    My curiosity finally got to me and I looked up Oak Park Illinois on the Rand McNally Road Map and it is smack in the middle of Chicago! Imagine that! No wonder they have some of the best SoR teams!

      The folks who started the Oak Park School had a kid in the Chicago one, fell in love with the program so much that they bought their own franchise. And the music director, Jennifer Malone, was originally a teacher at the Chicago location.

      mix6809 That's Eliza Endless. All four musicians were School of Rock AllStars, the very best in the program, who went on national tours playing clubs and festivals.

    @ 4:25 I love the transition in this song. I think this was a _great_ performance, but not the best audio/ video quality. :(

    Excellent! That was very enjoyable. It's just a shame that the bass got buried in the mix. Looked like he was all over the fret board. Would have liked to hear that better.

    • @MidWestConcertVideo2
      @MidWestConcertVideo2  6 лет назад +1

      Ken Wheeler Sorry, I get a board feed and usually the bass cabinet on stage is so freaking loud that i get none in the mains. It works better in bigger venues.
      It truly is a shame because Max Kramer is a phenomenal bassist - one of my top three School of Rock bass players.

    • @kenwheeler3637
      @kenwheeler3637 6 лет назад

      Yeah, that's understandable. Being a bass player myself it's usually one of the first things I notice. It makes me happy seeing another bassist that inserts a lot of fills instead of simply thumping out the back beat. Just like Geezer Butler and Steve Harris. \m/

    Please don't take this as hate rather as constructive critisism, but I feel like the program would really benefit from more emphasis on vocal coaching. I found this to be one the better vocal performances, but it's still far short of what it could have been. Usually with exception of the allstars it's kind of a theme throughout most School of Rock covers I've seen that the instruments are pretty good to very good while the vocals are rather lackluster. Sure you mostly have kids in their mid teens, so most of their voices haven't fully developed yet, but I still feel like they should be able to to better with more training.

    • @MidWestConcertVideo2
      @MidWestConcertVideo2  7 лет назад

      It's a valid point. I could point out a dozen or so videos that I thought had really exceptional vocals, but it's generally a weak point of the program compared to the guitar education.

      @MidWestConcertVideo2  7 лет назад

      Antares 8001 Here's a video featuring exceptional vocal work: ruclips.net/video/PT2lFsTZHpk/видео.html

    • @Antares-dw9iv
      @Antares-dw9iv 7 лет назад +1

      I'm not saying there are no performances with great vocals, it's just something that I noticed in a lot of performances, especially when it comes to the more powerful hard rock/metal songs from Deep Purple, Maiden, Dio etc. I still think it's an amazing program and I'm not trying to invalidate the achievements of these young talents and their teachers. It's just something I felt should be pointed out.

    • @MidWestConcertVideo2
      @MidWestConcertVideo2  7 лет назад

      Antares 8001 It's a fair point. With hard Rock especially, I think the teacher concentrate on just singing it safely - it's a type of music that can be particularly hard on the vocal cords. I wish more of the teachers would participate on the comments section of RUclips, as I am just the video guy, and hardly any expert on music.

    • @Antares-dw9iv
      @Antares-dw9iv 7 лет назад

      Yeah the singing safely part is definitely a good point cause as I said at that age the vocal chords usually haven't fully developed yet. And there are a few performances of even those kind of music where I found the vocals to be quite good, for example Leah's performance of Holy Diver. Or with the AllStar teams.

    This is a Black Sabbath song and they couldn't find a male singer???

    • @MidWestConcertVideo2
      @MidWestConcertVideo2  4 года назад +1

      Honestly they have more female singers than male ones. It's pretty much a thing in every School of Rock location I've been to.

    • @peteguard3571
      @peteguard3571 4 года назад +2

      SOR has had great success with females singing songs originally sung by a male recording artist. I am of the opinion that is the mark of a well written song, that it can be sung by either gender. This same singer did a great cover of Dio's Holy Diver.
