine apart from 1 small hole. I sewed them up instead of throwing and still have many of them years later. Hand sewing holes is actually quite easy to do as well :)
What a delight. Just want to say that there have been many times when I've felt desperately bad because of health issues & you've been my go-to when I needed a lift. Many times you've pulled me out off utter despair. Your wit, charm, joyful honesty are truly empowering. Thanks, Hannah, you've touched me deeply & helped keep me from dark despair much love.
A year ago I watched the documentary 'The true cost' about the fast fashion industry. And it shook me to my core, that fast fashion is not something I want to support at all. So there my journey on sustainability began. I only buy second hand, but the amazing thing this era is: apps. Depop, Vinted... All that jazz! It's amazing and you find modern clothes but also vintage pearls! Highly recommend!
One part of sustainability is to wear things till they are not wearable anymore though... Charity shops are full of stuff no one wants. So, especially when buying new things, be aware. There is no "away" with waste. If there's stuff to get rid of EVERY year, I think you have a problem with getting too much stuff. I love you Hannah though!! And this channel 💛💙💜
Ah a sunflower - like way back when you lived in France and were Hannah Girasol. Can't believe I've been watching so long haha! Love the idea of this new channel :)
Disclaimer : I love Hannah, her ethics, her attitude, her personality, her everything. But I'm just here at 29 still wearing clothes I wore at 12. The joys at not having grown much or changed my style! When someone says they have 3 years of wear from an item like it's almost unusual, I feel like I'm doing something very wrong!
i think it's the opposite and you're actually doing something very good! for one a lot of people change size a lot - i've grown so much that clothes from three years ago are a good one to two sizes too small. the younger you are, the more your body has gone through changes recently. two, a lot of people buy from brands that wear out quick, which is why she mentions fast fashion. definitely better to buy from brands that don't wear out quick if you can! and three, someone's sense of self is often tied to what they wear. as who they are changes, what they feel comfortable in changes. that might not be the case for you, which is totally fine and just as normal!
I went through an emo phase from 12 to 16 so all the clothes at that time are essentially unwearable to me now. 😂 A lot of people like to experiment when they're younger and those clothes cant necessarily stay with us when we're no longer the same person.
Shows item, folds item, throws item. Lol but I'm also the kind of person who'll semi-fold the clothes I've just taken off before I get to my laundry basket to throw them in. Love an organization video! So happy for this new channel! I've been meaning to go through my whole wardrobe and get rid of stuff, just haven't gotten around to it because I've been so busy. I feel like I should do that with jewelry too... Also my books... This summer I decluttered all my stuff-drawers and the non-clothing areas of my closets. As soon as I have a solid break (or a 2-day weekend) I'm def gonna be getting some organizing done.
Uk ethical hand made clothing from a website called 'Adorned' i have ordered from them before and they make good quality clothes for decent prices as they're eco. Would recommend that you also look at their instagram.
My main advice for looking at sustainable clothing brands is to really do research! There is so much greenwashing! Making clothes out of recycled water bottles may seem like a good idea but those items get washed and then micro plastics go into our water systems, that’s why buying natural fibres over polyester is so important! Loved the video 💕
Your first wardrobe video was the first of your videos that I ever saw, I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since then! I love your videos and you and everything you stand for!
I went through my entire wardrobe about 4 weeks ago... and literally donated 3 large bags worth of clothing to charity... this included a couple of pairs of shoes as well. Felt so good to downsize and to see what sparks joy and what doesn't anymore. We have an organisation here in Perth, West Australia called AYLA (Assisting Your Life to Achieve), which is a non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering people to overcome hardship. They also support the LGBT community here too. Within their building they have a small OP Shop, so seemed an appropriate organisation to donate too. Great vid Hannah.
I also need to go through my wardrobe, soon. I actually still have some things I bought 10-15 years ago but I do get rid of stuff once a year as well. I try to buy clothes made from good materials I know will last for a long time, so if I still love it, I can keep it for years. I also buy a lot of stuff second hand and can sew, so sometimes I just cut them up and make something else. Currently I'm preparing to start my own line of clothes I remake from second hand clothes 🙂
for the itching things(especially sweaters) I find wearing a t-shirt under is enough to keep the itchiness away. Also if you put body lotion on before it can help with itchiness
My favourite ethical/sustainable brands to shop at are Sézane, Paloma Wool, Armedangels, Birdsong and People Tree. Also love The Acey but it's currently not in operation.
I love charity shop clothes, my favourite top was from there and was one euro. I'm really loving this channel. I excuse myself way too much though now I go to sixth form because I like to safe my favourite clothes for the weekends and wear my clothes I'm indifferent to at school and it's a bad habit, you've really motivated me to give some clothes away as last time I did that, someone loved a dress I really hated and it's really nice to pass things on. Thanks for the reminder.
