Becka, I will be praying for you! When my daughter was five years old she had a spinal tap at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to determine if she had Lyme meningitis (bacterial not viral). I was in the room when they were prepping her. There was a team of amazing healthcare professionals. Everything went great! They were wonderful! Btw it was Lyme meningitis and a month later we were told by the neuro ophthalmologist that she was completely healed! So we had a very positive experience with a spinal tap. My daughter will be 20 in ten days!

Hi! I have Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (used to be known as pseudotumor cerebri). I had to have a spinal tap to diagnose it. They did the spinal tap and measured the pressure of the csf coming out, and they also allowed it to drain off the excess fluid off of my brain. The worst part was lying flat for hours afterward. It wasn't bad just boring. It was painless, and not a bad experience at all. In fact, all my symptoms of my IIH went away immediately, and I was so grateful. I pray that you have a great experience, and you get answers and relief!

I’m one of your best supporters. Just get whatever you need to get. My husband had to have a stent put in his heart because of heart attack. This was in 2007 and he’s doing great. He’s on blood thinners also. You’ll be fine, I promise. Husband has had back surgery for a sciatic nerve and doing really good. It doesn’t bother him. On top of everything, I had a hip replacement in Oct. and doing fine. I’ll pray for you.

I so feel you Becka, I have severe chronic pain from multiple issues, headache/migraines being one of them. People can’t understand how draining it is. Between the physical and emotional it’s very wearing on you. I’m glad they’re going to get your aneurism taken care of. I had one I’d didn’t know about until it ruptured. I was so blessed to get great medical care. The surgery went well, and I came out with very little problems. Best of luck to you, and thank you for the update. ❤

Hi Becka! You will do great! I had one done almost a year ago, and it went well, didn’t feel anything, just make sure you lay flat afterwords as long as you can! Hopefully you have somebody to watch your kids so you can rest at least the first 24hrs!
I have stage four recital cancer so I do CT scans every four to six months and MRI scans every four to six months depending on my lab results.Niether of them are bad at all.The MRI does take a good while so for me laying on that hard table is uncomfortable .I would say the the contrast and barium are not fun but I am not sure you will need that.I am praying for you❤🙏

My mom had to have a spinal tap to help diagnose her MS. She did great and was 70. I was more concerned than she was. You will be fine but I think you do have to lay flat for awhile. Mom even did great with a biopsy in her lung and breast. Mom was on blood thinner also and had to go off for 2 weeks prior. She had so many MRIs and PET scans and always did great. I'm sorry you are going through this. I'll be thinking about you.

I'm praying for you! I have a brain tumor that causes me to have seizures, among other things. I opted to to the medication route instead of having it surgically removed because my kids were very young and I'm a single mom. Now that they're older, I'm not ready, but willing to have the surgery. All of that to say I understand how emotional these situations can be, I'm right there with you. One of my children had one at the age of three I will admit I was scared but it went great. I also have a small piece of my brain on the left side that is damaged they are not going to remove however it has surfaced in the form of epilepsy it is considered medication resistant epilepsy the hardest to treat, I take 11 medications, it controls the seizures, it compromised my anti bodies and I do get sick very easy, I also take a blood thinner as I have small vessel disease they are ok you will just bruise like crazy. I also have diabetes as a result of the on set of seizures. It’s a crazy life, but I go with the punches and except that I have a medical condition. I will pray for you and that this will still be scary as your children are young. I have faith you are strong you got this. You will look back and be thankful they were able to get it under control. The spinal tap should not hurt they will numb you you may bruise and have a tender spot on your back for about two weeks. You got this I am proud of your courage and strength those boys need you and you will fight whatever is thrown your way to stay with them. Take care and stay safe❤❤❤❤
I had a spinal tap when i was 13 it wasn't that bad. Once it's on its painless and they drain the fluid.If you have had and epidural it's less painful then the spinal tap. ❤🙏🤗
