      No. I was one, 64 years ago. It is the best possible experience you can have, in particular the once unknown music that has been discovered in that time, the breathtaking evolution of interpretation and instrumental technique that has taken place, the awareness that you acquire of subtleties that don't exist in any other form of music, and those one-off occasions that make musical history (for me the first public performance of Bach's 2nd Brandenburg on original instruments, the first concert performance of Weber's Euryanthe). In Bach and Mozart you have the two composers who knew how to get the utmost out of the human voice. Once in a while singers come along who can match the challenges that they set (watch out for South Africa). E.C.

    Wunderschöne und lebhafte Aufführung dieser perfekt komponierten Kirchenkantate mit gut harmonisierten Stimmen des ausgezeichneten Chors und herrlichen Stimmen vierer genialen Solisten sowie gut vereinigten und perfekt entsprechenden Tönen aller Originalinstrumente. Der intelligente und unvergleichliche Violinist/Dirigent leitet das ebenso ausgezeichnete Barockensemble im veränderlichen Tempo und mit künstlerisch kontrollierter Dynamik. Wunderbar vom Anfang bis zum Ende!

    So sei nun, Seele, deine My soul, accept God wholly,
    Und traue dem alleine, And simply trusting only
    Der dich geschaffen hat Him who created you,
    Es gehe, wie es gehe, Endure what you are given;

    • @herrickinman9303
      @herrickinman9303 Год назад +2

      I couldn't find the anecdote in the Obituary. But I did find this in a letter to Forkel by CPE Bach in 1774:
      "As the greatest expert and judge of harmony, [J.S. Bach] liked best to play the viola, with appropriate loudness and softness. In his youth, and until the approach of old age, he played the violin clearly and penetratingly, and thus kept the orchestra in better order than he could have done with the harpsichord."

      @herrickinman9303 Год назад +2

      @Tadeáš Zoubek In fact, this is what C.P.E. Bach related to Forkel in a letter dated 1774:
      "As the greatest expert and judge of harmony, [J.S. Bach] liked best to play the viola, with appropriate loudness and softness. In his youth, and until the approach of old age, he played the violin clearly and penetratingly, and thus kept the orchestra in better order than he could have done with the harpsichord."
