Great to see Drew back on the Channel! The pointing finish looks bang on too! Nice and flush like it's never been touched, I'm my option, the best finish for an old house like this. Great work gentlemen
See that’s what sets a tradesmen apart …one who is prepared to takeover from a cowboy but one who also considers that it was Remembrance Sunday and no noisy stuff that day! Most wouldn’t have cared! Izzy a real pro! Looks very good - did the waste pipe get filled around?!
Just stumbled across your channel a few months back while looking for tips on building my own garage. Honestly your a top human being! There are very few people who would do this. You deserve all the success possible. Keep up the videos, I’m a regular watcher now! 👍❤️
Great to see Drew back. When I served in Hong Kong alongside the Marines, the saying went, when they got up for work " Twice round the world GO!" . Real friendly bunch. Great vid fella, kudos to you guys.🍻
Great video Fellas! Would be good to see the final video of this job! You should try and get Drew back more on the weekends..if thats possible...i bet hes busy with work and looking for that apprentship during the week though! Lovely finish on the pointing too..feeling the bromance lol
SUPERMAN AND HIS SIDEKICK TO THE RESCUE AGAIN (i know superman dosnt have a sidekick) but i couldnt think of anything else that would fit. Great work Izzy and Drew you really are both great people offering to help those that have suffered from those bad people who just take as much money as they can moving on to the next victim leaving behind a great mess to fix.
Bond a block in dry that way ya don't have to worry about getting the compo colour right (we use ready mix) and if the labourer on site is good he can piece it on on the pre board
Another good job izzy takes me back i helped my brother to repoint a gable end had to rake it out with the end of a file it was good to work with someone you get on with see you in the next one izzy simon
hi izzy and drew nice to see people like you sorting out the cowboys one comment, will you be pointing up the huge hole around the waste pipe ? im sure that will allow water ingress massively ? .Just a thought guys
Get yourself a extractor and a hoover and attach to you’re grinder with a mortar rake attachment. Be cut out in half the time with no dust. Lovely job though 👍🏼
@@IzzytheBricky hi, ah yes. Do you cover the pointing up with Hessian? Are you not worried about the frosts? What's your thoughts on using nhl this time of year, cheers mate
Hi Issy, we've just had builders try a repointing job on the house. Sadly they turned out to be cowboys. My query now is solely focused on what is the right mortar to mix, to finish the area not currently worked on at the back. Query, type of mortar and strength for property described below. I think an N-type (1 in 5, or 1 in 6 ratio). What ratio of sharp to building sand should be used on the property below please? For a period engineering brick house thats 90 years old. The mortar appears to be a light cream/ beige in colour with few small 2-6mm pebbles and white flect inclusions. As its an early 1930's property I'm assuming the white inclusions are hydrated lime or lime chippings, or chalk?. It fizzed when we put a bit in distilled vinegar, but not excessively. The mortar is rock hard and not disintegrating but has recessed (possibly due to weather or bad past inconsistent rake out. It has a few defects of brick adhesion loss and holes from old nails. I understand the colour is from the sand type used. So a portland cement, with hydrated lime or lime chippings(?). Light coloured sand, not red building sand. Based in Yorkshire so a bit far for you for such a little job to finish I assume. Not sure what to do about the front of the house as it was minimally raked out (inconsistently). They quickly covered it up with a shallow 4:1 grey cement. It's truly awful, but think it's best to tackle that next Spring due to seasonal weather.
Hiya mate, alot to unpack there. Would you like to send me a few pictures over via email, and I can figure out a little more from that? Izzythebricky@hotmail.com If it's not too far. We can always have a look for you, spring time? Your correct having a weaker mix though, and just ant sharp sand will do. Send though some pictures on email or Instagram and we can have a chat/ give you some guidance
It's about time Drew stops pretending to chase other avenues of intellect and admits he's a Tradie at heart. Tradesman can be intelugent anorl ya knorr 🙄🤣🤣
I hate seeing people screwed over by cowboys, so glad you boys were able to rescue the day 👍🏻👍🏻
Cheers dude!

Great to see you and Drew working tonight, hopefully he comes and finishes the job next week?
He'll be back, don't you worry!
Great work
I think a lot of people would have appreciated you weren't grinding on Rememberence Sunday, great consideration 👍.
People think builders are inconsiderate, but we're really not 😊...besides a little dust haha
Guess who’s back, back again 👏🏻

Top man for doing that izzy
i was just watching cowboy builders in australia , whats the odds , nice
Thanks dude! Hope your well!
well done boys,
Great job mate
Thanks Ian, hope your well and had a great weekend
The old team is back, wondered what happened Drew.
And now the traditional Dutch "knipvoeg" pointing.
How do can you tell if the original mortar was lime or sand and cement?
Has he changed his socks? Good to have ya back drewster
I bloody hope so mate haha we were talking about that haha
if all the morta is pritty much gone ,how much is it safe to grind out before the wall is compromised ,
Excellent. Has Drew thought of REME (Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers), or engineer on RAF or RN jets? Or, film maker, too
Mate, really good shout, I'll pass that info on...he would make a great videographer haha

Every time I consider it, I don't have a grinding out job..so don't wanna fork out 800 quid. They're so few and far between nowadays for me
When was this video shot?

@@IzzytheBricky hi, ah yes. Do you cover the pointing up with Hessian? Are you not worried about the frosts? What's your thoughts on using nhl this time of year, cheers mate
It’s a bit late in the year for lime. Any heavy frost in the first 2-3 months and it will blow!
I've done it in much colder, it's definitely been fine before. The house is still wrapped up now...I hope haha
Whats your thoughts on Thompsons water seal m8? Great to see Drew again
I've never used it to be honest with you mate. My option, all houses need to breathe
Drew doing the hard part 👍
Y'know it! Gotta make sure he's still grafting!
Top job boys, from an old brickie
Cheers Pete! Have a great week dude!
Random question but what editing app do you use for your videos mate I’m currently using GoPro quick. But finding it bit basic
