For anyone who hasn't played FF13 (I have), I can confirm that this is honestly accurate. There's seriously only one open-area map in all of FF13 - every other map is just hallways.
Well, FF XV is open world, and proves a game doesn't need to be GTA to be open world. FF VII (both original and Remake) and't exaclty hallway either. I played older FF's (1, 2, 3, 4) none of them is hallway. So, yes, of course we expect a game not to be hallway. Even for RPG. Even for JRPG.

It's a real corridor in an otherwise forgettable part of the game. When you go to the Obelisk the first time you have to go through a back entrance of Nihilo, that's where it is

You can tell that Atlus was faithful to the classic megaten games by adding a mini World of Sloth.

I really liked FFXIII, and it has its highs and its lows... and let's say the map designs deserve the second category 😩
