  • 4 months into starting my company and channel, I stopped work and asked myself, “If I could create anything, any type of content, what would it be?” I wanted to be Oprah. HAHA To get deep into the life and journey of people who have overcome adversity and to put out content that would hopefully make a difference to someone’s life.
A lot of what I do encourages you to look outward - where and what to eat, where and how to spend your time in what hotel, in which country, but through this series, I hope to encourage us to look inward to embrace what’s there, defeat any shame holding us back, and to celebrate overcoming adversity and growth… and what better way than to start from homeground.
I’m super proud of my Mom for sharing her story and owning her past while taking the chance to celebrate some of the things I admire about her most… and for our next episode, Rachel Lim, co-founder of Love, Bonito shares vulnerably about the ending of her first marriage and radically accepting she may not be the best CEO for the company she founded!
Stay tuned as we’re also bringing you around the world with new episodes of CARRY-ON!

Hello dear fam 💜, Mom and I are wonderfully overwhelmed by the heartwarming responses to us sharing our story. Thank you so much. While I'm unable to reply every comment, dm, and email but trust us, we read every one. Our hope is that through this video, you'll find the courage to look inward, embrace what's there, and give you the courage to walk away from anything you need to. We don't need to be defined by our mistakes. We love you and you're not alone!

Shalom! Watched your vid this early morning from Kuala Lumpur and my tears flowed at such raw, sincere words from two genuine hearts, Aiken and Mum Ros, both just so precious at wanting to do the best after walking out of a painful experience. It made me see that making a conscious decision of walking out of a dark period and walking into the next phase for our own sakes and worth are what makes us, the good bits so overlooked now all come to the front and that's what touches my heart most. Because it's this period of walking alone with our innocent children in tow. When Aiken talked about how he used to watch his mum from far, and memorized every turn and direction his mum walked, and the time when Mum Ros had to go for a caesarian all alone, I wept!!!
I could go on and on but I'll stop here and say that your testimony is to the Glory of God alone and how He alone can turn our pain into joy again is so evident. I recognize so much of us in both of you, tho I was the wife abandoned with three small children. Looking back I see how merciful God was to keep coming through for my children and me. So many life lessons to be honed and learned yet ever faithful, is Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. No one is turned away who comes to Him.
God bless you both always. With hugs and love.

I really feel for your mum. She was too young to make any proper decisions or judgement and also due to her lack of love from parents. There are so many people like her and we cannot judge before we know the whole story

So lovely of your mother to be willing to share her story with us - I’ve recently learnt about what my parent(s) went through in their lives
      I understand them much better
now that they have started to open up and share too. It’s been very therapeutic allowing for much emotional healing.
Speaking from the heart (Reminds me of some ancient words : “My say is the sincere expression of my heart and my lips utter the best of their knowledge “ - Job33:3) applying this has improved our relationship☺️)
      Thank you for sharing 🌹
      Much appreciated
      They did their best

I almost teared when Aunty Ros said she went in for C-section all alone. Imagine going in to have your body cut open and having no one to hold your hand when you wake up, followed by healing all by yourself. The pain isnt just physical. I'm so sorry you had to go throught that all by yourself, Aunty Ros. Aiken is worth it, though!

You are very fortunate to have such an amazing mum. I am born a illegitimate child, my dad was never divorced and lived with my mum. I was never being loved by my parents. Since 15yrs old I worked part time to earn my own pocket money, and at 18yrs old I had to help pay rental and household bills for me and my mum. My mum till today is only in favor with me cos I pay bills and supported her. I am envious of how open you and ur mum can talk to each other. This is something I can never have cos my mum will only talk about money or something she want. I suffered from severe trauma becos of my past and my mum but I never give up in giving love to my own family.

Mama Ros is an excellent example of being at peace, something that I’ve set to work on this year onwards. Everyone’s journey can be vastly different, and Mama Ros’ sharing has truly inspired me! ❤

Wait a minute... You only heard one side of the story and you think she has zero responsibility by participating KNOWINGLY in a man's extra-marital affair? What has the world come to? There's a difference between forgiving yourself for your mistakes and externalising for every decision you've made (i.e. it was not my fault, I was gaslit, it was him, it was his wife, it was his children).
I don't think Auntie is trying to run away from her responsibilities, so why are you being such an apologist, and trying to absolve her of any real accountability?
I truly am very very happy for Auntie for having accepted and forgiven herself. But if you were to ask me, or her for that matter, I'd still think she made a mistake. Like Aiken said, does it define her? No. But did she make a mistake? Yes. So please, don't be a revisionist.

i feel so deeply for your mom, aiken. she’s done nothing but give her love and her money without asking for much in return. as much as reciprocal relationships are ‘endorsed’ as the proper way to live in our society, there is a ridiculously disproportionate burden of shame that is placed on emotionally/financially vulnerable women who fall into the wrong situations. of course she made a mistake but she was so young, so lost - he had so many resources at his disposal and gave her the illusion of stability and unconditional love.
all in all, i think she’s incredibly strong and so beautiful inside and out. i’m sorry she grew up in an era where she felt like she had to suffer through it all in silence, but now here we are. be a good son yes! ❤️ thank you for sharing your story.
