John Beresford - I hope you read this comment. Absolute fantastic player. However after listening to this interview. Absolute fantastic human being. God bless you and your family.
Another brilliant one, thank you guys. Remember Beresford in that brilliant Newcastle team that Keegan had. Comes across as a really good guy. Excellent work as per usual.
Absolutely love this . Been having a shit time for the last few months and at least for an hour a week I can laugh my head off because of this podcast . Keep it up fellas .
Great as always but some of Bezs memory has gone. We beat Antwerp 5 nil not Bruges in the first UEFA cup game under Keegan. Bobby was manager after Gullit not Dalglish and a lasagne is less than 7.99 in unos now amongst have been under a fiver in 1995 ;)
Anybody who doesn't know of Brian "Killer" Kilcline, just go and search for photos of him, and you'll see what John means of his long hair, tash and beard, hard looking player but, but was a rock at the back in his playing days. Great show again lads, just keep 'em coming.
I remember Brian from school days in Nottingham. At under 12s he was already 6 ft and also had the beard growth Everyone was scared of him. He was unstoppable.
This was brilliant, had me in stitches. I saw Bess play many times, he was a cracking player up and down that left side, a real athlete with a great engine and this was a great and enjoyable interview , well done and thank yoou
Dug out an old vhs of away v Wimbledon 95-96 today as converting to dvd. What a great player John was,i thought there was 3 of him on the pitch, was a defender, midfielder & attacker.Legend
Big fan of you guys 👌 if possible try to get on Stephen Constantine, he’s coached at Millwall and managed India, Sudan, Malawi, Nepal and clubs in Cyprus. Really interesting guy with a lot of good stories
Always thought John was one of those guys that was genuine, gave 100% at every club he played for, never knew about the OBE, fitting reward for being honest, could have chosen not to say anything re the racism question, instead his honesty opened doors offered an opportunity/purpose after he finished playing
John is spot on about Pompey, use to love them back then,John Gregory inherited a bunch of nutters with the old Pompey team, Gavin Maguire was a lunatic. Great stories by John!!,he was an extremely underated player.
Amazing interview, absolutely hilarious. I'm going to enjoy watching the back catalogue of these interviews. The ref ones are brilliant. However, the surprise from one of the lads that Beardsley was the best player is flabbergasting, Peter was one best british players ever and deffo the most underrated!!
For actual quality football content with big players and title challenges this is the one. Maybe not as funny as some others but up there with the best
Great show again lads. Question for Parky and Browny - who’s the best player they played with who never really made it for whatever really (Pissed up their talent, injures etc). Keep up the good work 👍
Ooooooh Johnny, Johnny.... stand out at Barnsley all those years ago. A great servant to the game. A proper muck & nails player from the best football era. Even as a Barnsley fan, I’d be interested to get Hirsty on!
Never liked Parky as a player, but as a Podcaster and Interviewer, I could listen to him talk all day 😅 Great show, I loved Bes as a player, despite being a Sunderland Fan as a kid, I loved the Newcastle Team he played in, Beresford, Albert, Ginola, Beardsley, Lee...Class team
Remember him coming back to st James park for an away game, was brought on as sub to a standing ovation and applause by 52 thousand Geordies, soon as he touched the ball we all booed him lol, the whole stadium laughed and Bez was like "You bastards haha" just laughed cos he knew we were taking the piss
I've actually been to one of Bez's talks and it was brilliant, I still have my signed photo He asked my name, but also asked "What do ya mates call you" so I told him When I walked away, he'd signed it to what my mates called me, lovely gesture That was in the Meadowfiled club in Heston Newcastle Raised a lot of money for charity as well He was very entertaining! Pardon the pun, we were "The Entertainers"
I saw David Hurst in a pub in Ocean Village in Southampton in 1998 as a kid... Remember being shocked he was downing pints a couple of hours before kick-off! Bez explains it here.
Where was the dell fella in southampton lived down here for a few months and dont really know the area was it near the city centre and docks or was it closer to motorway?
Venison and Bracewell both got chinned in Jacksons on Shields road in Byker by a well known wide boy, they were both giving it the biggin and got slapped. Great craic Johnny lad.
The Ian he couldn't remember the surname of at Barnsley was Ian Chandler. Won the FA Vase 4 times with Whitley Bay (1 as a player, 3 as manager) and a legend of non league football.
I was at the cup game man ure v pomey when he scored that worldy. Was in the Stretford end with my Liverpool gloves on. Only me jumping and cheering nearly got us lynched.
We should've had a defensive couch that didn't speak to keagan if he wouldn't listen The football we played was groundbreaking, just needed to tighten up Tino wasn't our downfall, there's a documentary about the Columbia team, that's when the captain got shot for scoring an own goal?! Tino called his family from the World Cup and arranged for them to leave the country due to threats from cartels Tino was a cool cat
This was great. Lads be great if could get John hartson bet he would have some good stories or the best if you could would have to be Lee Sharpe that would be brilliant

One of my favourite players growing up. Him, Rob Lee and Pedro. Unbelievable stories here. Top class, lads.

I was a huge fan of Beresford as a player. And watching this he seems a decent guy too. Great podcast as always

Brilliant as always, especially as Baldy Bolton not there interrupting!
Another belter; I notice the research didn't need correcting at any point this week, the bald one might struggle for game.
That Newcastle side 😍😍😍😍 good lord!!!
What about it? What did that side win,?
Unbelievable team unluckiest english club side in history to not win a league or domestic trophy
Clive Baker was the keeper at Barnsley when Beresford was there. Class act
Great show again lads.
Question for Parky and Browny - who’s the best player they played with who never really made it for whatever really (Pissed up their talent, injures etc). Keep up the good work 👍

I love how him and Steve Howey both describe the Asprilla tape in exactly the same tone and wording, "he was - battering her!!" 😂

Loved this one , humour and some great insights into top players
Barry Venison would be a good one to get on here, played in Turkey for Galatasaray and was at Southampton when Ali Dia made his appearance 😂
Ask him why Keegan sold him then ask the real reason
Great show this is second I've listened to...class!! The Kilcline story! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Brilliant podcast, brilliant stories from the entertainers era
fantastic Podcast one of the best John Beresford great player in his day
Remember John belting down the flank at Oakwell in the mid 80s, awesome player 👍

I have connections with Sheffield and Pompey. Very good podcast this one.

Drink every time he says 'Any How'.......Lol
another great show lads

Understand why now lol

Best one yet
Excellent poddy 😂😂
Excellent!
Please please please let's have a GAZZA podcast 🙏
he charges like 10 grand for an evening to speak
If gazza does go on, ask them to put subtitles on please.
wayne collumbine his gurning would be so irritating
Brilliant 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
whatever Killer brought to the club, which was limited, it was more than eclipsed by the Venison contribution
I had long hair in those days and if one of my mates had cut my hair he would have no longer been a mate. Killer was immense.
Where's the small bald guy?
Bez & Warren, best full back pairing in Toon shirts since Nattrass and Kennedy
Real good watch
Loved this one - great story telling 👍
Brilliant. Some great stories there🤣
Great guest
That was great . Top bloke is bess .
This was unexpectedly brilliant. Hirsty would be a great guest!