It is always a pain halfway through it but once it's done and the next morning when I'm picking out my outfits i end up wearing the oldest pieces in my wardrobe, love that!
My favorite ethical brands are The sisterhood, Symbology Clothing, reformation, christy dawn , synergy organic clothing, people tree, armed angels and yireh
this is so strange, I was literally watching your old clothes sorting video YESTERDAY and I was thinking how much I enjoyed that video because it was therapeutic to watch you go through your entire wardrobe. and now you upload another one?! incredible.this made my day :)
it's spring in australia, and i'm so happy because i found a bunch of my old clothes at my parents place that fit me! i've had drastic weight gain/weight loss in the last few years due to health problems, and was struggling to figure out how i would afford summer clothes that fit - and now i've been saved by my past self
I try to do that regularly, at the end of every season. However, because I'm a tour guide, and I work outside all day, I tend to only ever wear trousers, shirts and sweaters. My skirts and dresses are left unloved. But there's no way I'm getting rid of them, and on days when I'm not working and going out, I wear them. So even if they only come out once a year now, I've kept them. Some dresses (the real fancy ones), haven't been worn in years but you never know. Same goes with the shoes. I can't really wear heals anymore, because flat boots and sneakers are way more comfortable for work. But that also means I've invested in good quality pieces for day to day, especially this year: I got a merinos luxury sweater from a charity shop (no kidding, I paid like 20€ for something originally worth 200€ !), I got a sustainable alpaca sweater handmade in Peru (and half price, too, as it's from last year's collection), a dress from an outlet (fast fashion but I know the dress will last me years, I love that brand and it's really good quality) and a pair of linen shorts from the sales in Mango (probably the worst buy BUT they're heaven to live in for work). I'm now waiting for a light parka coat from Asos outlet (it's YELLOW). Not sure it'll fit though, so I'm still keeping an eye out in charity shops (I really want a yellow coat haha). I want to get rid of some old sweaters, too, but I'm waiting to find good quality replacements in charity shops.
Some sustainable shops I love that aren't too painfully expensive are Sisterhood and the one hundred club. If you are interested in becoming more sustainable its a good idea to try and sell some of your items instead of taking them to the charity shop as a lot of clothes in charity shops don't sell and end up in landfills in other countries! Depop is a super easy platform to use and you can always give the money you earn from them to a charity if that was the reason behind giving it to a charity shop! But I do love that sustainability is being talked about on this channel and that you're starting your journey into being more conscious about it :)
Thanks for bringing us more Hannah content! Watching your videos has always put a smile on my face...even through a difficult couple of years. This is my first RUclips comment, but just thought everyone likes to hear that they're great. Keep being you x
thanks for reminding me i need to do this, I do this every few months like i have a problem. i do donate every time i rid of things and ive been shopping at thrift stores a lot lately. I found this really cute dress, yellow with little black flowers all of it. Its 7:41pm am i about to go through all my clothes knowing i have school tomorrow? yes i am. update! 4 bags: teeshirts, dress shirts and pants, leggings, jeans, shorts, bras, jumpers/sweaters, jackets, dresses, tang tops. All to be donated!
Have you thought about making pillow/cushion covers out of the dresses/tops/skirts you love but can't justify keeping in your wardrobe? Great way to repurpose things you love and can be rotated seasonally!
Okay for some reason I have not been getting these videos in my inbox. I had to resubscribe and re-check the bell and everything. Anyway I literally feel this channel is made for me. Hannah you and I have the same organization tactics and I LOVE that when you have become too big for clothing or it isn't servicing its purpose for you anymore you just let it go so easily. I am the same way and everyone thinks Im crazy haha.
Your wardrobe is so colourful! I’ve been trying to add some new cloths to my closet that aren’t black. I don’t know why, but I just seem to accumulate black cloths.
My favorite ethical brand is Everlane, they make amazing basics that are super classic and last forever. I love their wide leg pants and just got a beautiful sweater from them
! Absolutely loved it! And I completely agree with you for making an effort to do it every year and remember the things you were like "if I don't reach for it, it's going", and actually sticking to it! Can you do a video about the shops/ brands you find that are ethical? I'd be super duper interested in it!! Generally I shop in charity shops & Depop - I feel a lot better about buying "bad brands" when I'm buying them second hand from a Charity shop or Depop. Then like L&Y, small vegan brands that do cool tees :)
LOVED IT! I recently had a sudden urge to clean my closet too. It was so weird. One day I woke up and I just HAD to do it. I just HAD to get rid of the stuff. And it was a lot of stuff. But not nearly as much as you. You have SO MUCH clothes!!! 😂😂😂 Lots of love!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
FatFace is my go-to clothing shop! Their stuff is a bit pricey but the quality is really good - I have tops I bought 10 years ago that still look completely fine. They have a "sustainability" page on their site and they're pretty open about how/where their products are made.
