Hello you two! I’ll try not to make this too long, but I just HAD to finally comment. I have binge watched almost everyone of your videos in the last week. I’m not even sure how I landed on your channel. Well, actually “But by the Grace of God” I have sat and cried some of the most beautiful tears watching, and listening to the two of you. Here’s why: You remind me so very much of my own Father & Mother. My Father passed 16 yrs ago now. I miss him everyday. He was the primary cook in our home. He loved baking and cooking both. So so many of the things you do, down to how you scrape all of the goodness from each dish, reminds me of him. He was born and raised in North Dakota on a farm, with seven other siblings. And his Mother, my Grandmother could cook! My Father told me for years, as I watched and learned in the kitchen… that I reminded him of his Mother, my Grandmother. ( in the kitchen) Every type of food has a memory for me, along with holidays and occasions. But, I have NEVER met someone who reminded me of my Father more than you have. The last week or so has given me more joy in remembering him than I have had in sometime. Last night I made no bake cookies. I sat and told him I’d found a no fail recipe, and they were perfect! Today as I watched this meatball video, I had to comment. He and I made this exact recipe. We made them every year for family game day, a few days before Christmas. We doubled the batch, and we would do half of the cranberry sauce & half grape jelly. I’m telling you it’s the best of both worlds. We were so excited when we figured it out. So when I watched this today, I just laughed with my Daddy, and cried a bit with love in my soul for this amazing, Godly influence in my life. And I felt this still small voice saying I should somehow share my simple story with you. I would love to share some amazing, and easy recipes of our families with you. I think you would love them. My hubby & I just relocated to Saint Augustine, Florida from North Idaho. We followed our youngest daughter and family here. Anyways, I hope you’ll see my comment. I can’t begin to tell you what a blessing you’ve both been to me and my hubby. We’ve been married 37 years. We Love Jesus, and we value family, and treasure a simple life. God Bless you both Dawn Hirst I’ll try to comment as I make your recipes. We just went to the store today, and will attempt Mac & Cheese with that surprise ingredient of cottage cheese. I hope it turns out yummy!
6:18 I stumbled across your videos simply because I’m a night shift nurse who stays up even on nights off. I have to tell y’all that I absolutely enjoy your recipes and your delivery of how to make them. Thank you for sharing!
For 30 years I have made the meatballs using whole cranberry sauce (2 cans) and 1jar of spaghetti sauce. I was almost always asked to bring it to potlucks once even for a friend’s son’s rehearsal dinner. I will try it with chili sauce soon. Note: I have never premixed, just dump on top of meatballs and stir once after meatballs have thawed.
I’ve been making these for Christmas Eve snacks since 1981. I use cocktail sausages as well. This recipe is in the 1970 Betty Crocker cookbook. I also made cheese pennies, broccoli dip, chicken salad puffs. The grand children still ask for these at Christmas time.
Appreciate the time and effort you put into your videos. They are really easy to follow and the included recipe is a plus. Thank you Tom & Melissa for the awesome work.
There’s many options for the cranberries Apricot Preserves Mango Jam Raspberry Jam Apple or Grape Jelly I would suggest using Cranberry Sauce and not the Jelly, for a more intense flavour. FYI in Canada Walmart offers both all Beef and Pork meatballs. The Pork ones are much better. I’m not certain if this is the same south of the border!
Tom I enjoyed come sit at my table I found all about three months ago I enjoy everything you do hope you come out with a cookbook y’all have a blessed day
I make these for church parties. Sometimes I substitute the meatballs with Hillshire Farm Lit'l Smokies, also delicious prepared this same way. The kids at church especially like both of these dishes.
Years ago my friend’s Mom made something similar. She used raw ground beef to make small meatballs, and in a saucepan she’d put grape jelly, a bottle of chili sauce and the raw meatballs, and cook it on low to medium until the meatballs were done, then serve them with toothpicks as an appetizer. I’ve also done the cranberry sauce, too. Delicious!
I just put chili sauce and cranberry sauce into my grocery online cart. I have got to try this. A small question, when emptying out bottles like the chili sauce, do you ever add just a tiny bit of water and shake it up to get the rest out? I do, it has become a habit of getting all the goodness out of any bowl, can bottle. 🙂
I’ve made little Smokies with grape jelly and yellow mustard-equal parts. Easily adjustable to amount of Smokies. I’m going to try this version; it sounds delicious! Thank you, Tom and Melissa for your fabulous recipes. I’ve added many to my “recipe Bible”. My daughter wants it when I’m no longer around. LOL You will be part of our family tradition. Fellow retired teachers here, too.
Heard of it with grape jelly but not cranberry sauce so I will definitely use cranberry sauce next time. I usually have cranberry juice in my fridge, which I would probably swish a little swig of in the chili sauce jar to get every bit out. Looks yummy 😋! Thanks ‼️
I fill chili bottle to where the bottom of jar changes shape, put lid on and shake. Gets all that goodness out of bottle. I also just mix on the crock pot bowl. I hate washing dishes😂
Thanks for reviving this great vintage recipe. When it first came out, we used eechrich sausages instead of meatballs. Sausages are really good with grape jelly and chili sauce.
Hello friends! I am so happy whenever I see one of your comforting videos! That’s the only way I can explain it I feel comfort, and I always learn something new, or 10 things! Thank you both for the fantastic videos!!!
My son saw your video last week and loved the recipe, he asked if he could make it for his birthday(10-13) We made recipe last night. Every so often he would come to the kitchen and say that it smelled really good.(HaHa) He loves GOOD food. Of course these were wonderful! We paired them with mashed potatoes and buttered corn😉 They were AMAZING. I Will make again and again. My son and I just absolutely love your videos, I appreciate the time you guys take to lay out all ingredients, explain the steps, and record so that we can see how to put all together. Tom and Melissa you are just Awesome at what you do. Thank you for allowing use to be apart of your lives and sharing amazing recipes.💖💖

