They put literally everything into these ads, but the game is literally just merging random things to get to the next area. It's just so weird. Also why is the grandma hinted to be some type of murderer? Honestly I'm invested in this storyline.
The second live action ad is such a great concept for a parody horror movie oh my god. Sorry to be that person, but wasn't that the 3rd ad and not the 2nd? The 2nd one had the statues, and the first had the knives. The 3rd was the knitting one. Unless I missed something? Lol
The mystery is "what's grandma hiding?" Is Because she keeps exposing everything about herself. So like, it's really hard to figure out what she would actually try to hide from us.
Honestly grandma has nailed it. When you're old and you've got nothing to lose, might as well commit multiple murder. A life sentence wouldn't be as scary when you're 80.
@@Sproutgoodnight1161 prove to me that hell actually exists, and then i'll take this threat seriously. until then, i'm with OP. life sentence for mass murder isn't so bad if i'm already gonna die in like 2 years anyway lol.
At the end of the knitting ad, Grandma was knitting something yellow. However, it couldn’t be another grandma decoy because she doesn’t wear any yellow. Who does wear yellow? The main girl. Grandma was knitting a decoy granddaughter for some nefarious purpose.
The joke in the first ad is that in the game you "merge" items together to get new items, so in the game it would be completely normal to have a bunch of knives stored in your shed. Also explains the "so many knives, so little time" line that maybe eludes to how long it take to merge stuff or whatever idk
I can't believe I totally forgot about the game being a "merge" game and didn't even CONSIDER this. That's genuinely clever compared to all these other "is grandma a MURDERER!?"-themed ads.
I wanna see Danny get sponsored by merge mansion, then create an equally impressive ad for his sponsorship, just like these and like his music videos. I would love to see that honestly
yeah exactly! its like, how can they not see at this point that their true talent lies in someone's directorial eye that makes their ads. the game looks like some cheap same-old shit, but these ads tho...
If they fixed up their gameplay and reinvented the game, I feel like this could actually be a really good game. Make it story based, and include different kinds of puzzles. I’m not a huge fan of the “Hello Neighbor” games, but I could see this working in that style.
Okay, so I am actually obsessed with this game these days… and tbh that first ad made so much sense with actual game. If you merge 2 knives together you get a rake, and the grid that you have to play on is reminiscent of the shed’s tool board in the ad. That being said… these ads as a whole are a weird fever dream for sure. The evil grandmother theme is pretty random for a mind numbing procrastination app. Also love the channel, & I am proud to be Greg!
Damn!!! So disappointed! I was totally gonna ask if anyone who actually put the time in to play it for real could tell us if these had any validity! What a disappointment lol
I kinda love the game. Although I did stop playing when the grind for leveling up and unlocking new content became too much. The ads make no sense, but they must earn a shitton of money with this game to make this live action movie ad
3:06 so is anyone gonna tell us why she's wearing the prettiest gloves I've ever seen for gardening or...? there are bigger questions than the knives guys
I love how Danny says: “You can only kill one person at a time.” Soooooooo confidently, as if he had some sort of first-hand-experience on the subject☠️
There is such a solid community with these games, honestly. My mom has a whole Bridge Club-esqu group of international friends she's in the same team/clan as on _June's Journey,_ chatting on their Facebook group ALL the time. It's actually been really comforting for her during the pandemic. she personally never spent a DIME on free-to-play games, but other people definitely have and their ad revenue must be HUGE. I can see how games like this have their own profitable demographic. This probably sounds like an ad, but it's not I swear.
I HAD SEEN the live action pie one a few days ago! Watching ads on a mobile game to get free things, and then it hit me. It confused me so hard. ALSO: for that last animated ad, grandma put a file into the pie she was baking. Then it seems like she got arrested later that same day, and asked that the pie be brought to her while she was in jail. She knew she was going to get arrested, and baked a pie beforehand with her escape plan. Idk how Danny didn't get that EDIT: Sorry !! I was just surprised that he wrote it off so quickly, since this was Grandma's first appearance in actual jail. He just said it was boring, which is understandable after having gone through the live action ones that are much more exciting. But there was still something there!
My theory is that the box has the words” made with love and secrets” Maybe the people were horrified at the secrets words. She then opens the box and they are all screaming. I think it’s a head. Maybe the granddaughter gathered her grandma’s old friends to show them what she send from prison. When the people see it they are shocked cuz the trauma of having a horrifying and sociopath friend made them scared. They then see a head and maybe it had the words-“ ur next” making them scared. The grandma is behind them now? So I think she escaped and the friends are all scared at seeing grandma from jail to back in normal society
I'm just so happy that Cathy Bates decided to do these ads. This is a great way to get 2022 started. I actually play a lot of these types of games to wind down while watching something, and it's surprising that I've never actually SEEN a Merge Mansion ad anywhere but Danny's videos. If I didn't already download like four matching/hidden object games right now, I'd probably get this one just to see how weird it gets.
There's not much there, it's good for mindless gameplay but you always have to keep updating for the different seasonal games and they don't give you the option not to :/
Just btw as someone who has played merge mansion for years now, the whole mystery thing is pretty much a lie. Even if you wanted to get to the ‘secret’ areas, you would need to get to level 43, which is literally impossible at this point in the game. I have absolutely ran out of things to do in the game, and need over 50,000 more XP to get to the next unlock-able area. Overall it’s a pretty good game, with nice events and a variety of options to merge. But if you’re just looking to find out what the hell ‘grandma is hiding’ then you’re out of luck.
