I’m watching this and I can’t help my eyes from swelling & tearing up. Watching you talk, laugh & spend time together with your father. What was boy to man is now man to man, but we all retain that boyish charm when around our fathers and always learn something from them. My father & I were very close & great friends. I miss days like this so much... thank you for bringing that happiness back to me again even if only through great memories. Keep spending time together while you can, life is precious & short.
Depends on the relationship , my father & I dont talk but that is because he is one of the most introverted people on the planet. We respect one another and mind ourselves but we dont talk. Different folks, different strokes.
my favorite thing with you and your dad is whenever i have a question, you guys take the time to answer it, keep up the great work we all appreciate it...thanks for the good times...
Your relationship with your dad is priceless, it makes me cry to know people had that chance in life, I dont know what that is never knew my parents at all , but I'm thankful for you to have that chance. God bless you and your time with your dad

Omg your Dad is so funny. I really enjoy your videos because they always pick up my spirits when my medical condition is acting up and I'm in pain. Thanks for sharing your adventures. I get to explore the outside even though I can't physically be there. I live in North Carolina, US.

Just love your dad . . . you are so fortunate to have him in your life. Enjoy him all you can. So glad to see that you have reestablished the cabin at its new location. Looking forward to more visits and unboxings this winter.
It is refreshing and warms my heart to watch you and your father enjoying the chestnuts and different ones. Teaching others about the differences in taste and such. Thank you for the video. Perfect !

Its fun to see the relationship between you two. Two generations of men enjoying the wilderness together and sharing knowledge. Keep up the great content :)
Another TOTALLY ENTERTAINING video! I think I'm about the same age as you Graeme, and a lot of the things you mention in your video's bring back lots of memories. you talking about chestnuts takes me back to my childhood in the fifties. My family lived in Smethwick, on the outskirts of Birmingham and my married sister went to live in Rubery, near Bromsgrove on the outskirts the other side of Birmingham, in a new housing estate that had been built there. Every so often I used to go into Birmingham with my mom shopping on a Saturday, and we used to meet my sister there. You know, mother and daughter "shopping and catching up on the news", etc. We would then catch a number 63 bus to Rubery and spend an hour or two at my sisters' house and have tea there. Afterwards we would walk back down to the 63 bus stop and catch the bus back into "town" (that's what everyone called birmingham City Centre!). While we arrived in Brum we waited at the bus stop near to Snow Hill railway station to catch a number 74 or number 75 bus, there was always a guy there with an oven on wheels like a cart, 2 wheels and a handle. It was powered by coal and he used to sell baked potatoes and roast chestnuts. While we waited for a bus my mum used to treat me to a bag of chestnuts or if they weren't ready it would be spuds. the guy used to sprinkle a pinch of salt over them. The good old days.Sadly, my mother passed away 2014 aged 102. The memories stay with us though, don't they? Keep up the good work (just watched the video at St Audries, what a laugh you are!)
I’m a late comer to your channel and loving every minute I’ve watched so far. I am the same generation as your dad...he’s cracking me up. Oh for a simpler life. So envious of your lives. What a great escape from the daily trials our country (USA)is going thru now.
you two make me laugh so much. Thanks for sharing about the valley. I would love to have episodes like this from time to time. Not all the time, but once every six weeks. Greetings from Nashville, TN. USA
Boiled chestnut with milk is a very folky breakfast in Asturias (North of Spain). You peel them and boil them with a bit of salt until they are soft. Then you just warm milk with a little of honey and throw them inside like cereals. Plenty of energy for a day in the woods!
Hello. Today is also good weather. Wild chestnuts are delicious. Yes, bake it in the stove oven. Have a good time. That bag was nice too. I'm always looking forward to it.
Been offline a few weeks and was almost distressed at missing the awesome TA Outdoors...so glad to be in such great company again...what great banter and fun you had and us too!...thanks again...
The relationship you have with you Dad is awesome! My Dad and I are close, but there's no way my Dad would act as free loving and goofy as your father. Kudos to him! i enjoyed the video as always, and thanks for sharing.
You buggers! Sitting there, enjoying your chestnuts, and in AZ we are relegated to pistachios! Well...pistachios are bloody good! God bless you two, cheers!
Hello Mike and Graeme! I used to go chestnut collecting as a child in Albosaggia, northern italy with my Nonno and Zias! The way we used to cook them up is over hot coals or place them in a cast iron frying pan and leave over an open fire, always tasted amazing! Great vid as always, cheers!
Should give it a go if you're interested in animals, it's just been opened by a RUclipsr and he seems hella nice.. plus he lets you hold and interact with the animals in his little zoo
Mister Christopher how else do you propose we promote the idea of opening up about mental health? The very word “promote” should give you a clue you flannel.
To:@@HazeOutdoors @misterchris.... dudes just a troll fish looking for food in a pond he can't comprehend. Sign out front says please don't feed the troll fish for a reason lol. You guys just keep making videos that interest me just like you always have 💞 the styles and ingenuity from you both!
