Marriage counseling with Dr Casmo: Yes there’s a pilot in command though it’s not always the same seat just make sure to communicate your needs with each other to achieve a common set of goals, don’t be afraid to speak up and use your own experience to let the other seat know what is needed because they may have gotten complacent when you haven’t. Thanks for watching. :D
I watched this a long time back and it was helpful, but I needed a refresher today. I don't do CP/G very much so I don't really retain the information. It was helpful once again.
Hey, Casmo. awesome to see you doing some more Apache, Once again thank you for what you do for the Dcs community awesome video. I am sure you kicking @$$ irl for the flight training.
Another wonderful informative video, on the wonderful Apache, thank you. I wonder in a few decades, that you'd be able to pick one of these old girls up for real, like you can a classic car??? As I wouldn't mind landing one of these beast, in the works car park!!!! ED's DCS Apache Module, simply rocks!!!!
One key or stick button function I'd love to see for CPG seat is a "lean" function for dealing with the TEDAC's obscured components on LHG and RHG....... the "lean" function you'll see in first-person shooters when at corners of cover. I don't have a TrackIR device yet, which I presume might offer a quicker way to see the LHG/RHG better than using Ctrl-Shift Num 4 and 6 to move cockpit camera left and right. As always, Casmo thanks for the superlative tutelage. Your "oneness" with your craft kinda makes you a Joe Satriani of helicopter flight :)
Outstanding as always! Thank you Casmo, for taking the time. I was interested in your movement while engaging the target. Are there OPSEC free suggestions you can make concerning your preferences of moving engagement in DCS? I saw your vid about not always hovering. It looks like in this vid you were orbiting until you were ready to engage, then you had the pilot turn left for constraints. Is that correct?
thanks for making these! super helpful for getting the most out of this module; if you have time to take a request i'd love a video that's all about sharing info between apaches
I bound my MPD R6, R1 and R2 with a modifier so I can now change my acquisition source in about a second. Very handy instead of fumbling with the mouse
Im curious, if the CPG sets the rockets to be for instance 6IL with an interval of 2, will this override the pilots choice when using COOP mode? or is this something that in reality both have to have set identically to have COOP function
Until min 9:45 when you say "...we'll transition into how to hunt for targets" the graphic of your monocle has been repeated on your middle screen. Then, at min 9:50, the graphic of your middle screen has changed and now it is ready for targets acquisition. How do you change middle screen graphic ? Thx
Thanks for such great work Casmo. If wasn't by you and few other people I would be still reading pages and pages of documentation just to figure out how to take off. Just one quick question: How do we pass the information from the coordinate page to other aircraft? You mentioned that multiple times during the video.
In the seahawk we could video lock/track a target on FLIR, you guys must have at least had that capability, right? Is that something coming later for the DCS module?
Could you please tell me what hat switch (or ministick) on your Virpil CM3 throttle did you bind for the cursor (you talk about this at min 1:50 ) ? Thanks
This is my first entry into DCS. Why are there so many features not implemented yet? Is this normal for DCS modules? Do they release bare bones and get updated over time? I've been told something as important as altitude hold doesn't work "yet" either.
The implemented features are also more than enough to be learning. The "Quickstart" manual is 300 pages long. I've had this over a month and haven't even been in the front seat yet 🤣
As a former 15R working on the Apache and now I install the TESS equipment for simulated engagement (yes we've probably met NTC or JRTC). I have a very good understanding of how the front seat works. I am fortunate that I also get to play in the real simulators on post, I got a little over 8 hours back seat time in the AH and a few hours in the UH. I'm seriously looking forward to getting into DCS and setting up for the Apache specifically, any advice on computer and set up (I don't know much about computer's).
Great video. In the British army, you can go for pilot selection from the rank of corporal. The Army air corps likes to have ex tank commanders/crewmen as the thought processes and fighting tactics are very similar for both platforms
Thanks for this. Helpful. Would you ever use trkup north for the map? It's tempting to do it but I'm not sure if its a bad idea. Also do you actually play single player like this or are you mostly 2p? I've found using george to fly while I cpg shoot i just dont evade well enough and have to switch to the pilot seat and do it myself.
@@CasmoTV Ok. I was just curious how it works single player. When you'd use George and when you'd just flip between seats. I'm guessing you mean you use George for the videos but play 2 player generally.
Even more reason to keep plugging away at the CPG seat...one thing, I haven't been on the Apache in a week or so and haven't flown WITH someone for longer. Is there a way to slave between T01-T04 like you showed with some ease?
First thing I do as soon as I get screens up is to boresight. Does this make a difference in using the gun. Also setting the man range seems to have great effect on accuracy of the gun. Thank you for the Vid, I did learn stuffs :)
Casmo - can you explain one detail? While on the ground, the FLT page shows barometric altitude which is actually a few feet higher than airbase elevation from GPS data. Is it because the sensor on the Apache is placed around 2.5m from the ground or is it a bug in the build? If it's the first case, which altitude (and barometric pressure) should be set? Or those few feet dont matter that much?
This sort of stuff is worth its weight in gold! Thanks for taking the time to put it together

Another quality tutorial mate, I’m certainly learning a great deal from your videos. Thank you, it really is appreciated 🚁👍
Thanks, was looking for something like this, to better understand the workflows in the front. Lots of good hints.😁
This is the best vid for the CP/G that I’ve seen yet. Great job, and thank you! 👌
So much goodness in your videos! Thanks for taking the time to post!
As always, a great video that takes a complex system and breaks it down into easy to understand blocks. Thank you sir!
Wow, I thought it would be cool to be the CPG. But it looks like it's a lot of work. Thank You Sir.
It is cool. Both seats have their work load. I've been enjoying the front seat at least, though I need to get better at it.
Thank you for another great video.

That LFS thingy is what they used. They don't have that cool video lock/track like the Ka50 :(

I use the four way hat on the right side, the one that has the dial around it.

Thanks man, much appriciated! Is there a way to "ground stabilize" the TADS or is it just possible with Waypoints/TG-Points?
LMC
Casmo if I want my seeker to look at a friendly laser do I change the "channel" or "code" to match theirs?
The channel with the correct code should be changed.
Is there a tutorial on how to enter co-ordinates for waypoints etc?
How did you so quickly switch off the TADS view from the HMD? Is there a key binding for that?
on the RHG theres a 4 way hat switch that you use to select which sight you want. Not hard to miss: top is HMD, right is TADS, so forth.
so the keybind in question is "show IHADDS" I believe the default binding is the "i" key.

Ripple mode hasn't been implemented in the DCS AH64D yet, so that may be difficult.

only time it should matter is in zero visibility.
Usually just use radar altimeter anyway. Only use I see with the barometric is, if you are above radar altimeter range.