My Momma made these in the 60’s and 70’s with homemade meatballs and grape jelly. Wonderful holiday memories. Got to try with cranberry sauce. Great idea. Yummy 😋👍
I’ve done chili sauce, apple jelly, a little bit of orange marmalade, and a half a can of pineapple chunks. Now I think I will add a little bit of cranberry sauce. I also do this with my little smokies. Both are so versatile. Thank you for sharing.
Made it with Jelly but I also added 1/2 tsp. Curry powder. Yummy. Will try it with cranberries. I'm a new subscriber and really like your show. Especially due to the fact that you are going over the ingredients slowly and precisely. Thank you, Christa
Since our daughter was tiny (3) our Christmas Eve has been a Birthday party for Jesus. Not sure how it started,😃 My daughter and son are both grandparents now and our celebration has grown as our family has. A friend from Church gave me this recipe (the grape jelly version). The recipe had the way to make the meatballs and said to serve them with small rolls. That's how we made them for years! Well, the rolls are no longer made and thank heaven for frozen meatballs, but our Christmas Eve party just wouldn't be the same without these! Take cars and have a great Thanksgiving!
Tom been watching set at your can sit at your table for about three months I enjoy it just about everything that you do hope that you come out with a cookbook y’all have a blessed day
I love this channel. You make things I’ve never seen, or make them completely different. It’s so much fun to see other ways to cook a dish. Love it. ❤ my holiday recipes are already to go…courtesy of y’all. I’m going to put your RUclips channel link w the recipe from your channel on things I take to events. Ty so much.
Wow, thank you! We appreciate that you’re sharing our channel with your family and friends. It’s so exciting for us to have our channel grow. We’re almost ready for our one year anniversary! It’s been so much fun to create this channel together.
Making these now. We done them twice before in the past few weeks one with cranberry and one with the grape jelly. It’s a split decision!! Tonight I am doing it all. I put in a full can of cranberry, chili sauce…about half of a jar and about a 1/4 cup jelly and a 1/4 cup bbq sauce…I’ll let you know what happens!! I also used a little orange juice to swish my chili sauce jar out with. Just enough to get the sauce out…fingers crossed it’s as good as the original!
Thank you so much for giving me another flavor-option for tomorrow's "Young at Heart" meeting at our local church. It's a potluck for the mature crowd 55 and up and I was initially going with the Welch's grape jelly/ Heinz chili sauce route, but this recipe is a game-changer! Woo-hoo!
We are delighted to be a small part of tomorrow's "Young at Heart" meeting! We sure hope all those youngsters enjoy these like we do! Thank you very much for being a part of our channel and sitting at the table with us.
I make one that has equal parts of chili sauce (I use a bottle of Heinz brand) and a good grape jelly (not jam). Put in meatballs (yours or frozen) add to a slow cooker until the meat balls are cooked/heated through. A great pot luck addition. 🇨🇦🇨🇦. (Just saw someone else posted this recipe).
😂 my daughter was pregnant (GIRL) and wanted these for her babyshower. I made them as per her request (9 sonogram including 1 2 days before delivery said girl) that baby popped out a healthy and happy baby boy! Be careful where you serve "meat" balls. You might get a different blessing ❤ He is happy, beautiful, and a very rambunctious lil boy. Just be careful..... not all Dr's know everything. We had a babyshower for a girl and had to get other stuff for Lil Man to come home 😂😂❤😂😂❤
I heard another youtuber say the clamps on the slowcooker lid are for transporting food and shouldnt be used when cooking according to instructions. I haven't had my instructions for years so I don't know how accurate it is but thought I'd pass it on just in case. And of course these look super tasty!
Good to know. I can't say that I've actually read the manual with ours. I do know we have vents to allow steam to escape and not build up pressure. We've never had an issue clamping ours down, but you know I'm going to have to check the manual when I get home (if I can find it!). Thanks to you both for watching our channel! We really do appreciate it!
I will try this recipe. I normally make it with the grape jelly. I add a little red pepper flakes and hot sauce. The crock pot bags make clean up easy, too.
This looks delicious , I’ve had the grape jelly and BBQ sauce many times but I’m gonna make them this way , I know they would be yuummy ! I think if you rinse the bottle out with about a cup of water and add 1tsp of corn starch dear loved in the bottle with water you would still have a thick sauce but would have more sauce and less chance of sticking ! Also I use my leftover meatballs on toasted hotdog buns topped with sautéed onions and green bell peppers or topped with either cheese sauce or shredded cheese ( I use mozzarella) and under the broiler a couple of minutes to melt the cheese , or 20-30 seconds in the microwave ! Thank you for all your videos , I love them ! God bless ❤️🙏🙋🏻🌈🌈
Yummy! I’ve made this with little smoky’s also. Just as a side note I don’t think you’re supposed to lock your crockpot lid while you are cooking. Only for travel. Thanks Tom and Melissa 💕🙏
I have done these with the grape jelly and chili sauce, I use a can opener on both ends of jellied cranberry sauce push right out if it’d didn’t fall out on its own, I’ve never had good luck with great value products. We don’t have a Costco where I live, it’s Sams club. I have taken these to a covered dish holiday gathering I have a 9 by 16 crockpot, nice presentation with this recipe.
We've always called jellied cranberry sauce in the can "Cranberry Log" for how it looks on the table out the can. We make these more for appetizers and naturally call them Cranberry Log Balls.
We have never used frozen meatballs. I always thought they would taste horrible but if you guys use them they must be good. I do have to add that my hubby does a meatball that is the best I have ever ate. His meatballs are smaller and taste so good even with no sauce, so I may try this recipe with his version of meatballs. God Bless!

