@@mctigmctiggy1475 Hi. Dozens, and often, I’ve worked as a motoring journalist in the tuning scene for the last 17 years as well as having my own cars tuned by various tuners for almost 25yr. Hope this helps.
In a prior video Steve said that guys that don’t read plugs are not true tuners. They are just keyboard pushers. The computer numbers are just reference points. The plugs tell the real story of what’s going on inside the engine.
At least you know how to tune the carb lot of "Tuners" today don't know anything about a carb and can't tune them to save their lives so it's good to have guys like you that know how to do that because Carbs are still ran on cars they are not as popular as they were but there are many that still run them
That's all powder coating (Done by QC Coatings, Shelby Township, MI). Steve did the tuning. Like he says in the video, when the engine acts a certain way he understands why and knows what to adjust to get the desired results. 2,025RWHP!!!!
Only complaint i have here steve is i wish like hell you would have taken us on the initial tuning journey and seeing what you saw and did..man that would have been a goldmine, at least for me. As always thank you for everything you do share.
Kinda crazy. Wonder why doesn't switch to EFI? It's pretty clear he has the financial ability. Maybe an old timer that doesn't want to switch. Idk, it's still a beautiful machine
That is a beautiful car for sure!! Would be great to just add a Holley pro dash you can run it stand alone with all the sensors you want and log too, still with the carb setup.
This is far more impressive than efi 2000hp. I don’t trust efi knock systems much. I often check at least one plug when I see knock limit. The spark plugs always tell the truth.
Hey Steve because I listen and pay attention I remember you telling us that you can use blow thru up to around 1600 maybe 1700 HP because that was about all the Carburetor combos would support and that you didn't really like Big Cubic inch Motors for the Boosted application you said you typically like the 540 even the 565 or 615 inch but even that wasn't you go to combo ..So what Changed down at SMRE ?????
@@bigboreracing356 I'm going to have to hard disagree with you. In most cases you get an efi car tuned once then you mess with power management which imo isn't the "tune". Once your base tables are in it's pretty much done, day to day, and track to track the computer automatically adjust for changes in altitude, temp, ambient pressure etc for you. You can't possibly tell me a carb is easier than automatic. It's just not true. The only argument that could possibly stand there is initial tune.
@@bigboreracing356 oh good grief! I'll make sure I let all of the fastest cars in the world know that their fuel injection is for driving, not racing. Thanks!
@@bigboreracing356 Maybe cars are different, but for off road motorcycles EFI seems a ton easier to tune. Depending on your ECU, pop open the laptop, cell phone app or stand alone tuner device and start making changes, or on some ECU's turn some POTs. Then from there it automatically adjusts for temperature, humidity and altitude. Plus I can use the map switch to change tunes while I'm riding. With the carburetor it's a lot of taking things apart to change jets and move needles, then more changes when the weather changes.
why do you want to slow the car down? I mean is it too much horsepower like if you’re at the track would you slow it down or would you leave it at 2025 hp I mean is that too much for the track
Dynocom is famous for its crappy load holding. Keep the dyno you have and change the dyno controller. Talk to Sportsdevices and say Jerm said you need help.
Looks like that’s only about a 750CFM carb that motor should be running a carb in the 1250cfm or better range carbs are easy to tune you shoulda been a racer in the analog days when the only way to gather data was to film the run and watch it back
2000 with a carburetor, love it...
Awesome work. Most tuners these days couldn't read a plug to save their life and couldn't keep that alive at this level with with full datalogging!
This is what Steve was doing like 20 year ago , I think he actually likes this type.of stuff

@187 Unlimited Racing I think he was hoping to call people out, but he chose the wrong people this time

So cool seeing someone so excited.
44👍's up Steve Morris thanks for having the time for us all with you
Did you see him jumping for joy.. awsum car..
2,000HP will do that to a guy
Nice to see a happy customer. Probably has been threw a lot with it.
That's a badass setup right there. Turbos are fun but nothings better on a street car than a centrifugal blower whistling at idle at a stop light 🤘🏼🤘🏼
@@bigboreracing356 no thanks
@@bigboreracing356 haha i'm just messin man, you have some cool stuff 🤙🏼
Old school baby can’t beat the tried and tested way when the exhaust is your data
That was one happy customer there Steve! 🤣
Steve is probably the best builder/ tuner in the United States. He understands engineering ,design and performance . Thanks spooln272
Nice car , great numbers. Terry must be proud !

Steve your are a master at your trade. I wish I could work side by side with you and soak in all your knowledge. Cheers to you!
He’s happy 😃
Yes I am
That's why his motors on Tom Bailey. Fastest street car in the world. 5.57sec in quarter mile
The hammered effect on the nickel trims are outstanding.
And and good work as usual Steve.

That's a badass setup! Very clean car!
Shwoo! That's a beautiful machine
That's is one of your best ever videos Steve. Soooo nice to see a guy get THAT excited about your hard work and his paying off on the dyno!!!
That's one sweet ride. With 2000 hp she's going to hurt a lot of people's feelings. Great job Steve. Cheers
Not if they have to go around a turn lmao.

That's one bad ass nova.
Something to be said for simplicity
I love the wrinkle trim
Even a basic ECU just on there for data logging would help this guy keep his nice gear in order

Great content thanks for sharing

love mix of the "low tech" stuff into your channel thank you
Awesome

That dream car standers there👍👍
Hot ride

Like the carb deal, but should be e85, nice car
Was that Al Bundy???
In a project like this, what's the advantage of a carburetor over EFI? Is it just the cool factor, or is there a big cost difference, etc.?
Cost, and I believe Steve said this build was from 2014 so technology has come a long way since then, and efi is much easier to tune
Both of your guesses are correct, also some racing leagues ban aftermarket EFI systems

What boost was it to make 2000HP?
30-35 pounds
Who’s carb is it?
Was it just not easier to chuck efi onto it 🤯

Steve has like 30 years working with carbs , thanks for the knowledge behind the keyboard
