EPISODE 11: We continue more pallet wood projects on the outside. PLUS - We bring Jaxx along too, although he had to be on the lead as there is a large Badger Set in the area and Rabbits. Being a Jack Russell Terrier, it's his instinct to want to chase these small mammals, which can be dangerous if he gets stuck down one of the holes. Better to be safe than sorry! Hope you enjoy the episode
More than most channels, you've inspired people to do amazing things. When I was homeless, I used to think about gathering pallets and doing something like this but was to afraid to draw attention to myself. You've not only done it, but proved it can be a home. If things cave, people are gonna need shelter- and you've taught them they can do it. I love my cast iron and wouldn't trade it for anything.
I Was home less and too like Tina Gallagher I thought that there was no reason the pallets should be used that are all over the place , but if you do something unconventional people com up with all kind of things about you, until of course they stumble upon what they're missing out on, a very good example of that here in the US is the scrap industry, it cracks me up! There is much waste in this great country.
You know seeing you and your dad being real close and loving the outdoors makes me wish my father was still alive. He loved being outdoors and my most favorite memories of him are the days we went camping. Your father makes me think about my dad. He died when was eight I keep wondering at times what life would have been like if he was around wishing I could laugh with him and have good time with him as you have with your father. Cherish the times you both have and thank you for giving me the ability to think about him more. Your dad looks like my father I feel like wondering what his older years would have been like. Cheers.
Great to see Jaxx back at the pallet cabin. He looked like he was having a great ole time even though tethered up. The Makita spoon egg beater was a classic, lol. Have a Happy Easter weekend and cheers to you and your dad.
When your dad took the 2 spoons and stuck them in his drill to make a whisk ; and it worked ..right then and there I knew. He was just brillant..love you guys
You and your dad are so inventive, I just love watching your video's. When I was younger my dad always took us camping and fishing in New Mexico and Colorado! I love to camp and fish bit as it turns out I have a very bad back condition that keeps me from walking to far, I have to use a walker at the age of 56, so I go camping with you! Thank you it means a lot to me, God bless!
Wow! You guys are including some awesome add-ons. Maybe you should consider renting out the B&B Pallet House for a weekend? The only other thing you'll need to add is a small outhouse with a composting toilet! Oh, and a shower curtain for the washing area. Just a thought. :-) Loving this series, keep mesmerizing us with pallet wood.
Amazing!!! I starting watching Lilly about a year ago now, love your vids and the effort you put into everything you do! And you too Mike and Graham!! So happy to see Lilly comment here, blown away!! :D:D
It great to see Lilly comment here. I've been watching her fantastic content from the beggining and I think that lead to your early vids showing up in my recommended viewing feed. Great to see youtube inadvertently creating and building on an awesome community of people learning and growing together enjoying the beauty of nature and the great outdoors in such a sustainable and connected way. Keep up the great content.
My grandparents used chicken wire to create the frame for their compost piles. Daily, they took their food trash, banana peels, egg shells, orange peels, coffee grounds, etc. and turned it into their compost piles. They had a very large garden so they needed huge compost piles. They always had multiple piles. They pile we put food waste in and kept turning over was not to be uses as compost for two more years. They piles were rotated on a three year cycle. They always had record sized produce from the garden. Love your show keep up the great work!
this day 15 years ago i lost my dad, he loved fixing things and building more than i do (he was a professional builder, after all), his knowledge and skill will far surpass my own for a long time, if not forever, because he didn't have the chance to teach me much of what he knew. it's really good to see you two making an effort to spend proper time together, far too many people don't appreciate the opportunity, or understand how lucky they are.
Mike, You can add the eggshells to the compost instead of throwing them in the bin. This can really help with nutrients for the plants. Also things like the egg box will compost very quickly because of its structure. Just an handy idea to help cutdown landfill and add to your recylcing ethos. Great vids as always, keep them up!
I'm off work today!! Sat at home with it raining outside, I have a beer on the go and the Mrs is cooking toad in the hole!! :)) and now watching TA outdoors!! Perfect :) have a good Easter everyone!!
'Over the Hill and Through The Woods To Grand(father's) House We Go!' I am always amazed by Graeme's inventive mind and his spontaneous visual humor! Thanks for another absorbing episode. We don't often get to see one real part of Bushcraft--cleaning up the dishes out in the woods. PS: that clear plastic tarp over the raised beds is going to heat load without some way of providing adequate ventilation.
Just love to watch you guys work. Perhaps making a work bench would be nice so no to work on your knees/ on the ground. I remember when my dad would get used lumber, pull all the nails and reuse them. You and your dad are awesome.
Can't say enough of how I love watching you both building and working together reminds me of my dad, (rip). Thanks again for enjoyable video, keep it up!