@ohhomeontheroad ...Would love the blessing of all of us being able to see your recipes....
A family reunion, wedding, funeral, church potluck staple. ❤️👍
Save yourself the extra bowl and just mix it all directly into the crockpot. 😊❤
I wondered about doing it that way. That's definitely how I'd have done it. I hate multiple dishes.
Absolutely would work. Thanks for watching!
Your videos are especially helpful to people learning to cook. Your step by step instructions don't leave anything to chance!
Thank you so much! I think Tom’s classroom techniques show up in his cooking.
I’m retired and so thankful that I found your channel
Thanks for the recipe. My husband is at the grocery store right now. I sent him a text to pick up the ingredients! God bless you and your family 🧡

I use to make this for Christmas but I quit because the homemade meatballs were so much work. This is so much simpler, can’t wait to try it this way.
I make these every Christmas with grape jelly. I will try this year with the cranberry sauce.

Thanks for reviving this great vintage recipe. When it first came out, we used eechrich sausages instead of meatballs. Sausages are really good with grape jelly and chili sauce.
As a kid I couldn’t get enough of these meatballs. My mom always added a small amount of yellow mustard to cuts the sweetness.
So glad to hear that you are a fan of them. Thank you for watching! We appreciate it.

I usually do grape jelly and a BBQ sauce with the meatballs. Love trying new recipes and yours sounds very good.
Hope you enjoy it. There's a lot of great variations on meatballs out there so we appreciate that you are willing to try ours.
Haven't had these in a long time. They are yummy!
Yes, they are and this time of year we usually have lots of occasions to make them for family and friends.
Looks so easy, and delicious. I may serve them over rice. But I’m sure they would be good over just about anything. Thanks again, you😊 two!
Yummy! I’ve made this with little smoky’s also. Just as a side note I don’t think you’re supposed to lock your crockpot lid while you are cooking. Only for travel. Thanks Tom and Melissa 💕🙏
Yes, that's what it says on the instructions.
A favorite of our family. We've done both versions....grape jelly and cranberry sauce. I really love your videos, Tom and Melissa. Thanks!
Awesome! Thank you for watching. We appreciate you!
Perfect and will try with chicken or turkey meatballs. 👍
We have been making this for several years, but we add a bag of sauerkraut. It adds an extra twist. Try it, you will love it. 😊
That looks soooo good I think I will have to make this recipe for my nieces and nephews 😊
We hope they enjoy them! Thank you for watching.
I've made this before but instead of cranberry sauce I used grape jelly. I'll have to try the cranberry.
Can't wait to try this....looks delish!!!!!!
We had a graduation party for my granddaughter and made the meatballs and was a hit.
I’ve done this using marmalade and chili sauce, yummy!
Thank you!
I’m watching you from Irmo, SC, formerly from West Virginia. Love your videos, you explain everything so well. Thanks for sharing!
We've always called jellied cranberry sauce in the can "Cranberry Log" for how it looks on the table out the can. We make these more for appetizers and naturally call them Cranberry Log Balls.
Yummy
I have been making these for about 40 years, and I love them.
I’ve done chili sauce and grape jelly. This sounds fantastic! Gonna try sometime soon. Have a loooong list of recipes to try.
Hope you enjoy it. Thank you for watching.
God Bless!
