    Oh yay!!! Chris, you are going to LOVE your Whiskey Tango Farms quail! I have 23 adults from them and they are the calmest, sweetest birds I have ever hatched and I JUST hatched 25 more today. They are bright, energetic, and healthy birds. WTF is in my top fave hatching eggs sellers! Good luck with yours!

    Hi, Chris! In my area our city council is deciding whether to approve city residents to be able to raise our own chickens. The mayor is definitely against it. We’re waiting to see if our requests to have chickens will be passed or not, but,,,after watching your videos and detailed information about quail raising-I think this would be a great way to get what I want and it’d be a lot easier than chickens! I’m anxiously awaiting the decision from city council, but,,,if I have these beauties in my garage/shop, they’d never know about them!?! My husband is not a farmer or a hands on guy at all, so I have my hands full trying to convince him to let me get into raising quail. My twin brother, though, is super anxious to have me get quail. Lol, I’ll have him do the processing part,,,,lol, but he’s not shy to things like that. He’s a hunter and fisherman. I don’t know why HE doesn’t get into this as well,,,,? Lol! Thanks for your great videos,,,and May God bless you, as well! Dee.

    My first time hatching eggs was last month. We hatched shipped eggs. 21/60 eggs hatched and all but one of the chicks survived. We had 40 jumbo browns and 20 celadons. Only 2 of the celadons hatched. I’m curious how your hatch rate will be, because I’m not sure if it was error on my side or if it was due to the eggs being shipped! We followed your previous hatching videos closely.

    My temps were good till I went into lock down. My govee extra temp/humidity was in a turning tray with the eggs. Reading great. I placed eggs and govee on the floor of incubator. It has gone from 99.6 to 96.9. Is this ok? My govee and brinsea 56 ex incubator has never agreed. Incubator is showing fine. Any ideal on what should I do. I just started lockdown this morning.

    One place I got eggs from were large compared to Myshire and they are all doing well right now popping out. Guess the other breeds for size. Getting quite a few double sized eggs from other quail in garage. Will be transferring some more to the brooder in a bit. Lost 2 weak tiny ones which seems to happen each time. It gets crammed in my little incubators. Seem to get a bunch then the rest 2 days later now. My cats chew on styrofoam so the plastic ones are okay but teeth marks where I left the incubator in the bottom part of styrofoam it came packed in.
    Glad I separated batches. Think one batch has the disease encyenylimitis? Big long weird word. One shaking after another then dying. Too many died one after another. Did nothing different. Wonder if I should put them all down and toss equipment. Have others in another incubator from elsewhere.

    Hi, just bought some adult coturnix quail. Do you think 6 month old/1 yr old hens will lay through winter with artificial light, and continue to lay through spring and next summer as well? I suspect that they have had artificial light for most of their life. really want to hatch out some of my own eggs next spring, and would be a bummer if my hens completely stopped laying before then. thanks in advance.

    • @kathymcleod1460
      @kathymcleod1460 3 года назад +1

      The hens will still lay eggs as long as light/diet requirements are met.

      You could hatch your own when the others slow down for more production next year. My plan. I have one more bought batch 9f eggs hatching for the year then next year hatch out my own from 3 sources.

    It looks like you started with 60 eggs and then only ended up with about 32 for lockdown. Could this be because you ran your humidity so high during 15 day incubation period? I generally run at about 42-45 percent humidity then bump up to about 75ish for lockdown. Thanks.

      I think buttons are even more sensitive than others. Temp is extremely important with them and even with quail wateres you have to put pebbles or something in there plus not giving them cold water. I had separate waterers and washed, refilled and left it on the counter to be room temp b4 next switching out. But honestly it's all a learning process so don't give up. Keep hatching!
