Well, I might as well point this out since the anime never actually explains this part…
In the manga, Eren says the Ackermans were the result of old experiments with Titan Science, a subject the anime also addresses even less.
These experiments turned the original Ackermans into anomalies with their own exclusive branches in the Paths that only their bloodline can access, allowing them to tap into the combat experience of all previous Ackerman generations.
They also gained the ability to manifest pure titan strength, stamina and durability in their human form.
So in summary, they are basically Subjects of Ymir with natural pure titans capabilities and bloodline-based memory sharing similar to the Nine Titans. THAT’S why they’re so broken. XD

Great analysis! Seriously, what must Isayama's mind be like to be able to so smoothly layer these themes, callbacks, and dialogue like this. It would be a shame if a decade from now Isayama isn't studied for his literary techniques as much as his story.

I don't think it's the past inheritors that is causing eren to act out this way. Remember all of the past founding Titan wanted things to remain the same. And even if the other founding Titan like Uri who swore he would eradicate Titans. But when he inherited the Founding he didn't want change. As Rod reiss said he lost to the memories of his ancestors so he didn't remove the power of titans. The fact that Eren is bringing big change tells a lot about his Will.
Eren actually goes against the Will of Hundreds of Founding Titans Will. Which fits his character as well as the Attack Titan.
And people seem to forget that eren killed two grown man as a kid because as he said he will take others freedom before they take his.
Marley is a threat so he will take it out. Only Him out of all who ate the Founding Titan had taken action towards Marley.

@@storieswithstyle The war Hammer Titan are also in on the whole keeping the eldians on the Island after all The WH was with Marley and the latest Titan Shifter firmly had that Ideology. The only Titan that probably makes eren act out this way is the Attack Titan. Cause I remember erens dad asking why him and then Kruger said because he had a look in his eyes that can burn the world but then Again Kruger asked himself if torturing his comrades is worth the the cause, Which shows his wavering resolution. Whilst the avatar of Founding and WH stood still to their ideology.
Eren had 2 Titans where previous avatar had do much will power to keep things as is. So much so that the avatar we saw had them didn't show much crack. While he had one Titan that strives for change and Kruger shows cracks questioning if the Will he inherited on Attack Titan Avatars are right.
Erens will makes the Attack Titans will triumph over the will of the other two. I can even say that erens will contributed the most on Attack Titans Will.

Also memories don't talk back. They are not voices in your head. I'm pretty sure they got the memory and choose what to do with it. For example Yuri wanted to eradicate titans even as a kid him and Rodd Reiss would bug their dad to do it but his dad never do. So he promised he will do it once he inherit the Founding.
But when he saw the memories and found out that the world hates them and removing titans means removing the wall titans which is basically the only thing that is stopping the world specially Marley on killing all of them and their bloodline. I think He decided not to do it. I don't think his ancestors talked to him or controlled him all the time. He just saw their memory and decided it's better that way.
Same thing with eren I think. He saw all the memories and ever since he was a kid (He killed two grown man because in his word I will take their freedom before they take mine) He was hellbent on being free even without the attack titans influence. Even before he touch his stepmom and got back his dad memories he was saying " I'll kill them all, I'll wipe out every single one of them" towards his enemy that is taking his freedom away ( which was then the titans) His stubborn nature make it so that Given all of this memories and information he was like I'll take your freedom before you take mine.

Floch Forster/Flocke Förster is such an awesome character. I would beat the shit out of him if I could, but he's so well-written as the character he is. He represents the fact that most people are just one or two tragedies, some wrong conclusions and sudden power away from becoming actual fascists. He's a fucked up painter and we see how he got there and while some viewers seem to come to the wrong conclusion that he's therefore correct, the correct conclusion to draw is that people who behave like painters or neopainters weren't born evil nor do they lack the capacity for good; they just took several wrong turns.

