I do absolutely concur to previous statements. Veldhoven is really becoming my Bach reference, the new standard. Outstanding dynamic phrasing. I noticed this the first time in St Matthews Sind Blitze und Donner in Wolken verschwunden : the crescendi the choir puts on “Hölle” and “Wut”. Here bass and tenor go even further in shifting from a strong start to a kind of decrescendo to then re-Crescendo again on the word “Bann”, creating an incredible suspense in order to the resolve and proceed further, thus creating an irresistible flow and musical narrative. And I can’t get enough of this perfect articulation in choir, recitativi and areas, so cool, precise and dramatic. Next the sounds passed from the controlled and precise choir on to the most homogeneously playing orchestra and back. Everything is done with so much transparency and attention to detail, everything serving to evoking a musical plot. It’s so fresh and inspiring. I don’t miss any new offering. Bravissimo! Keep going, please !
I keep coming back to this Cantata over the last days for this miraculous initial Tenor and Bass duet - they’re so tremendously listening to each other, creeping figuratively one into another’s tones, sculpturing a twisting reach & retreat suspense, unheard before. A true revelation.
Impossibly radiant music, so moving and so much solemn joy. I love watching the faces of the soloists and envy the pleasure they so obvious take in the music that they are making. What a gift!
All these are just superbly sung and played - and filmed. I wish I'd been able to listen to this choir a few years ago when I was a member of three choirs. Also I've found that they make a great background to pedalling on my exercise cycle!
Cantata for Exaudi 1. 1. Aria (Duet) T B They will put you under banishment. 2. (John 16:2) 2. Chorus But the time will come when whoever kills you will think that he does God a service by it. 3. 3. Aria A Christians must be true disciples of Christ on earth. They wait for Him at all times, until they happily undergo martyrdom, exile, and bitter pain. 4. Chorale T Ah, God, how much heartache do I encounter at this time! The narrow path is full of trouble that I shall follow to heaven. 5. 5. Recitative B The Antichrist, the great monster, seeks with sword and fire to persecute the members of Christ, since their teachings are against him. He makes it appear that his deeds must be pleasing to God. However, Christians must resemble palm fronds, which, when laden, only climb higher. 6. 6. Aria S It is and remains the comfort of Christians, that God watches over His church. For even though the storms rage, yet after the winds of trouble the sun of joy soon smiled. 7. ("In allen meinen Taten," verse 9) 7. Chorale Therefore take hold of yourself, my soul, and trust only in Him who has created you; Let it go how it goes; your Father in the heights knows the wisdom of all matters.
Wolkowy1. Because Wim Winters has shadowbanned me, I need to tell you this below others videos. I want to tell you about simple logic. Wim Winters explains Smart’s durations by often dropping certain movements in a symphony. But look at Winters’s and Sanna’s performances of Bethoven’s 5th, they have two versions, one lasting 1 hour, and the other 56 minutes. Smart’s durations range between 27 and 31 minutes. 30 minutes become half of 1 hour. But what about 27 minutes versus 56 minutes? The slow movement was performed a little faster than we are used to today. In this way, Winters and Sanna prove that Smart’s four performances included all four movements. In other words - Smart performed the 5th in single beat tempi. Gadient and Winters are wrong!
Forgive the importunate question, but where does the organist sit? I've been trying to figure that out for a couple of years now. Typically, he'd be up in the loft, close to the pipes, but the camera shows him in a better-lit area than that and when he looks upon the director he looks straight-line, and not down, seemingly.
It must be a mistake. 16 April 2020 is today, and they couldn't have possibly released a recording made on the same day. I sure hope the live performance, with live audience, was made and recorded long enough ago, and that everybody is safe.
@@JameSongMaker You mean 2,537 watched it today? Well, it's possible since all the comments are from today! Hooray, Bach seems to have made it to the Top Ten!

@Malakai Jad Flixportal
@Torin Ace thanks, I signed up and it seems like a nice service =) I appreciate it !!
@Malakai Jad Glad I could help =)
Fantastiskt framförande särskilt bravo till sopranen Maria Keohane!🎉
I so enjoy watching Maria Keohane perform. She is so involved in her performance ! Not just her voice, but her face and whole body express the music!

Das ist es auch!
12:20 - DELICIOUS!!!!!! superb, regal, stately tempo, dynamics and phrasing... and Keohane's voice... ahhhh

Gracias Sociedad Bach!.
!Viva Jesús que ha resucitado!
Bach did master the Baroque/ Classical/ Romantic Music.
Sacred and Secular. His music can be played with almost every instrument.
Beautiful consort work. Bravo Bach! Thanks for uploading and sharing. ❤️👼🎼🎵🎶👏🇮🇪☘️

I totally agree with notaire2's comment here below. I could not phrase it better. Thanks so much for uploading this unique Cantata and performance.

The organist is playing a tracker organ, up at the pipes. The wall behind him is the back end of the ruckpositiv, which is the lowest set of pipes.

@@JameSongMaker Indeed, but if you read the description (at least as it was when I commented), it gives today as the date of *recording*.
They changed it, perhaps, to say that it was recorded February 10, 2018.

Volgens mij staat de opname datum in de beschrijving verkeerd.
The counter tenor and bass soloists need to tone down the excessive vibrato. This is not Verdi.

No need to apologize. I am sorry...for you!