When I was only a child in the 60s 70s up here in North Wales Autumn was a fantastic time of year for foraging for sweet chestnuts and hazelnuts but come the end of the 70s the red squirrels were driven out and the greys moved in and all the sweet chestnuts hazelnus were destroyed by the greys before they had time to grow properly. Love your channel, great video as always.
I am from upstate New York and I just wanted to say I love watching you guys. There should be many many more shows like yours regarding family unity👍❤️
I LOVE it when you and your dad are together in a video! I also LOVE it when you eat/cook, yes I'm a lady, but It just makes what you guys do so much more appealing. very cute duo! Hello from Sweden guys! It is awsome to watch you two! Your Father is awsome and fun! He remind me of my dear Father that departed in 2001! I miss him so! My dear Mother departed a few years after my father and there is not a day i not think of my loved parents! I must say i enjoy to watch you two work and play together, like the episodes you played crush the chestnut! Hahaha i laughed and have so fun! I hope to see more videos of you! WOW that knife is exact looking as a knife i got from my grandpa for 50 years ago and it is like new after all the years! FUN!!
Just love watching you and your dad together. Reminds me of when I used to go out with my dad bless him. Keep up the great videos guys, I only watch your vids as they are true real life.
Aubberfly JM I BELLY LAUGHED when your dad stuck the "bull's eyes" on his eyes!! Your dad is lovely with all his life experience and stories and interests in the changes in weather, etc. 😍 😁
Great fun, mates! In Missouri, USA, we called them buckeyes. You guys are very knowledgeable of the world! My favorite sponge is my son-in-law, always got his hand out, if you know what I mean! Great video and those chestnuts looked yummy! Next time. Thanxz
True friendship... now I understand how it’s important to be engaged with... dad) i miss my so much, so please be safe and healthy both of you, and stay with us at the yt channel in amazing GB woods) cheers!
My dad would have loved this! Thankyou for sharing your family as well as your skills.i have never had chestnuts, just seen it in Christmas movies. Maybe one day.
Absolutely splendid, a lovely treat with some knowledge thrown in for free. Great adventure, its nice to have a Dad like that and I hope Mum wasn't too concerned about her missing salt grinder. Well done chaps it is by far better watch than anything on the tele these days.
I love the video reminded me of my youth growing up on a farm in Michigan we had a lot of chestnut trees and black walnut trees on our farm .My Dad and Grandfather would make chestnuts just the way you guys did.and this video really takes me back. Yes in the Southern Michigan region where I grew up near Indiana and Ohio they did call them Buckeyes Although I dont know why.I enjoyed the video.
Hi Mike, I’m glad you get to make memories with your dad!! Time well spent. We roasted Chestnuts over an open fire using an old Popcorn popper pan. And the worms were just extra protein hahah. As for the size of our nuts (laughing) I would say they were just a bit smaller then the Portuguese variety you had.
I really enjoyed your video, you guys are so sweet. The video your Dad showed us awesome. My family comes from those islands, but that us the first time i have ever seen it. Beautiful!!
I have bought roasted chestnuts from street vendors in NYC in the past, but they always tasted burned. I had better luck in Seville, they were roasted to perfection. Although my favorite is marron glacé. Yummy!!! Love the relationship between the two of you. I wish I could have had a piece of that Victoria sponge, it looked delicious.
Chestnuts here in British Columbia are the same size as the Portugese ones. I haven't roasted any yet, but I will try that. Our fall this year is beautiful. We normally start getting constant rain later in September, but here it is the end of October and it only rained once; last night. And today is sunny and warm. We (south British Columbia) have the same weather as you; mild, wet winters with a bit of snow here and there. Absolutely love your videos and the relationship you have with your dad. Can't wait to see more.
Finished too soon. Stood on that cliff myself in Madeira, I was fine, but everyone else got a shock when my skirt blew over my head! Absolutely beautiful island. Yes, we feel really bad that we are planning to be driving a deisel van around in order to share ecological awareness, may be getting it switched to veg oil. Thanks for another great video, you two keep us going!
Mmm... roasted chestnuts are a favorite childhood memory. I am not certain if it's the camera lens, but the pallet "porch" appears slightly bowed. I noticed it at 15:15 . The center/middle could use another block or two if this will be a permanent addition. That aside, thank you for another wonderful video about your bushcraft site and shack... so many useful ideas and things to ponder and laugh 😸😸
I went on a wine tour in wine country in New York State and I tried chestnut soup. It was really good and I wish I still had the recipe for it. I love your videos. Dad was funny talking about the Nuns Valley. Lol.
Sometimes here in the Rocky’s we get a warm autumn. This year no such luck 4 more inches of today. The curse of living 4000 feet above sea level. Love the vids. Thx. Loved the camera inside the stove edit!
Hello guys, I loved your video's. Loved it when you were talking about your Dad watching the news and and lamenting. Interesting how you became the prepper and he just goes fishing. ;-) Just kidding, I know your not a prepper. Just think when the world does end you can "bug out" to the palletwood, and your Dad can find a stream and fish and you can make fires with a bow drill. Seriously love both your channels.