In episode 06 of the third season, during the conversation between Kenny Ackerman and his grandfather it became clear that Mikasa is immune to the manipulation of the Titan power. She has always been and will be free because she has the ability to act of her own free will, but her actions and decisions have a causal origin, if this were not the case, we would be talking about metaphysical free will. In this case her will would be the first cause of her actions and would be exempt from prior determinations. Mikasa is free because her decisions are based on the conditions of her environment, perceptions, desires and emotions, and are determined by various factors, such as biological predispositions (non-genetic), and her learning history. Her decisions are caused by a mental process based on her beliefs and desires, she is free because decides based on her knowledge, values and needs, and not by other sets of causes such as pathologies or external coercion.

Wonderboy is a reference to Robert Redford's character Roy Hobbs's baseball bat, created from a tree struck by lightning that he witnessed, I believe, in The Natural, which is indeed a baseball movie. If this was merely a coincidence I'll eat this fucking laptop I'm typing on. Anways, it was sort of his Excalibur or Mjolnir, or a different, more esoteric myth about a divine weapon that more closely parallels this. Strangely enough, or not, in the English dub he is I think always called the "Boy Wonder" and never "Wonderboy", but if there is a country that loves baseball as much as us (or used to, srsly fuck the NFL), it's gotta be Japan (or any unbelievably poor and/or oppressed island in the Caribbean).

The whole Ackerman slave stuff is bullshit, or at least most of it. It doesn't make any sense. I mean the whole reason the Ackermans were prosecuted was because they turned AGAINST the king. That doesn't exactly sound like someone who is being controlled. If we use the whole host thing and apply it to Levi, I imagine Erwin would have been his host, but Levi has never once become reckless and eager to protect when Erwin was in danger. In fact, he's the one who let Erwin die.
Even if there is something with the Ackermans where they have a tendency to find a host to follow, I do not believe it is as strong as Eren makes it seem. I do not think it makes them slaves with no control. I think they very much have full control. Mikasa is just in love with Eren and that's why she acts like that.

All those traits, coupled with the vision he saw of a titan-less world (brought about by his death at Mikasa's hand, and nothing else), meant he would never NOT choose to do the Rumbling. I haven’t finished the reaction yet so you might change what you just said but I disagree that Eren doesn’t hate people who ‘live like livestock’. I distinctly remember him having an issue with Mikasa and Armin trying to abide by the rules to survive after the first wall fell. Mikasa punched his lights out after he started yapping and calling Armin weak remember? 😂 He never once revises or takes back that sentiment until maybe the conversation Historia in season 3 where he starts begging to be killed or with Reiner in season 4 before the attack on Marley. Even then, he’s not acting in favour of change. The difference is we could sympathise with Eren’s disdain of being confined by the walls and his frustration with everyone who is okay with it as a child but now he is a grown man with a far more nuanced understanding of the world and he STILL refuses to ‘compromise’ his ideals. He is still pursuing freedom with no regard for peace and at this moment in time, I’d say just for selfish reasons. Of course, there could still be more to it that we as viewers aren’t privy to as of yet and that’s the beauty of Attack on Titan 😁

How is Floch a painter person? Didnt the painter try to return Germany to more traditional values and seemingly "antiquated" ways? He spoke on how Germany had been led astray with modern values, and how they needed to return to the glory days. That's the opposite of what Floch is doing, unless I'm missing something.

Personally I had a pretty good read on Eren in these scenes or even this season. I missed a lot in the series (for example eren and annie looking like their titans), but I am proud about this one.
The last nail was when Eren said he always hated Mikasa, because while the rest could have been true and had truth in it... that was clearly a lie. And the foreshadowing with the train scene where he says he basically cares about them the most, and f*ck the rest. And so much other foreshadowing (for another example his convo with Reiner, where he shows that he is not overtaken by hate. Last seasons he wanted to kill them because he hated them, now he sees they are the same, but he proceeds anyway).
Interesting to see most reactors not being with Eren on this. I think because I still believed in Eren and his cause and the Yaegerists (except floch obviously :D) it was easier for me to get to Eren's true motivation. Even you who got most things right were blinded a bit here by the general dislike for his plan :D
In general why am I pro Yeagerist? Well it's not like the military is elected, sooo the strongest get's to rule... Also atleast from what we saw Erin had the support of the people. And at that point when you have the power you have the responsibility to use it... it would also be immoral to just follow orders if you don't agree with them. But yeah, Eren forced the militaries hand with attacking in Liberio.
The military and Eren didn't trust each other. At the point where Eren did overertly take over, the military was planning to have him eaten. Understandable when they think he is "controlled" by Zeke.
As for Eren's war... he did wait for the world to declare war on them first. There was no option for peace. The world would have never trusted Eldians, because yeah they are literally a different race and a ticking time bomb.

