It could be the more subtle change in tone as his Japanese and Chinese voice has that obvious dip that makes him sound more double faced! The English and Korean voices have more of a subtle change in tone that makes it feel like he’s had that side present all along and he simply snapped with the Fatui member. At least that’s what I liked about it personally!
Right the korean ver slayed it. The voice suits the character and the VA is like the character itself. It felt natural, his voice when Scaramouche's mood changed had more emotion and impact compared to other VA

That's why I end up not liking a lot of Korean dubs for stuff. Too robotic and detached. But, for Scaramouche, it sounded so natural and flowed very well. Same here! I actually generally prefer most of the male voices in Korean VA (although I really don’t prefer the high pitch tendency that female Korean VAs have). Playing the game in Chinese dubs seems to be the most balanced imo. Plus I have a preference to hear how the “original” script would sound like.

Personally I think Scaramouche's JP voice is my favorite. The fake gentleness in his voice is really interesting to me, it makes it seem like it's a front he puts up due to his SHORT TINY SMALL THREE-APPLES-HIGH appearance. Even when the mask is slipping, he still uses the pronoun "Boku" which gives off the vibe of being a young and/or humble guy (more of a soft-masculine way to say "I").. Its like the pronoun-based linguistic equivalent of saying "I'm sorry, you must be an idiot :)"
My favorite dubs are the original, Korean, and Japanese one. The Chinese and Korean one make him seem serious while the Japanese one makes him even more of a brat 😅
Kana (Chinese VA) did so good. Knowing that he voices Scaramouche and Aether (male mc) shows how talented he is (and after I looked through his YT channel I see how much different they both sound, really nice!). I also like Korean VA, they sound really fitting for the character.
Broo the Japanese and Korean ones were dope. You can clearly hear the change in his tone of voice for when he gets mad. I also like how the voices contrasted from the character design. Usually you’d expect a higher voice but it’s actually deeper for him. Also, kudos to the Japanese va for empathizing on making his voice playful and making him seem not that scary, but then revealing that the playful voice is just an act in that one scene. It really stood out to me as a viewer.
I like the Korean and Chinese versions, they both have that calm, menacing vibes that I think fits his character- or at least pretty close to what I thought he sounded like in my head lol. But all the dubs were pretty good! 😊👍

@Wxl the first 清 should be 听tīng(listen) instead, and 干 should be 刚(gāng). The gān you use means "dry" and if you write "干(gàn)才" it means talented xD so the meaning is completely different! "你没听清我刚才说的话吗?" But good job getting most of the other words and their pinyin! Chinese is known to be difficult and even i still struggle with it lol. If you are learning chinese, all the best!~

Not just the voice make a difference, their line get changed into a different meaning, deviate a bit from each other. The Chinese version literally said "did you not hear clearly what I said just now?" But in English it became "are you deaf, or just stupid?" Which totally changed the personality of the character.

While the Korean and Chinese voices are really nice and fitting, the Japanese one is a masterwork imo. He starts off with that really innocent and friendly tone and as the scene progresses he slowly drops the mask to reveal the more twisted side. The best part is obviously that sliding switch to the deep, pissed off tone when addressing the soldier, it's just damn orgasmic how good that VA's voice control is. Probably my favorite voice work from the entire bunch so far.
What's interesting to me is that in all versions, his voice genuinely sounds similar (especially the English and Japanese). It seems that all the recording studios got the same vibes from him.
I love having my game on English Dub, but I swear there are some characters that just have such incredible Japanese VA's that I'm kinda tempted to switch.

Broo the Japanese and Korean ones were dope. You can clearly hear the change in his tone of voice for when he gets mad. I also like how the voices contrasted from the character design. Usually you’d expect a higher voice but it’s actually deeper for him. Also, kudos to the Japanese va for empathizing on making his voice playful and making him seem not that scary, but then revealing that the playful voice is just an act in that one scene. It really stood out to me as a viewer.

I like the Korean and Chinese versions, they both have that calm, menacing vibes that I think fits his character- or at least pretty close to what I thought he sounded like in my head lol. But all the dubs were pretty good! 😊👍

@Wxl the first 清 should be 听tīng(listen) instead, and 干 should be 刚(gāng). The gān you use means "dry" and if you write "干(gàn)才" it means talented xD so the meaning is completely different! "你没听清我刚才说的话吗?" But good job getting most of the other words and their pinyin! Chinese is known to be difficult and even i still struggle with it lol. If you are learning chinese, all the best!~

Not just the voice make a difference, their line get changed into a different meaning, deviate a bit from each other. The Chinese version literally said "did you not hear clearly what I said just now?" But in English it became "are you deaf, or just stupid?" Which totally changed the personality of the character.
For some reason translation to english always make a lot of characters turn into assholes.
Same thing they did to Childe as an antagonist and Paimon being extra savage compared to the other languages.
so this is why they say that when you're using another language that isn't your native language it's also like changing your personality

While the Korean and Chinese voices are really nice and fitting, the Japanese one is a masterwork imo.
He starts off with that really innocent and friendly tone and as the scene progresses he slowly drops the mask to reveal the more twisted side. The best part is obviously that sliding switch to the deep, pissed off tone when addressing the soldier, it's just damn orgasmic how good that VA's voice control is. Probably my favorite voice work from the entire bunch so far.
What's interesting to me is that in all versions, his voice genuinely sounds similar (especially the English and Japanese). It seems that all the recording studios got the same vibes from him.

He sounds the angriest in Chinese. And like Aether, too. And in Korean, after he gets angry, he's so deep and menacing sounding.
Scaramouche and Aether are voiced by the same voice actor(Chinese). 鹿喑kana. He's so amazing that i created an alt just so i can use Aether as my main.

この点に関しては人の好みですので正解はないですが、私は日本の声優も好きですよ。とりわけ魈や胡桃は。
