      Hi George! Thanks for the comment and please see the description of this video- I have a link to the how-to pdf on raising quail (very easy, straight forward guide) that we made for people newer to raising quail. Feel free to reach out to us here or on our Facebook page. Thanks again!

    Love the aesthetic...any chance you would release plans?

      Thanks! I’m sure I will do a simple how-to with plans. I made a bunch of hutches but used plans from my brain😂 But could get them written down.

      @@thedinosauromeletteId really appreciate it. We have a tool library in my city, and I think I can scavenge pallet wood. I'd love to try but it has to be pretty 'cause I live on a corner lot...no place to hide.

      @@seedweedreap ooooh. I have an old Timelapse video from a coup years ago I’ll put here of me deconstructing a pallet and building a coop.

      @@thedinosauromelette Thanks!! It looks soo good. I love how you put wood on both sides of the wire mesh so no one is in danger of getting scratched, that was a concern. Can't wait for the quail one! Any dimensions you can give on the quail version would be super helpful. I've been daydreaming about mine all day. These lil stinkers need to get out ma house! 😆

    Hi, what size of hardware cloth are you using I using ½ × ½ but no good all the poop (dropping) don't fall down. I am looking for something don't hurt the birds lag?

    • @thedinosauromelette
      @thedinosauromelette  8 месяцев назад +1

      We use 1/2 x 1/2 inch. No problems with poop! Smaller wire would get clogged, for sure. If their legs are being injured look for obstacles or wire burrs (rough wire). Has never been an issue

    wouldn't you want to enclose the sandbox side of the hutch for winter months?

    • @thedinosauromelette
      @thedinosauromelette  25 дней назад +1

      @@MissingLinkMTB due to their higher body temps and respiration there should be substantial ventilation even in winter! We covered the roof of one hutch one very cold winter for a day and the interior became completely saturated with water vapor and became very wet! So sides and bottom are covered but the roof/ceiling of the hutch has hardwire cloth to allow that ventilation! Thanks for the question!

    • @MissingLinkMTB
      @MissingLinkMTB 24 дня назад +1

      @@thedinosauromelette Thanks for responding!!! I'm building mine this coming week and I'll leave the roof off.

    • @thedinosauromelette
      @thedinosauromelette  24 дня назад +1

      @@MissingLinkMTB I’m sorry - you need a roof to protect from rain/sun/snow. I was referring to the individual hutch that will house the quail. I leave the entire top side ventilated (essentially uncovered ) by covering the top in hardware cloth . The hutch with the hardware cloth is attached to supports/legs that will absolutely have a roof. Sorry if what I said earlier I as confusing.

    Is there any way I can purchase some jumbo quail from you? I can pick them up if you're in Lancaster California

      Hehe…we’re in Lancaster….Pennsylvania! Sorry! But I hope that some of our info is helpful. We have a bunch of easy to understand/read resources we wrote (free) in the links in the descriptions of many of these videos. Sorry again!

      Is it possible to ship?

    • @thedinosauromelette
      @thedinosauromelette  5 месяцев назад

      @@fabriziom2661 hi Fabrizio- we do not ship. We don’t want to have any of our birds injured, sickened or stressed via shipping. So we focus on our location for local pick up. Particularly with these jumbo quail- they grow so quickly that a couple days in transport if stressful may well impact growth.
