Small trick - you can name the flag whatever you want. Earlier on it was just numbers. Now it can be any string. So naming the flag to what it should do helps sorting your stuff.
Oh even better. Nice. Thanks!
Awesome. Must test!
How do you name a flag? Asking for a friend....
@@DerOrso I think he means just where I put 10 and 20 in the video.
@@CasmoTV yes. Exactly. Instead of the number, put the text in the same field.
If not controlling a game, random radio spawn triggers can be awesome. Works well for single player or small coop missions with friends. Good video Casmo, identifying units saves a lot of headaches when diving deeper into mission creation.
Every time i feel like my knowledge has advanced significantly in DCS…I find a video like this and I realize i know virtually NOTHING.
Great tutorial. Thank you.
Thanks to your extremely simple explanation and demonstration and my simple mind, it will all finally click after only 20 times watching it. 🙂 Great tutorial!
Boost. The. Algorithm!
Flags don't have to be numbers. This blew my mind. I got tired of keeping track of flags in a spreadsheet so I just started using human readable names, even if my mission only had a couple of triggers.
Yeah I just learned that myself. Even better!
@@CasmoTV I should also add that I love this idea of a rheostat to control the chaos of a mission. While I love the helo content you put out there is very few info out there on how to create and RUN a mission this way. A while back you had missions where you were calling in strikes on none-existing targets because in real life, you may not see what exactly you're shooting. This idea of a mission totally changed how I think about creating missions. So....thanks!
Using this in single player and I clean up the radio menu with "radio item remove" after the radio trigger was used.
Thanks for the comments that the flags can now be string values, too. Didn't know that.
Been doing this stuff from the LUA side with moose. I like having the ability to place a map marker and having units spawn or take commands at that location
Cool. I forgot to ask you that day you were live to show this after the mission. But it was even better since now it's here for a lot more people xD
Thanks for promoting the video cause I realized I didn’t explain it
Great video, thanks for sharing!
it works, i use it on helo missions , where im not able to kill all my targets, wingman always dies, so i set up a arty batt, and f10, pull up map, select target or grid, to make it more realistic
Great video, Casmo, and a good idea that was new to me, so thank you. For anybody looking for Mission Editor videos, Iain Cristie has a bunch of good vids that are worth checking out too.
Thank you, much appreciated!
i like to remove the used Radio Item wenn its trigger ar met. so the F-10 Menue isnt thath messy
2:51 When did ED add that? As always, silently, completely under the radar...
9:23 Master key for everything in life... jsut do it a few hundred or thousand times.
Nice but easier to give radio command to your group X secondes after start and name them with "codes" if there is many player in your groupe.
Ok, does anyone know how to get an AI Apache to engage with 20rnd bursts and off the axis of advance? And also engage structures? (They won't engage a designated structure, only armed personnel or en armour etc).
Is the trigger zone and unit in zone for the command unit necessary? What if you wanted the command unit to be your player unit and wanted to be able to activate the late activation unit at any time, you may not want to be restricted to a trigger zone. ??
Just spawn on the trigger and leave. That’s it. It will still work once you leave.