You could look for boutiques that sell clothes from newly graduated or small name designers because sometimes they will make the clothes themselves by hand. Then you're supporting new, local designers, getting something original, and you have a better idea of where the clothes are coming from :) And they aren't very expensive because they are just beginning to build their brand
If you have a sewing machine by any chance a really fun project to do would be to take any sentimental tshirts and make a quilt with them! I had no sewing experience at all and i made myself one
Good On You is a great app! It looks at sustainability in terms of environmental impacts, animal welfare, and how the brands treat their workers. Would highly recommend getting it and looking up brands that you might be using, they provide sustainable alternatives!!
Some of my favourite ethical brands are Everlane (who's clothing isn't very patterned but they do have colours and great staple pieces), La fille d'O lingere (sexy underwear), The Social Outfit (has some great colourful and patterned clothing), Winter Water Factory has some really nice jumpers and Armedangels is one I like to look at a lot. Also apparently Marks and Spencers is ethical, based on the Good On You app!
Hey Hannah, I want to thank you, and partly RUclips for recommending, this video as it inspired me to do my own major clear out and managed to fill a black bag up for charity. Couple of things need rewashed but once dry, bye bye those items of clothing
Off top: Just run into a girl on Instagram with handmade ceramics mugs that have vulvas inside them. Think I’m gonna by one cause Hannah Witton taught me to appreciate my own. ♥️
The RUclips channel My Green Closet is a good resource for sustainable clothing brands. Some of my favorite brands are PACT, Everlane, Boody, and Sweet Skins Hemp, and Conscious Clothing.
For sustainable fashion, The Green Labels puts together some sustainable brands. And, I also use Good On You directory of sustainable brands, and their app lets you research how are the brands doing sustainably wise.
I use an app called Vinted where people sell their old stuff. Feels better than buying new from the shop. I think it's a bit like poshmark but it's available in various European countries. Not sure if it's available in the UK
I can't really vote on the pole, because I like to go thrift shopping (so go to charity shops), I try to buy from ethical brands, I wear clothes A LOT (A LOT A LOT!!) - I have stuff I had over 10 years and still love to death, so yeah. I sew many of my own clothes and obviously also mend and repair them, so they last longer. My latest sewing project was a jacket I made entirely out of old band shirts I was no longer wearing (I cut them up & pieces the jacket together) and lined it with fleece. I can't wait to wear it! Right now we have a slight "heat wave" (suddenly 25°C again) so I have to wait a bit...
I have a couple of items of clothing in my memory boxes with other keepsakes. Made sense to me to get them out of my wardrobe but didn’t want to get rid 😊 Might work for your First Aid Kit tee? Xo
I try to sustainably shop, and my main focus is to stick to thrift/ charity shops. Buying from local or Etsy makers is great to reduce impact, but even then you can’t really say the fabric/ material was made completely ethically or sustainably, which is why I prefer sticking to used or resale clothing. On rare occasions I will buy specific items new if it’s something I can’t find used or that doesn’t make sense to buy used.
I nearly had a heart attack when you almost got rid of the Killing Eve pyjamas! I'm obsessed with that show so I've been looking for a pair for ages, but the only ones I can find are handmade ones on etsy for around £100! Honestly, if you're going to get rid of them after Halloween, it might be a good idea to auction them off and give the proceeds to charity, as many fans from the show would probably bid, and that way they'd raise more money for charity than if a charity shop were to sell then for a tenner. Just a thought! X
Hannah: Keep, charity shop. No in between.
2nd Item: Art Project!

Hannah you've literally sold me on Lucy's merch, you should get an affiliate link for it!
for the itching things(especially sweaters) I find wearing a t-shirt under is enough to keep the itchiness away.
People tree are good and their customer service is great. I love my bralet from them and lived in it most of the summer!
I was one of the people who was like "noooo second channels are annoying..." But if it means that we get more content like this, hell yeah!
this is so strange, I was literally watching your old clothes sorting video YESTERDAY and I was thinking how much I enjoyed that video because it was therapeutic to watch you go through your entire wardrobe. and now you upload another one?! incredible.this made my day :)
I really liked this video. I have a declutter obsession and all the video's are speed through or chaotic. This was really nicely structured.
it's spring in australia, and i'm so happy because i found a bunch of my old clothes at my parents place that fit me! i've had drastic weight gain/weight loss in the last few years due to health problems, and was struggling to figure out how i would afford summer clothes that fit - and now i've been saved by my past self
You did such a good job! Not just bc you got rid of a lot but you really thought about whether you wear them or felt good in them.
I’m so excited for this channel!!! These types of videos are always my favorites of yours. Love you, Hannah
Yay for the more Hannah channel! This inspired me to sort my wardrobe out x
Do iiiiiitt!!!
