The thing about Nolan is that he isn't just incredibly powerful, he's also intelligent, especially when it comes to battle, which is a very dangerous combination considering who he is. We've seen time and time again that Nolan gets out of situations because of his powers, but we've also seen him manipulate a situation and the people around him and figuring stuff out remarkably quickly. It makes him all the more terrifying.
"Why did he do this [Let this happen]" As far as I can tell he just wanted to teach a lesson to his son. They had a disagreement about helping this guy, Mark refused to listen to him and listen to his mom instead, so he let Mark be "punished" for his disobedience. He knows enough about Viltruumite resilience to figure Mark's not gonna die, but he thinks now Mark will finally listen to him.
But also in another note, battle beast was specifically a major reason why Omni-man didn’t interfere; in the comic book his species are as strong as viltumites and can easily go toe to toe with them, there was a chance Omni-man wouldn’t be able to win this fight and he couldn’t let anyone - especially Cecil - know about any weaknesses
@@Fireheart__ I don't think it is. See at this point in the story, the author had no idea what kind of person Battle Beast would be, they just had him retreat because he was cool and they wanted to use him again. So if they didn't know what BB was, they certainly didn't use him as a major plot point or a reason for Omni Man's behaviour. In fact we know that, because in the comic Omni Man is surprised by battle beast later on, suggesting he had no idea how powerful or what kind of person he was.
So something they changed for the show in the comics William was not always openly gay and at one point was dating Eve (who dated William specifically to make Mark jealous and stay within Marks social circle). According to Kirkman the creator of the series the character was always written as being closeted and they made a lot of “jokes” about it (when Mark first takes William flying he says “This is gay” and Eve would later do the same thing). I think because of some of the backlash this was changed for the show as well as other things (Amber is very different from her comic book character).
That definitely sounds like a product of it‘s time (the early 2000s). Personally I am glad they changed that, it works for William and it works for Eve, too. Dating William to make Mark jealous is kind of a dick move anyway IMO. Only Amber suffered a lot from the first season writing unfortunately.
This is the episode where Robert Kirkman realized, and later publicly stated, that they screwed up the Amber character and needed to bring her closer to the comic version going forward.

the thing that annoys me the most about the amber tantrum this episode it that at first glance it makes sense, but amber just stood there doing nothing after helping one person up and didn't even try to find mark until after the reaniman killed himself...so she seemingly had no concern for where mark was or if he got hurt until she herself was safe. Meanwhile Mark saying he went to find help was something that would've actually HELPED the situation...like, Ambers perspective on everything involving mark is "If i'm not everything, you aren't anything"
Honestly I don’t think cyborg douge was initially trying to hurt anyone. I think he was just trying to ask for help. Like when he grabbed Rick he didn’t do anything aggressive he just held him making noises that sound like him trying to say something (but no vocal cords). Also I don’t like that technically Eves powers are inconsistent in this episode especially since her powers are atom manipulation not creation (well she can probably put protons and neutrons together but I mean she can’t make mass that wasn’t there like she can’t make stuff in a vacuum for example), and just because 2 things occupy the same space doesn’t mean they contain the same amount of atoms (same mass in other words). So her growing an entire orchard out of air really doesn’t make sense. And yes this is fiction but her powers are scientifically based so ya. Also I feel like keeping that principle in mind is essential to answering questions of the genre (why doesn’t she turn air around (villain) into (something that would stop them)) Also growing and entire orchard is inconsistent with a detail about her powers that haven’t been revealed in the show yet.
If Omniman stepped in to save Invincible then he wouldn't learn anything. Sometimes you have to let your children make mistakes in a safe way, rather than screwing up in a dangerous situation. Omniman know he didn't need to intervene because the damage done to Mark wouldn't kill him, but he still kept watch over him in case he needed to step in. That's call good parenting, like how you let your kid get drunk under your supervision, rather than by themselves with strangers in some dodgy club.
imo she's a bit overhated. I don't know what happened with the writing of s1 but it made her come across like a terrible person, which she never was in the comics.
It was their execution of her lines and behaviour not meeting up with their intentions, despite them already having a good example to base her on... which is her character in the comics!