Cool music..old London favourite,.. roasted chestnuts. Glad your cutting them first,I knew a girl that bit into a roasted chestnut straight out off the fire ,and it exploded in her mouth..quite nasty injury.
Good video as always. Pollution is not only our cars but the factories that run 24/7 pumping out pollution but seem to get away with it as well. Once they get sorted out and cars hopefully things will start to get better. Not a lot only slightly.
First time watching your video. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing you. It was so refreshing to see a son enjoy his dads company. I knew of chestnuts but have never seen a tree. I live in Georgia USA. If they grow in my area it would be just one or two. Hope to see you again.
Only ever have chestnuts in stuffing at Christmas. You’ve inspired me to try them another way! Don’t have a fix for pollution, but ‘Show Us Your Steak!’ and maybe we can help men’s mental health. Cheers.
Just so greatful to you and your dad again in another AWESOME an informative video indeed. Hoping you and family and the best dog in the world are doing fantastic. Thank you for sharing. All the best from Northern Canada.
This was the first time I have seen your videos. Very enjoyable. I live in southern Indiana. Love to have a little cabin in the woods like that. Will be looking for your next Bushcraft video.
As kids we had a favourite spot for chestnuts and agree the tastiest were the lighter coloured ones, best eaten raw, peeled and scraped, so crunchy. We used to fill our pockets with them, a tasty healthy snack.
Hanging with your dad is special. Cherish every moment bud. Great video. Also sycamore is one of the first to change colors here in Louisiana , USA. Amazing camera work.
Don't worry dad. Your knife is just an old scouting knife. I had the same one when I was a kid on scouting. You guys make great vids btw. Thanks for that!
I have to say, over the past few months you pair have made me laugh so much!. I have been going through a difficult time with my depression, but you seem to pick me up, I think I am the same age as your dad 67, shhhh, and would have loved to have had the same relationship with MY dad, who sadly ,died 4 year ago aged 96. Keep up the good work . Lots of love and best wishes Keith
“Autumn” in Ontario is the same, we seem to get snow before fall even comes around. But yes, it definitely happens over night and doesn’t last long. Love the videos, I want to do this myself, been a dream of mine. Enjoy!
Hello Mike, that's quite a haul of fresh chestnuts you've got there! You do realise there's a squirrel somewhere zeroing in his gun and carving your name on a bullet? Keep your head down and ATB👍👍👍🤣
There is more pollution created by the production of the car, than would ever be produced by the use of the car . The older the car the more environmentally friendly it is. Happy thanks giving from Mudge Island, B.C. The Autumn goes for a couple of months around here, its totally awesome :-)
honestly the relationship you have with your father makes me want to cry, im truly envious. most wholesome thing in the world.
I’m watching this and I can’t help my eyes from swelling & tearing up. Watching you talk, laugh & spend time together with your father. That shot of you putting the kindling in the stove (and lighting it) from the perspective of inside the stove was so cool!!!
I wanted to say that lol
...but then he lit the match and I was like "YO! WHAT ARE YOU DOING"? 😅
Just love your dad . . . you are so fortunate to have him in your life. Enjoy him all you can. So glad to see that you have reestablished the cabin at its new location. Looking forward to more visits and unboxings this winter.

Sometimes here in the Rocky’s we get a warm autumn. This year no such luck 4 more inches of today. The curse of living 4000 feet above sea level. Love the vids. Thx. Loved the camera inside the stove edit!
Hi guys i am from South Africa but British origin just love you guys
What you and your dad have together is better than what any rich men in the world have!
As a portuguese young man i aprove everything said in this amazing video, good job guys!
That pallet cabin is cool the work is award winning good job guys
Every Lad should have a Dad like Graham. I was very lucky to have my Dad.....
You 2 are so brilliant and funny together..keep up the good work
Only ever have chestnuts in stuffing at Christmas. You’ve inspired me to try them another way! Don’t have a fix for pollution, but ‘Show Us Your Steak!’ and maybe we can help men’s mental health. Cheers.
chestnuts chopped up fine in stuffing is amazing
I can remember my nana putting chestnuts , II the Turkey stuffing mix . At Christmas , when I was a kid. 😌
Lots of love and best wishes
Keith
THE GLORIOUS MUSTACHE!!! I see him and his Dad in the the thumbnail, I know I’m gonna have a good time.
Your father sounds like Sir David Attenborough at the end just wonderful.
Keep your head down and ATB👍👍👍🤣
haha indeed there probably is!
LETS GO these videos are great can’t wait for the winter overnighters mike keep the videos coming 👍
Thanks - Overnighter next vid
For Thanksgiving my Mother used to put chopped roasted chestnuts into her cornbread sage dressing. It was absolutely delicious.
There is more pollution created by the production of the car, than would ever be produced by the use of the car . The older the car the more environmentally friendly it is.
Happy thanks giving from Mudge Island, B.C.
The Autumn goes for a couple of months around here, its totally awesome :-)
You guys are the best. So enjoyable to watch.
Thanks for the video. All the best from Maine.
Awesome video man ! Greetings from Rio Grande do Sul - Brazil !