    • @storieswithstyle
      @storieswithstyle  4 месяца назад +3

But in the end that was not his true motivation. It was not his friends. he jsut told that to them (and in part himself) to justify his hateful actions (which was an awesome twist). He directly (as directly as possible for him) kill Hange, inderctly kills sasha and heavily scars all his friends mentally. Also, just because it is a lie still makes this abuse (which is "good", beacuse Ymir needed to see that). The convo with reiner he is also subjugated to destiny, so he can not act against him. He also thinks reiner was hateful (I think) and that is why he thinks they are alike. But I think that discussion is more useful later in the review streams where I can talk more and adress these points from my view more adequately. =) But eren caring for his friends the most is simply not true, I would say they are his second most priority. he will save them except when the rumbling is threatened.

Now that you saw the ending, you know that the past memories stuff was not quite the thing to care. Eren did what he did because of himself, not because of other's memories. He is not a slave to someone's memories, he is a slave to his own desire, and his own memories. He is manipulated by himself. And he will obtain his goal whatever it cost. A lot others desires were inside his head, ( that's why he was not sure about his decision.) but basically, Eren is Eren and he alwayas have been. He never trully changed. He just erased his emotions because he needed to. And because he experienced everything before everyone else, making him the man with the most amount of knowledge in SNK. He ate the fruit of knowledge, and sins... And from that he became omniscient. The fact you obtain a great amount of knowledge and act differently doesn't mean you are not yourself anymore. But the fact is that this is his memories, that made him like that, his own memories. the problem is not to have a lot memories from the past of others peronns, but to not be able to know when are these memories. You lose your perception of what is real. You don't even know if what you are actually living is true.
And i desagree with something. Eren is a good tactician, as long as he is able to restrain his emotions. The mask he put on his face this whole fourth season was the perfect proof. You saw yourself he won several battles and knew exactly how to use his powers the most efficiently possible. Indeed, he is not the most intelligent of the show, and not the wisest. He is not a good strategist. But he is a good tactician. And that's a fact. He know how to adapt to a situation on the battlefield. That's intelligence. He has the charisma to be a good leader too. Even if i think this is thanks to Floch here. Eren didn't care about that, i think.
Another thing... if a good leader is someone who don't kill his mens, then a good leader doesn't exist. Erwin was a bad leader too.
Eren is a twisted verion of Erwin, here. He is his reflect, but turned into something more extremist. And he is an opposite in some ways. Where Erwin gave up his dreams for the greater good. Eren gave up the greater good for his dreams. They are both the same, except in their last decision. No matter what, Eren charged recklessly because he was young and unable to control himself. This is something you can do by growing. But since his moral compass is not quite the same as everyone else, he never learned how to restrain himself, until he was in the Scout, forced to not let his emotions talk. And now that you saw the end. You know why Eren laughed when Sasha died. He knew what will happen. And he tried to avoid it. But futur can't change, when there is only one futur possible...