I like it the way it is. They started making those special events, which helps level up faster. There was a Halloween one, a butterfly one, a Christmas one and now there's a strong one. I'm getting loads of XP from that.
8:37 I don't know if it's intentional but the fact she's knitting something yellow is kind of concerning when you notice that she isn't wearing anything yellow but the granddaughter is
They need to give their marketing team a raise, a vacation and their first born children. They know what they are doing. I’m not gonna lie… I’m invested even though I’m still not sure what the game is about.
2:00 to be fair Danny, serial killers aren’t the most understandable people, there’s probably some weird reason behind it. Maybe it’s some kind of victor Zasz situation, he cuts himself for every kill, and she only uses one knife per person or something
I was kinda into that game in past and the knife shed is actually kinda funny inside joke :D It's one of the first items mergable, so you mostly have full inventory of knives waiting for more energy to merge them
When danny did the last merge mansion video i downloaded it as a joke and at some point it started religiously playing it so i genuinely laughed when the garage was full of green knives since In the game merging items is most of the gameplay and knives are one of the lower ranked items so you tend to have a lot of them.
tbh if merge mansion made a movie i'd pay some good money to watch it bc the production quality is amazing, the story is entertaining, and the actors are great
I think the first one is more accurate to the game, you have a certain amount of energy “time” to merge different tools to make new ones, one of the first tools you start with is a green handled knife that you can merge into other garden tools up to a rake. So according to the game, there is a rake in there, you just gotta tape all those knifes together
please let the premise of the movie be that grandma is a super cartooney, overtop murder and it's super obvious. However, everyone is super clueless and it takes the main characters an absurdly long time to figure it out.
So my theory about the Merge Mansion Cinematic Universe is that she has those disposable knives to cut pies. She kept her pie business a secret for some unknown reason. And the "blood" on her smock at the end is actually pie filling.
I mean this is weird. They clearly have the budget so why is their game so idk, boring? If they wanted to they could make a really compelling, interesting game like June's journey (it's the first game that came to mind lol). Looking at these live-action ads I feel like they got the characters and house looking spot on, so I would actually be interested in watching a spin-off movie. Maybe one that could explain all the ads or something. Idk if they are making these ads only for attention or smth but even so, they could have just stuck to the normal animated ads?? this is a mystery in and of itself lol
They're getting much more attention with the live action ads, enhanced by the fact that they have a recognizable actor in them. More attention, more people playing the game, better numbers for them. But they don't need to actually make the game interesting because, as with pretty much all mobile games, the ads are where it's really at
The knife one makes a lot of sense to me because I actually play this game. You merge them together and eventually get the rake. And you can only use an item once in game then it vanishes.
i feel like the idea of a secret murder mistery type game hidden within a generic mobile game is super interesting and i wish merge mansion was that and it wasnt just the ads unless we all are missing a secret or something
I feel like the game has started to lean more in that direction with the grandma. Especially with the storyline of the Christmas event they did. But the story in these games moves so unbelievably slowly that it almost doesn't matter
This is probably not what they intended, but if you merge two knives in the game, you get one rake. And in the game, all items are single-use only. YES I KINDA PLAY IT OK I GOT A DOG OUT OF A WELL AND NOW ITS MY FRIEND. EDIT: Also, the "mysteries" in the game itself are just kinda cutesy old stories from the mansion's history. There's like a Tiki bar on the beach that they tell you how the owner used to be a surfer, but when he married the heiress to the mansion, he couldn't surf anymore, so he invented skateboards. That's the "mystery" for that section of the game. EDIT2: Oh, and the animated one... she baked a file into the pie. It implies she knew she would get arrested and so she made it so she could escape.
Okay, making an ad that portrays a sinister situation only for it to turn out to be really innocent once you play the game is actually brilliant marketing.
A few days ago my dad came into my room and asked what merge mansion was, he thought it was a movie or something and got really disappointed when I told him it was a phone game.
I feel like grandma is just sending out a cry for help through her self-sabotaging behavior. She's deliberately alerting people to all of her murdery secrets through sending her granddaughter to the garage, revealing her secret passageways, putting a head in that pie because she wants people to realize she's a murderer possibly out of guilt of being a murderer, the self-destructive and compulsive nature of her killing, or general self-sabotaging behavior applied to her rather quirky murder goals.
Despite those weird ads, Merge Mansion is actually a good game. It has nothing to do with a grandma murderer at all. You basically have to unlock different parts of the house, kinda like homescapes
i have three theories for the knife one and no clue why i came up with them, but i’ll share them: 1.the knives are trophies and those where already used to kill people before 2. the knives are her signature, like how serial killers sometimes have like a certain way they kill and/or leave the victims, those specific knives are how she kills her victims and maybe she leaves the knives at each crime scene 3. she just collects that make of knife because she thinks they’re cool and they have little to nothing to do with the murderous tendencies
I find this game genuinely enjoyable. A lot of the time it’s just mindless but when you complete quests and unlock dialogue it’s generally pretty good. Plus they’ve had a fair amount of specials events which have been good. The customer service for the game has also been pretty great, in the last event something was broken so they just kept gifting you supplies instead.
she obviously gets a new knife every kill, she keeps the old ones as tokens . common serial killer psychology
That was my idea too but instead I thought it was her signature in a murder.

