It was written and sang by Bob Dylan first I believe. And Dylan's singing of it is really good. But Sam's version just takes it to another level in my opinion. Sam had maybe had the best voice ever. There will never be another Sam Cooke. Anyway, hope you check it out. take care and keep on keepin; on.

It would be cool to react to the Old Crow Medicine Show version back to back. Both versions are great, comes down to personal taste. The video for the OCMS is fun. Crazy that this song stemmed from a bootleg version of an unfinished Bob Dylan song called Rock Me Mama. When Ketch Secor from OCMS was is high school he added the verses and the song was born. They share song writing credit with Bob Dylan.

Wagon Wheel (song) " Wagon Wheel " is a song co-written by Bob Dylan and Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show. Dylan recorded the chorus in 1973; Secor added verses 25 years later. Old Crow Medicine Show's final version was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America in April 2013.

He does have a great voice! The people in the video were the family from the TV show, "Duck Dynasty " & the country band, Lady A". It was fun seeing them in the video as well.

that guy that picked him up is "Uncle Sy" from the show Duck Dynasty,, some of the rest of the family shows up later. . The video features several guest appearances including Jase, Korie, Sadie, Si and Willie Robertson, the burly guys from A&E's Duck Dynasty, as well as Charles Kelley of Lady Antebellum. Kelley joined the crew as a participant in the video, and his band members Dave and Hillary join him in crooning the background vocals for the new single.

This is a cover of the Old Crow Medicine Show. "Rock Me Mama" was a sketch song written by Bob Dylan for the movie Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid. But Dylan could never complete the song. Ketch Secor of Old Crow resurrected it, completed the verses and the chorus and Dylan approved it. Old Crow's recordings of "Wagon Wheel" are worth a listen also.

Bob Dylan wrote the chorus in 1973. It was titled Rock Me Mama but he never finished the song. Keith Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show wrote the versus in 2003 an Wagon Wheel was born.

I was touched by "Brad Paisley invites Darius Rucker to join Grand Ole Opry".
Being asked is the highlight of many artists career (equivalent to being coronated into Country Music Royalty) and I was touched by Darius Rucker's disbelief that he wasn't being put on.
Not sure if.enough there for a reaction. I've watched it several times and am touched every time.

Got to see Hootie & the Blowfish live back around 1995-96. Saw Darius live again just a few years ago. I'll never forget that first performance...
She sits alone by a lamp post...
The man is a truly gifted musician and performer.

This version is really good, but the Old Crow Medicine Show version is just about perfect! You should really listen to their version, too. Love how both of these songs are equally good! Thanks for reacting to "Wagon Wheel"! Peace!

If you’d live in Texas like I do, and if you go for a road trip, this song is a vibe to the road, it’s played more than once each drive which is amazing

This song was technically co-written by Bob Dylan and Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show. The chorus and melody came from a demo recorded by by Dylan in 1973. Secor wrote the verses around Dylan's original chorus and melody. Look up the song for a more detailed account on Wikipedia. It's pretty interesting.

Now you gotta check out the key and peele skit where Darius Rucker is performing solo and everyone keeps calling him “Hootie” in the crowd lol.
    Hootie/Darius is awesome.
The sketch of this song was made by Bob Dylan by the way. It was very rough and he only had an idea of the song. Darius took that idea and made it happen.
Everyone in the south loves this song. Can’t go to many southern campfires without someone busting an acoustic out and playing this one.

LOVE Darius!! Loved him with Hootie And The Blowifish back in the 90's and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE him now as a Country artist!! He has SO many Country hits!!
PLEASE check out another Darius hit Country song.... "IT WON'T BE LIKE THIS FOR LONG".... it really hits the nail on the head!! GREAT reaction and BTW..... the group Lady Antebellum, who are in this video w/Darius (driving the car and in the bar), is another phenomenal Country group you should consider checking out sometime!!
From Lady Antebellum try: "NEED YOU NOW" or "I RUN TO YOU"!! Both were HUGE cross-over hits on Country and Pop charts.... :)

I wanna call cap. He’s heard this song before. He smiled when it was the best / my favorite part. Last chorus “so rock me round a like wagon wheels” the slow part. Everyone knows to sing along at that part lol
