    Might be biased as a 981 owner, but this channel is the best lol! Very helpful to get insight on the roads out east as I will likely be moving to NC next year🙌

    Just did US250 up to Elkins, WV a couple of weeks ago in my new GR86. Stayed in Elkins, WV overnight and took US33 home. Fun roads!! 650 mile weekend for the wife and I.

    This is a great series to follow. The twisties vs. flow numbers capture how people describe "good driving roads" in very different ways! If you ever drop down to roads too small for double-yellows, may I recommend Howard's Lick Road in WV, it's just rollicking.

    Bonus: The open-meadows gap at Highland, VA, between ridges 4 and 5 in the video (though not shown), is truly gorgeous. The road's on top of two valleys for 30 seconds or so as it crosses the top of the gap, with beautiful side roads down each valley. One of the branches of the Potomac gets its start flowing off the gap's north side.

    Another fun video, thanks! That 981 Cayman S sounds fantastic. I’ll be up in Virginia in a couple of weeks. I’ll see if I can’t get over to VA 250.

    I can’t remember if we’ve ever run 250 west to east. Might have to figure out how to work that into the next trip for an alternate take. Love the yee-haw at 10:15! Was feeling good that day. 😊

      Nice run up the rising straight to a good round number on the Speedo there! I think if you stay in Elkins it’s a nice run back from the West!

    Wow what a road! Clean driving as usual. I love the addition of the GPS, however, my brain still has trouble working out whether you're going up or downhill 😄😄

    • @trueview3127
      @trueview3127  4 месяца назад

      Perhaps an altimeter? The maps are manual key framing actually - sadly the GoPro GPS doesn’t work well enough to give a good track when mounted in n the center of the car.

    Great video! I love this road. Thanks for showing all five ridges!
    FYI - my computer tried to play it in SD and I had to manually set it to 4K . . . looked a lot better. I wonder if that happens to others?

      Its a great road for sure! Definitely should watch in 4K of HD vs. SD . . . . but for this video, the sound of the engine is amazing too! Listen on good speakers or headphones if you can too!

    What tires have given best performance for these drives and longest tread life?

    • @trueview3127
      @trueview3127  3 месяца назад +1

      Hard to say for sure since we didn't try them all, but in our experience the Michelin PS4S tires hold up well, lasting for around 8-12k miles with this type of driving. The Pirelli P Zero N1's lasted around 8k miles and had similar grip levels, the Continental Extreme contact sport's lasted around 8k miles and had slightly higher grip levels initially, but after around 4k miles were similar to the P24S or Pirelli's.

    what time are you usually driving these backroads 6am or later?

    • @trueview3127
      @trueview3127  4 месяца назад +1

      Typical trip includes about 300 to 500 miles per day of constant backroads. We never get out that early - in this case I think it was about 2pm on a Thursday. We find that Friday after 2pm is high traffic - Saturday is hit and miss and Sunday as well. Early mornings are best in the busiest roads on the weekends.

    What exhaust/mods did you do to this?

    • @trueview3127
      @trueview3127  4 месяца назад +1

      The 981 S has a Soul Performance exhaust - valved version. Also a tune which may emphasize the burbles. I will try to get more info as I don’t recall the specifics on the tune.

      The GTS 4.0 was the source of the trailing ground level cam - so that could be possible!
