@@rossmanmagnus the magicians speak in a code explaining the trick without giving the trick up to the audience and viewers. If you aren't a magician to a certain degree you probably won't get riddles they speak.
A laproscopy is where you have little holes in a patients abdomen to access the inside. In this case it likely means there were holes in the table that would be invisible from that far.
Honestly, the most impressive thing to me about this performance, is being comfortable enough to give Alyson room to do her brilliant comedic things, in a back and forth fashion. Most "comedic" magicians aren't secure enough(or good enough) to be able to go there when on stage. You're legit funny, Erik.
@@anderivativehehe 😊 when he pretends to deal the visible cards, he actually palms them and then drops them in his lap. Then he palms the queen from the lap while holding forward the bill.
Amid all the amusing banter it is easy to miss the fact that this guy is literally making cards disappear and reappear as if by magic! Brilliant! The lovely sparkling Alyson clearly showing here why no one will ever be her equal.
This has to be my favorite act from Penn and Teller that did not fool them. It’s easily in my top 5 favorite acts from the show. Everything was fantastic. You were just so funny and and gave such an incredible performance. That, and you’re obviously no magic slouch. This is such a difficult trick to pull off as seamlessly as you did it. You may not have fooled them, but you gave them what, in my opinion, is one of the better performances from the show.
Happy with myself that I guessed Lennart Green was going to be mentioned in Penn's code. Never been able to do that before, but Green is so amazing that I recognized the influence. Wonderful performance!
I just saw your FISM version of this act, and I felt like you've improved even more from this performance. The arm and hand placement was, imo, much natural and better. Well done!
A shill wins with the bent corner and the public notices. In round 3, even if U bet on which is NOT the queen (cause there is no queen), you will not get very far from the table when the gang (of 10) will do horrible things to get their money back and scatter. Wanna have some fun, shout a word during the game and they think it is their lookout reporting seeing a cop. Poof; Table on the ground and only the public is standing there. (Have your wallet in your front pocket when standing around.)
"Are you sure you don't have any of that Buffy money laying around?" Hilarious! Well played lol!!! Hearing a Buffy reference made my day lol!! Such a great routine! How'd the freakin cards disappear??? 😳😵💫😲
Something about the routine, the way you held your hands at the table, and the general lack of ambiguity made it very clear when the moves had to happen, and therefore made it clear when they did happen. The controls are done well, but you could probably stand to find a way to get your dirty work done at a less obvious time
Great presentation & trick. It's great you brought Lennart Green. One of my favorite magicians. Also choice on the background on stage. Definitely one of my favorites too
Seen you on FISM and Penguin! Great moves! Lennart Green was the first magician I truly loved. Hearing the shout out there made me so happy! Great performance!
That was really well done, the only time I saw any of what happened was the last switch, That one was fast and almost perfect but just enough that if you are looking for the sleight that you can catch it. I almost missed it because it was very smooth, I'm thinking from Penn and Tellers seat it wouldn't even be visible, the camera angle there may have done you dirty a bit. That said I really enjoyed that performance, even knowing exactly what it was, it's always delightful to see a skillful execution of a trick
“Dr Lennart Green”. Actually a doctor! I knew what you were doing, but it looks so much like *real magic*, I wasn’t mad they weren’t fooled. 😊 wonderful patter, Erik. 😊
Really nice performance. I saw a little something at 2:20 the first time through (which made the immediate, subsequent disappearance that much better)but I guess with cards that is to be expected when you're looking for things. Overall an outstanding effort.
I've heard of beer money, but not 'beard' money! I think the coded explanations given by Penn are great. The performer knows whether Penn and Teller really know how the act worked, without giving anything away to the audience to spoil it.
nice clean sleight of hand, even tho i knew when you're swapping and hiding cards, i didn't actually see any of it. like when you made cards disappear, i knew you had them in your right hand and pushed them over the edge of table, but it was impossible to see from that camera angle. nice performance.
I loved, and this is a guess, that you never expected to fool them. You wanted exposure and to provide entertainment as well as demonstrating mastery of a very difficult sleight. Very similar to Daniel Madison's reasoning when he was on the show. Bravo sir.
Oh yeah. I didn’t really think I could fool them. I wanted the experience. This show put me on the path to a successful career in magic, so I very much won in every sense apart from fooling them.
As a veteran internet backseat magic critique, i love this routine. Esp the money spawning from the beard, as a beardy gentleman myselt, i ought to learn this one. The rest of the trick just looked easy so it's ok, i'll pretend i understood what was going on.
First time seeing Penn trying to sabotage a performance by deliberately choosing a different position for the queen (in the second step) after seeing the queen (as we all did) in the central position. Was he trying to challenge the magician or to communicate that he spotted the slight of hand? In any case, good comeback by Eric.
I honestly don’t think he was trying to sabotage me. I think that I hadn’t figured to scripting out the way it is now and he was deliberately acting like a lay person.
You didn't fool me; I know you didn't really have one hundred dollars. haha seriously though, I think I know some of what went on there, but I can't figure out the whole thing even after multiple viewings. Good work.
You talking back to Penn in code and making him laugh SO hard was probably as hard as this amazing trick. Congratulations on both achievements!
What's the code? i don't get it

Penn nailed it when he said how unique Erik's style is. So fun to watch!
And Alyson nailing the sound effect
I can't get enough of the moment where you're dealing the invisible cards. It's such a great effect.
Yeah this was pretty entertaining.
I love it when I know it's sleight of hand, but I can't see a trace of it. It really looks like magic! And I just want to be fooled some more.

You didnt watch close enough.. I knew how it was done befor eit was over
Ill respectfully say, if there is one thing a magician really needs to work on is making their hands seem natural when palming cards.

Wow the lennart green snap deal/lazer deal was perfect love it
I love seeing Teller's face when somebody straight up impresses him.
Wow.. I have never seen the invisible card trick done so smoothly. Nice!

Your slight of hand is absolutely incredible. I rewatched and you did it so fast yet so smoothly.
This was so clean, just flawless and this is why no one should ever play 3 card monte in a street game; ever 😂

Just a fabulous trick, it was such fun to see and you are so gifted in sleight of hand, an extraordinary performance.
I know the goal is to fool them, but sometimes I think just entertaining them in a unique way could be worth just as much.
Agreed
Definitely agreed.
I’ve seen Erik do this live. He is so much fun to watch, and the routine is awesome. Fantastic work!
Excellent slight of hand. I liked the invisible card step and the switching of cards in one hand. Smooth act. Enjoyed.

Loved the act from the moment you said "that can academically prove that I'm hilarious." Great performance all around Erik!
I've never smiled so much when a trick came to a close. Really impressive work dude, perfect balance between dry humour and actual wonder.
This is great! I get that it's slight of hand, but I love that I can't see anything or figure it out really, it looks so real and natural!
Insane how much better this act got between Fool Us and FISM 2022
Yeah. FISM will do that to a thing. You should see me live when I am not insanely nervous.

That back and forth between Penn & Tait was iconic. This coded language should be called, "PennLatin".