Your ruthlessness has inspired me! I really need to have a major clear out because I find it so hard to get rid of things😅
I love Hannah's earrings! I also love how she thanks the clothes that she gives away for their service haha
marie kondo method!
That bow in your hair is too cute! 🎀😘
Have you thought about making pillow/cushion covers out of the dresses/tops/skirts you love but can't justify keeping in your wardrobe? Great way to repurpose things you love and can be rotated seasonally!
HOW is it possible that I watch you for so many years, and had NO IDEA you have a second chanel! Damn, good job btw 👌🏻
I love these videos so much they give me so much motivation to go through my closet!
I love their wide leg pants and just got a beautiful sweater from them
I think a video researching it yourself and showing how accessible the advertising of different brands are would be an interesting video
I absolutely adored this video!! So inspiring, sorted through my stuff while watching!
LOVED IT! I recently had a sudden urge to clean my closet too. It was so weird. One day I woke up and I just HAD to do it. I just HAD to get rid of the stuff. And it was a lot of stuff. But not nearly as much as you. You have SO MUCH clothes!!! 😂😂😂
Lots of love!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Arden Rose does a lot with/about sustainable clothes, you could possible collab with her on the topic.
FatFace is my go-to clothing shop! Their stuff is a bit pricey but the quality is really good - I have tops I bought 10 years ago that still look completely fine. They have a "sustainability" page on their site and they're pretty open about how/where their products are made.
Great sustainable (online) shops: organic basics, birdsong, thought, two thirds, mayamiko, girlfriend collective, lucy & yak (obviously), seasalt, rapanui
did not know this channel existed but im so happy i found ittttt :D the more hannah the better
Yes so excited and I’m so elated that you started a new channel 💙
Already love this first video! And I am astonished at how much you got rid of, especially the dresses!
SO MUCH but ya know what, this was actually filmed months ago and I haven't missed any of the clothes I got rid of!
@@morehannah That's great! You actually inspired me to go through the clothes that I kept aside and I got rid of about two thirds of the things!
Love watching these videos! Want to sort through my wardrobe today now 💪🏻
'That's Dan's everything' 😂😂😂 how men manage to keep EVERYTHING in one drawer will never cease to amaze me
If you have a sewing machine by any chance a really fun project to do would be to take any sentimental tshirts and make a quilt with them! I had no sewing experience at all and i made myself one
Throwing out perfectly good jumpers you like is lunacy
Good On You is a great app! It looks at sustainability in terms of environmental impacts, animal welfare, and how the brands treat their workers. Would highly recommend getting it and looking up brands that you might be using, they provide sustainable alternatives!!
yeah I just discovered the website recently and have been using it a bit to reference - didn't realise there was an app though!
Why did youtube deprive me of a hannah decluttering video for two days!!!!!! More Hannah is giving the people (me) what we (i) want
My wardrobe can definitely use a clear out as well. I’m gonna have to just dive in and just do it or else I’ll never do it. Have a gr8 week Hannah 🤗
Off top:
Just run into a girl on Instagram with handmade ceramics mugs that have vulvas inside them. Think I’m gonna by one cause Hannah Witton taught me to appreciate my own. ♥️
Mind sharing her handle?
The annoyance in her voice at the idea of having to be respectable. 😂
i really need to do this, i have so many clothes u don't wear or don't like anymore but with Asos, I have accumulated a lot
I own the black short peacock dress at 17:15 and I really like it. I wear it to fancy events!
The RUclips channel My Green Closet is a good resource for sustainable clothing brands. Some of my favorite brands are PACT, Everlane, Boody, and Sweet Skins Hemp, and Conscious Clothing.
You did a great job, Hannah! So much fun to watch. :)
I wish I lived near hannah just so I could get her charity shop donations. Such great colours and patterns!
For sustainable fashion, The Green Labels puts together some sustainable brands. And, I also use Good On You directory of sustainable brands, and their app lets you research how are the brands doing sustainably wise.
Yes you need 3 yellow jumpers Hannah :) Where do you go to get things tailored? I have a few things I love that needs tweaking xx
I use an app called Vinted where people sell their old stuff. Feels better than buying new from the shop. I think it's a bit like poshmark but it's available in various European countries. Not sure if it's available in the UK
"Great Disneybounding skirt" I felt that in my soul hahaha
In the middle of watching this I felt the urge to declutter my own wardrobe and I did get rid of a few things that I will now try to sell
Twothirds! and Superstainable. They're Spanish and Danish brands :D
Have you ever thought about making a T-shirt Quilt with all the shirts you no longer need/want, a great way to keep the memories around.
Your bedroom is so nice!! Those draws are so pretty too- i wish my room was that lovely 😂