Honestly grandma has nailed it. When you're old and you've got nothing to lose, might as well commit multiple murder. A life sentence wouldn't be as scary when you're 80.

Okay, so I am actually obsessed with this game these days… and tbh that first ad made so much sense with actual game.
Idk how Danny didn't get that

When you’re more excited about merge mansion ads than some actual movies
Making the ads live action immerses you into the lore even further lol
There should be an iceberg
My theory is that the box has the words” made with love and secrets”
Maybe the people were horrified at the secrets words. So I think she escaped and the friends are all scared at seeing grandma from jail to back in normal society
omg I love your pfp komasan and komajiro are my favouritessss
To bad the game isn’t really about the lore
I'm just so happy that Cathy Bates decided to do these ads. This is a great way to get 2022 started. I actually play a lot of these types of games to wind down while watching something, and it's surprising that I've never actually SEEN a Merge Mansion ad anywhere but Danny's videos. If I didn't already download like four matching/hidden object games right now, I'd probably get this one just to see how weird it gets.
do you have any recommendations for these type of games?
I just realized that I've never seen one of these ads except Danny's videos either 🤔
@@KikiChan_007 lucky 😭 I get them all the time
I wonder how much money they had to give to Kathy to do these ads

I think the first one is more accurate to the game, you have a certain amount of energy “time” to merge different tools to make new ones, one of the first tools you start with is a green handled knife that you can merge into other garden tools up to a rake. So according to the game, there is a rake in there, you just gotta tape all those knifes together

So my theory about the Merge Mansion Cinematic Universe is that she has those disposable knives to cut pies. She kept her pie business a secret for some unknown reason. And the "blood" on her smock at the end is actually pie filling.
But why did she get arrested?
Pies were criminally delicious

I mean this is weird. They clearly have the budget so why is their game so idk, boring? If they wanted to they could make a really compelling, interesting game like June's journey (it's the first game that came to mind lol). Looking at these live-action ads I feel like they got the characters and house looking spot on, so I would actually be interested in watching a spin-off movie. Maybe one that could explain all the ads or something. Idk if they are making these ads only for attention or smth but even so, they could have just stuck to the normal animated ads?? this is a mystery in and of itself lol
RIGHT
They just put the least amount of effort into the game they can while still making a shit ton of money capitalism baby
The ads are probably made by an ad agency, it makes more sense for one to invest in sets and post production
I agree. I got bored of the game immediately
They're getting much more attention with the live action ads, enhanced by the fact that they have a recognizable actor in them. More attention, more people playing the game, better numbers for them. But they don't need to actually make the game interesting because, as with pretty much all mobile games, the ads are where it's really at
These actors fit the characters better than the ones in the Avatar The Last Airbender live action movie.
The knife one makes a lot of sense to me because I actually play this game. You merge them together and eventually get the rake. And you can only use an item once in game then it vanishes.

i feel like the idea of a secret murder mistery type game hidden within a generic mobile game is super interesting and i wish merge mansion was that and it wasnt just the ads
unless we all are missing a secret or something
I feel like the game has started to lean more in that direction with the grandma. Especially with the storyline of the Christmas event they did. But the story in these games moves so unbelievably slowly that it almost doesn't matter
A trailer has been released for maybe a movie merge mansion (?) and literally PEDRO PASCAL is playing in it, PEDRO PASCAL
Ahh, it makes sense now! Thanks for explaining!
that makes the ad make so much sense! you gotta know some lore to get them I guess lmao
Okay, making an ad that portrays a sinister situation only for it to turn out to be really innocent once you play the game is actually brilliant marketing.

1.the knives are trophies and those where already used to kill people before
2. the knives are her signature, like how serial killers sometimes have like a certain way they kill and/or leave the victims, those specific knives are how she kills her victims and maybe she leaves the knives at each crime scene
3. she just collects that make of knife because she thinks they’re cool and they have little to nothing to do with the murderous tendencies
if its 3 then +respect for gma
In the game when you combine the knives you get a rake
in the game, knives merge to create rakes