    • @storieswithstyle
      @storieswithstyle  4 месяца назад

I would disagree about the memories - well, not really, rather that it is not clear. We only know at the end that the "cause" was the hatred within him. But it is still open if that is his own flaw or the hatred of all his people ("old man hatred") chaining him down again and again. I could see both ways. I currently like the latter more, as I think it brings more meanings, but the other interpretation also brings many cool meanings. I love that it is ambiguos, actually. =)
About the leader, I think sending people to their death is evil, so "good" as in the opposite, I agree, there is no good leader (in the show at least). Also, I have another idea why he laughed, but that will need to be discussed in the after-aot livestream, I think. =)

If you remember, Grisha was not that much of a hater, in the end. It's Eren who pushed Grisha to be like he is. By logic, it's Eren who pushed himself to be who he will be.
Eren is the only one who is able to influence past with the Attack Titan power. Because he is the only one who came into past memories. I don't know if you understood this part about his powers. But Eren choose what memories he will show to Grisha and the past inheritors. And he control also his own past memories. So, he manipulated the past to go exactly into the futur meant to be. The Attack Titan is his will and always was. It's him who created the will of the Attack Titan, because he is the only one in the History who was able to use its power.
He created the past by his power. So, if he is manipulated by past hatred, it's also by his own hatred. He is the only one who was able to send memories in the past, and the only one who wrote the story. He created the will and the memories of the Attack Titan, with his own. And he saw his memories through his dad's memories too. So, he was manipulated by his own hatred. Undeed, you can say Grisha influened Eren, and influenced himself too.
This is the famous question. Who was the first one, the egg, or the chicken ? They are both in the same time. It's a paradoxe. Eren's hate is all past Attack Titans hate. But all past Attack titan are also Eren's hate. You are wrong and right. But in facts, there is no answers, because both answers are true in the same time.

    • @storieswithstyle

@@vincentvieille5996 No, still disagree in that there are definitely interpretations. He did say "past, present and future are all one", but that also might hold true for past, present and future of all eldians (he was conencted with the paths and founder). Thus their hate. It is acutally a line that in that interpretation is saying exaclty that. because their whole past present and future are suffering and hatred (embodied by Ymir as well, thematically). Grisha only had attack, like all before. That is why it did not really affect them that much. What did Eren in was attack and founder together. Again, that is an interpretation, but it is a valid one. It is in the end ambiguous how exactly those things are to be understood. and is subjective.

@@storieswithstyle Sorry You answered before i even finished my anwer lol. I posted it and corrected several times to organize it correctly.
But here is my thought to conclude. You are right and wrong in the same time. Both answers are true in the same time. Because of how work the powers of the Attack Titan. It's a paradox.
Since it's a paradox, everyone influenced Eren and Eren influenced everyone. You can't say for true who was the first to influence the other. But in term of fact, Eren sent his memories to all past inheritors, and as the Only one who was ever able to use all the potential of both Attack and Fouding titan in the same time.
Basically, the will of the Attack titan is his will. Remember even if Eren is connected to the Paths, he is the last one of the Attack Titan and Foudning Titan. It mean he was the only one to trully influence everything. His will lead all the Attack Titan in the past. But since they were in the past, it was also their will who influenced Eren.
There is no answer to who was the one to influence who. They both did in the same time. It's a paradox in time loop. There is not first and last, only a cirle. The end and the begenning are the same, as Eren's hate is everyone's hate and everyone's hate is his hate. This is how a god should be, it he exist, a being who is everyone and everyone is himself in the same time. This concept is complete madness, but i love it. And i'm sure you loved it too, as someone who like scientific concepts.

@@vincentvieille5996 Yes, that might also be that Eren's hate is everynes hate and vice versa, which i agree with at least 100% from the point he has the attack titan plus his dreams in episode 1, but what I meant was the hate he showed in the mikasa meeting with the grapers. That is the inital hate we see and the question is whether that situation was caused by the future or if that was "just him". We never see that, though actually he flashes back to it and says something like "I have always been hateful" or something. That to me implies that even knowing everything, he still acknowledges in that situation it was just him. because he says "it was just him" from the "allknowing point" (armin talk), which led me to believe at least in the initial reaction that yes, the hate originated in him without the paradox annd just amplified everything. But it definitely merits a live discussion :D because I also really like the take of it being the same, though currently I struggle with the evidence (only for the mikasa scene, mind you, though that is basically his ground zero). =) Hope that made sense, it is hard to write down :D
