I have a total care disabled son. We do not have a wheel chair van and we were stuck at the ER last weekend. I had been up for 22 hours and could wait no longer for the hospitals transport team. For the first time ever I lowered both back seats. Put the doubled up Egg Crate mattress down in back, put several pillows down ( I had packed up in case he was admitted. I never leave him alone because he is non verbal) asked the ER staff to helped me load him in and I drove the 4 miles home slowly. Doing this made me realize if he could fit in back I could too. I can go camping all by myself if I want. And that's how I ended up here watching this video. 👍 If I were able to somehow take his wheelchair along, we could get to the doc appt and avoid using Medicaid Transport all together. Very nice work and craftsmanship. Thanks for sharing.

i like this build however, i would make storage space below a little shallower, its pretty generous. i dont need mil crakes but can get those plastic totes that are about 8 inched tall and slide them in, one side for personal stuff, the other for camping gear. the space behind the seats is kinda wasted unless i needed to store longer items. i did see someone who had a tent that would connect with the rear of the car and it gave you a covered area you could have to do things if it rained. i have a crv that i could do this with and get away for the weekend with, maybe a summer project.

I built a bed platform, with the rear seats still in, that gives me very little head space. It’s a little claustrophobic! ... I’m not sure about removing those seats permanently, as I still have people ride with me occasionally. Can you provide your contact info please? I’d like to chat with you about this.
Hi Nora, thanks for writing us! The rear seats in a CRV can definitely get in the way of a comfortable platform, in this particular car we removed them for the build. Although in this year of the CRV the seats could be placed back in without too much trouble! We design our builds to be taken out and put back in with relative ease so people can assume regular functionality of their car again. I just bought a new CRV. I was a bit dismayed that even with the seats down it’s not totally flat !! Picturing a PIA if trying to push a 80 lb unassembled bookcase in there . Otherwise it’s a dream come true !
Wendy Price... I’m in a 2019 Passport now. Those seats fold all the way flat and the headroom is fantastic. I looked at many 🚙 and the Passport won! I’m super happy about my space in it.

@@Goodvibesonly40 $3,000? lol. At Home Depot you could buy the material then pay a carpenter to do it for about $500.00 lololol. If you can use a power drill, measuring tape, table saw, a sander and a paint brush with lacquer you can diy lol.