Mike and dad I just want you to know that my husband and I have enjoyed your episodes. We found them most informative and entertaining. We had planned on doing something similar to this for ourselves as a get away. However, we won't be doing that now. My husband passed on March 17, St. Patrick's day here in the US, but I still enjoy watching all the things you do and build. When I watch your episodes I feel that he is still with me. Please don't stop building on your off grid cabin!
Sorry to hear of your sad loss .Be assured we will hopefully continue making our films. We have a huge following of people that enjoy what we get up to ,so I hope there will be something you enjoy watching in the future.
What a great way for a Father to spend time with his son. Such a cute puppy, I have a jack beagle and you're so right, almost lost my baby down a gofer turtle hole.
I enjoy watching these videos with your father in them. I wish my brothers and I done this with our dad when we ALL were younger. Inspires me to do this with my 2 boys THANK YOU! Good work, great ideas thanks for sharing
You guys should build a pallet wood picnic table. I think that would be a cool project. Love all the survival Bushcraft stuff and the pallet wood projects you guys are great.
Would be great to see a water collection system project built there at the pallet cabin, you do have lots of rain! Great video guys, thanks for sharing your ideas and family time!
Great watching you and your Dad making stuff for the cabin. Amazing how your subscriber numbers are rocketing, I reckon people really like these cabin videos.
Graham.. I walk my Jack Russell's on the seawall, south wales. The fishermen are always friendly, but some leave a real mess of litter. Its refreshing to hear you say about litter. Another great video.
I like the spoons in the drill trick, clever. I'm sure a standard whisk would work good in it as well. I use my drill with my hand ice auger for ice fishing works great. Thanks for sharing
It's amazing how much progress you guys have made on the pallet wood cabin. It's really starting to look like a home. You should consider planting some grass seed to keep out of the mud. Can't say enough how great your channel is!
I just love your site, Your Father and You and Your Dog make this such a fun thing to watch as what you both build surprises us all watching. So you asked what we would think next of building and I was thinking hot sunny days will be coming and maybe you should think of some kind of canopy or umbrella to sit under to get out of the sun. Maybe you can put it where your dogs line is so he can sit by you and be under the canopy too. Just a thought. Look forward to see more of your shows.
You can put the egg shells in your compost, as well as the soapy water. Also when you need to go, using the compost bin as a urinal: will add some nitrogen and other bits of mineral. LOVE the Badger's Rest videos.
Pretty soon you will have a small village! Fantastic!! You are doing what I used to do when I was a teenager. Go out in the woods and build a cabin! Such fun! I don't even watch any other outdoor channels. No need to? Thanxz
Thanks a lot for an other wonderful video. I would like to see a Pallet Wood Fishing Boat or a Pallet Wood Waterwheel. Best wishes from Switzerland Felix
Love this series!!!! Was working when I got the notification and couldn't wait to get home to watch it. Thank you for taking the time to make the video. Love em.
I like the things Father and Son have come up with, you should expand the pallet cabin to your other site too as a survival cabin for extreme weather conditions on the days of rainstorms and snow. I am Ex Army and living off the land was a constant fact of life years ago. Cold feet, cold hands were constant day to day rotins in the field.
You can put the egg shells into the compost. The carton also if it is cardboard. If you get a couple bales of straw, and spread it around the camp, it will keep the mud down. thanks for making your videos.
I love these guys .. real people in the countryside that are not lost in popular culture bullshit !! eating, they know and enjoy live .. Turkey to salute.
I'd like to see you add on again water collector of some sort and possibly an outhouse bathroom. That would help with water carrying. All in all you guys have done a great job building the camp and I can't wait to see what's next!
Doing a very similar project but I'm using old fence boards. I work for property management group and all the fences that fell over from storms I will be using for the cabin. I am also I'm also very lucky to get other things from work and I'm only 16. I can't wait to see how things turn out!
Thanks for all the wonderful intersting, humorous and relaxing videos. It is a pitty I understand only very less because my english is not good enough to follow your explanations. But what I understand is, you both are a wonderful father-son team and you have a lot of fun. So, watching your videos is much much better than watching boring german television! I particularly like the nice imaginative ideas you have to create helpful solutions like the table, or the sink, or the candel glasses!! Most cordial greatings from Duesseldorf.Eduard
you could grow some small cherry bush toms in the raised planter .(go nice with bacon & sausage) that compost box is very sustainable being in the forest.dont forget to keep turning it mate.

The Makita whisk! lol! Always cool to see you and your dad together doing things.
I just revisited this video: already I had forgotten how full of interest and of good fun it was the first time through.

Thumbs up.

Wiltshire Man, I came up with Glen Ballard and Siedah Garrett. It was their first composition and I believe written for Micheal Jackson.
You might be right. I just did a quick google search.

Def turning out to be AWESOME guys! Cant wait to see whats next
Love the washing bench and the bin really good idea lads well done
you could grow some small cherry bush toms in the raised planter .(go nice with bacon & sausage) that compost box is very sustainable being in the forest.dont forget to keep turning it mate.
You need air to circulate for that compost to work. Cut a lot of holes in the sides and some in the bottom for drainage.
That will be great compost for growing veggies
