That is one of the greatest interviews so far. Wirra is an absolute star and I don't throw that term around lightly. Genuine great bloke having a chat and the world needs more of it. Great work gents..
One of the best backchats yet , loved wirra as a player and seems like a ripper bloke off field as well , I honesty laughed so much during this interview , great stuff
When I was a young fella I flew to Melbourne to watch a game and met all the players at a function . Out of all the players there Wirra was the only one who actually gave a shit when I asked for an autograph and photo. He spent 10 mins talking to me about how to launch barrels, all done with a smile on his face. 20 years later I still haven’t forgotten that. Onya wirra!!
what a man. left a crazy impact not only on the field but off it too. multiple generations of eagles fans will be forever grateful wirra! what a podcast 💙💛
What a great watch. I watched Wirra play against my brother in juniors and he tore it up. Followed his career ever since. Insane ability and wasn't surprised he had the career he did. Spewin as a saints fan that he was so close to playing with us.
Someone has to have the footage when he won tool of the week on before the game years back. It was after his 150th he got interviewed and was asked what it meant beating Richmond and he replied ‘Oh yeah well ahhh their the tigers’ 😂
I played for Armadale Demons growing up, When we would do a 1 hand pick up, You would say his name...Like shooting a basketball and saying Kobe, we yell "Wirra" has you come through and snatch it. Based alot of the game of this man, what a legend. Mr. 1 hand pick up
Now that Schoey's back in the West Coast lineup, it's time to bring back the Wirrapanda, Kerr, Cox and Judd dream team. Give Benny a bag and he'll be up for anything
It's sad what happened to Simmo but it's even sadder what happens to so many footy players and I don't mean only WCE but the game in general. Now, looking at WCE - Cousins, Mainwaring,Chick, Kerr etc. the list goes on. These guys have ONE talent only and have developed that ONE talent. Very few develop other talents in their lives. If you look at many school leavers, they've the potential or have several talents whether it's reading, writing, arithmetic and then followed by logic. How many times have we all sat at pubs listening to some old guy (has been?) who maybe has a decent fortune put away but nothing else to talk about except back when... in my time... in the good old days etc. They don't read books, they've no hobbies, no social skills and just drift aimlessly from one divorce to another, one girlfriend to another and in some cases, one drug to another. "Oh yeah, we used to go down to the Paddo" says one, "Remember when we did so and so at the Penthouse" says another , "Benny used to call me Nelson" says another. Can they change a lightbulb, read a book, have any aspect of personality except hang out with one group and then drift on to another group and drift on to another hoping experts will look after their money. Sports figures the world over do little to develop other aspects of their personality, luckily in the US things have changed for a few though - look at Shaq, Jordan etc. But in small town Perth, it's just looking at the past, never completing projects and drifting from one incomplete project to another. HOpefully that'll change and is changing but for others it may be too late. Wise words or just all talk? Has David Wirrpanda ever FINISHED anything to completion or succesful completion apart from footy? Whatever happened to the Wirrpanda Foundation - did it sink without a trace? Yeah right. Did it really accomplish anything? Whatever happened to Wirrpanda in Dancing with the Stars? Oh yes, he dropped out of it because he had to look after the Wirrpanda Foundation? The first contestant to quit in the show's history. Yeah right. Whatever happened to him on the Dead Set Legends radio show where he propogated a racial stereotype about how Aboriginals run away from paying the fare at the end of a taxi journey. Yeah right. Whatever happened to his political career where he lost the election? Did he stay on in politics and fight or did he drop without a trace? He lost and I haven't heard of him since in political circles. Yeah right. Going through a bitter divorce, Tindering away drifting and getting dumped by one woman after another. Surely he doesn't believe if he had a white girlfriend his life would be better? In 2015 Wirrpanda was caught drunk driving recording a reading of 0.154, more than three times the legal limit. In court he was found guilty of driving under the influence, fined $900 and lost his driver's licence for 10 months. Great footballer but that's all he was.
One of the best interviews you guys have had. What a bloke, could literally listen to him all day long
I could listen to Wirra talk all day. Loved the chat about Woosha too - please get Woosh on!!

You need to give more coverage to this again. Such a good interview.
How do they not give a leading goal kicker award. That needs to be rectified asap.

What a ripping bloke Wirra is
Sorry havnt had a chance to listen yet .. but is Wirra the only 16yr old ever to be drafted?
Pretty sure, Ben Cousins was same age at same time.
He was a fiery competitor with his heart in the right place. But that's in the past. Where is he now? Where are all the past footy players now?
